There is nothing to prepare with iTunes except for having the current iTunes version installed.

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.

  • It is unclear the advantage to pre-ordering the new iPhone 5. What I have read is that it will ship on the 21st? If so the only way to get one on the 21st is go stand in line. Please correct me if I am wrong.

if you don't have time to stand in line or don't want to risk getting there too late and leaving empty handed from the apple store preordering will guarantee you one but possibly in a slightly longer timeframe

  • Pre-ordered the new ipod touch and?

i pre-ordered the new ipod touch last month on the 18th, and i've been hearing peoples statuses have change to ready for shipment i believe? i checked my status and its still saying its processing my item, when can i expect to receive it? i also seen it said it will be shipped from oct 24-26th. does it take longer for it to ship if you have it engraved? and also if and when it is delivered to my house and nobody is home to sign for it what would i have to do? (would i have to go to pick it up if i miss the delivery?)

  • My daughter has an iPod Nano but just received an iPod Touch 5G but iTunes won't recognise the new device. What can we do?

My daughter has an iPod Nano but just received an iPod Touch 5G but iTunes won't recognise the new device. What can we do?

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
    or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
You need iTunes 11.1 or later on the computer.
    Does the iPod charge?

  • I ordered the new ipad, I already have an ipad and an ipod, can I use my same itunes for all of them? I want to turn my original ipad over to my partner and keep its contents separate from mine. Thx

What do I have to do to set up the new ipad and keep the old one as it is?
    Thx,
    JOey

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!)   I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.

  • I want to know if i pre-order the new ipod, when can i get it?

i have pre-ordered a new ipod touch last week. And i did not see APPLE took the money from my credit card. i wonder if oreder it successfully. And it said it can ship in Oct, I want to know when.DATE

The shipping date can't always be precisely determined due to potential complications. I believe Apple is in the middle of some kind of production and/or legal processes so they don't know precisely when they'll be able to ship. Don't worry.

  • I want to buy the new Ipad but what will become of my purchased applications? can I transfer them from my old Ipad?

I have the 3G ipad, but I want to buy the new one how do I transfer my applications from the old Ipad to the new Ipad

Yes. You can either set up your new iPad from a back-up of your old iPad, or you can select any apps bought via iTunes to be installed into the new iPad. If you go with the restore, everything like levels and the like on games is restored too. If you install fresh, then some things don't come over, even though you've loaded the apps.
anyway, it's not something to worry about.

  • Wan to get the new iPad (3) what amount of gig should I get? Details in description :)"

:) I want to buy the new iPad I'm just not sure whether I should get the 32 gig or the 64 gig... I have a 8 gig (white) iPod touch but I need more space!!! I'll have most of my apps on the iPad & offload my iPod photos to the iPad..
I tend to take a lot of photos & I like having lots of apps.. & Id like to use the iPad as a laptop.. ( just to google & type & the  occasional PowerPoint. My dad & brother have laptops but I rarely can use them.. I'd also like to be able to let my mum & my younger brother to use it as well.. But I'll need more space..
I like the idea of having the 64 because I'd have tons of space & I don't think I'd run out (also it wouldn't slow down) but I don't know if it's worth the time to save up for it....
Help please!! & feel free to ask any questions.. I'll check every now & then..
Ohh. & I'll be getting only wifi..

The 64 GB iPad 3 is only $100 more than the 32 GB.
You can't upgrade the memory once it is purchased.
That is why I would suggest getting the 64 GB.

  • I am moving to Alice Springs, Australia, this summer from the U.S. I would like to get the new iPad. How can I found out if I will be able to access all the functionality in Alice? Will I need to purchase a local plan of some sort?

I am moving to Alice Springs, Australia, this summer from the U.S. I would like to get the new iPad to use while traveling back and forth from the U.S. to Australia, and within Australia. How can I found out if I will be able to access all the functionality of the iPad in Alice? Will I need to purchase a local plan of some sort? I have never owned an Apple product before -- I'm a newby!

Aside form the limitation of LTE to the 700MHz and 2.1GHz bands (which rules out LTE in Europe I gather, at least as it stands now) the new iPad should let you use a GSM 3g/2g/edge network anywhere.  The CDMA Verizon model will only be able to use it's native CDMA radio band in the USA (that radio will be locked to Verizon), but it's international GSM radio is the same as the AT&T model.
Keep in mind though that by far the cheapest option when abroad is to take advantage of free wifi as much as possible (well, that is always the cheapest option, since it is free).  I know several people who have taken their wifi-only iPads and iPad2s to Europe and said they did not find the lack of 3G really inconvenient at all as most towns had plenty of free or cheap wifi access all over the place.
And in 3 years, your iPad will be at least 2-3 generations behind, LTE will have already been replaced by 5G or whatever the next new generation of cellular ends up being named (and the "young" kids will be wondering what the heck 3G even means or meant - dang that stuff was from the olden days!), and you can pitch that ancient piece of technology and start things all over again

They've created a new SIM for this phone--the micro-SIM.  Different SIM tray and all.  If you ordered from Apple.com selecting the carrier was step two of the process.
iPhone 5 confirmed to use nano-SIM, current SIMs not compatible.
The "Micro SIM" is too large to fit in the iPhone 5.

  • Pre-order the new iPod Touch. What is the benefit?

Hello to all. I was wondering if anyone has pre-ordered an Apple item (iPod touch, iPhone 5, etc.)? What is the benefit in doing this? Do you get it sooner than the retail stores? Thanks for reading!

There is no benefit other than the you might receive one before the retail stores put them out for sale, but the likelihood of that is very small.
