I purchased a movie from I-tunes. Why won't it copy to my I pod? I receive a message "Smoke Signals was not copied to Ipod because it cannot be played on this ipod". All other movies purchased from I-tunes have been copied and no problem playing.
What can I do to view this movie I downloaded from I tunes on my Ipod classic? Thanks very mcuh for any information.
Are you aware of how movies must be encoded for the iPad if the specs are different than Apple TV's?
You can find the specifications for iPad playback compatibility on the iPad Tech Specs web page of the Apple site. If using HandBrake, it best to use one of the included presets from the latest set preset updates. If you change these settings, there is always the possibility you may create problems, For instance, one person has already reported that using audio data rates above the recommended 160 Kbps limit will indeed cause problems. The iPad will play movies made using any of the Apple device presets. Since I also have the TV unit, I normally use that preset so as to get double use out of the same iTunes managed file. Having a passive secondary AC3 5.1 audio track does not cause any problems. In addition, the iPad will also support a text chapter track and at least one alternative AAC language track. (I.e., have not tried to test anything greater.) Have not tested any custom podcast files containing layering effects which have not been "flattened" either as this is not normally a part of my work flow. In short, there are a number of user settings in HandBrake that may create playback problems for different devices and that is why I would normally caution casual users to stick with one of the Apple device presets since these are tied to the specific profiles accepted by each device. If you are using custom settings and the file will not play, please post a sample snippet in order for me to see if I can locate a specific problem.

I am not able to update my apps because every time I am doing this, it is asking for a password which I have never used and the person who used it is in no more contact. how can i get my id instead of his??
Apps can only be updated using the same Apple ID and password they were originally purchased with.

When I try to Updates for Apps on my iPhone4, I get the message " Cannot connect to iTunes store". All other wifi functions are working including download of Apps and browsing.
Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

This may be a silly question but how do I get my music from my old ipod to the Ipod touch. when I go to move my music a error pops up saying your music wasn't copied to this ipod because it can not be played on this ipod. what can I do??
You will need to do it using a third-party utility such as Phone to PC. Also, see:

I Purchased season 5 of Downton Abbey and have downloaded episode 1. It will play on my iPad but will not play on Apple TV. Other movies and videos work fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
OOur internet service is not always fast enough to stream directly on Apple TV which is why we want to use AirPlay from the iPad to Apple TV. When we try to play a movie it starts for one second and then crashes out. This does not happen with every TV show - we watched 8 episodes of Season 4 with no problem, but it would not play episode 9 or episode 1 of season 5.

i just recently upgraded my itouch from 4.1 to ios 5, and updated to itunes 10.5. but when i synced my music files, ebooks and other apps, all is working except when im trying to sync my video files. it says, canot be synced as cannot be played on this ipod. but those are the same files that i have when i was using the old 4.1 version and its syncing just fine.. the itunes advanced tab "create iphone or ipod version" is not working either so i cant convert it to be xferred and synced. what can i do to have my video files synced?
i had the same problem but i just got a new video converter and made it convert videos to ipod/iphone format and then put them into itunes. i would suggest GOM encoder as the encoder can convert them and then once they're finished converting, put them automatically into your itunes for you. from there you can just sync them to your ipod.

Got error - Some of the videos in you library were not copied to the ipod becasue they cannot be played on this ipod. The videos were purchased from Itunes, so not sure how to fix this?
Hi JEG9,
If you are having issues transfering videos to your iPod Touch, you may find the following article helpful:

I purchased a video from iTunes but it will not sync to my iPod. I get a message stating that the video "was not loaded to the iPod because iyt cannot be played on this iPod." I tried to use the "create an iPod version" but the command is grayed out
I was refering to the "sample rate", normally 44.1 KHz, the iPod might not be able to play tracks with a non-standard rate. Otherwise I'm not sure what the issue might be.

Movie "cannot be played on this iPod"
My son just purchased the movie Chip & Dale from the US iTunes store at Movies>Short Films>Disney>Chip an' Dale. I try to sync to the iPod, and get a message that says "Chip an' Dale" was not copied to the iPod ... because it cannot be played on this iPod. I have iPod 5.5 80GB Video AAC/MP3 Player.
I purposely purchased the very latest iPod able to play video. If the movie is sold in the US iTunes store the what iPod do I need to play it?If it was purchased via iTunes DRM will prevent it from being converted in any manner...nor should it need to be converted. Anything purchased via iTunes SHOULD work on the latest iPods.
I know we say this alot, but it really does help in many cases...
Have you tried the Five R's?
Good luck. -

Movie was not copied because it cannot be played on this ipod
I have seen this posted a couple times but no one ever seems to post a solution.
I bought a couple tv shows from itunes. I try and sync my iPhone4 running ios5, and I get an error that says "**** was not copied to the ipod ** because it cannot be played on this device".
A couple posts mentions to go to Advanced and "Convert to iphone/ipod" but this option is grayed out and not available?
Is there anything I can do? Is there a way to find out this is going to happen before buying these?
Help Please!!Or you talking about making sure the movie is SD version?
Yes.
Make sure you are trying to load an SD (standard definition) version, not an HD version. -
I got a new iPod nano 7th gen, but when i tried downloading a video from my iTunes library a message popped up that said: Soem of the videos in your iTunes library were not copied to yor iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod. What should I do?
I kept having a similar problem - 3 out of the 10 videos I had on iTunes wouldn't sync. They were in the right format and I KNEW they worked on my iPod because I'd RECORDED them on my iPod. I finally figured out what to do! Go to the movies in your iTunes library. Click on one that does not sync. Click on "Advanced" at the top of iTunes and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version". Once that's finished, be sure you delete the old version so you don't keep getting the error (or have 2 copies of the same video) and sync. This should eliminate the problem. At least it did for me!

I bought a movie on ITunes, and now it says: "movie name" was not copied to the iPod "my ipod" because it cannot be played on this iPod. What's up with this?

When I try to download an audiobook from my iTunes Library I get the message that 'it was not copied because it cannot be played on this iPod. I had just downloaded another audio book from the same library to the same iPad so don't know what the problem is? maxabw

Is it something about "I Shot the Sheriff" that my iPod has a moral disagreement with? It had no issue importing and installing Body Count's "Kop Killa"...
Not really likely, is it?
First of all, look on the iPod to see if the song is actually on there. (The last Sync of my Classic resulted in "song not copied... because it cannot be found." The song had previously been on the iPod. I checked and despite the fact that iTunes could not find the file, the song was still on my iPod. I checked the folder and the song was exactly where t was supposed to be. So I simply set iTunes to find it again. What happened? I don't know, iTunes simply threw a wobbly!)
Second, try another Sync. Does this change anything? If the song was on the iPod, does a second Sync remove the message? If the song was not on the iPod after the first Sync, does the second one put it on there?
What happens? -
I've deleted all data from my I cloud acct. purchased the 10 gb plan. Why won't my I phone let's load the new iOS 7? It says I need 3.9 gb of room which is why I deleted all I cloud info. Does it need tr to register the changes?
Did you get a message on your phone about not enough storage space and therefore could not update the iOS?
The storage space referred to in a message like that is the space on your device. It is not the amount of iCloud storage you have. What you need to do is delete enough files, photos, videos, apps etc. from your iPhone so as to free up enough space on the phone so that you can download the update.
