Make sure you are connected to a good wifi connection. Do a reset on the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Once the phone restarts, check to see if the download starts, if not, tap on the application icon. It should go into the download/waiting status. You may have to tap it more than once.

I rented a movie on iTunes for my iPad and began watching the movie. I needed to pause to goto work, but when ingot home the movie rental would not open. I went into iTunes and it showed that it needed to download. It downloaded till the end where it says processing,but then froze there. My movie rental counted down and then ended,but it still shows as downloading in iTunes and will not let me clear it or recent the movie.

I have this same issue. It has happened with two movies I rented. Actually, I watched most of both movies but they are both still on my iPhone despite the 24-hour expiration. Both movies are frozen at the "processing" step.

Icloud is only downloading 438 of my439 songs and will not finish.

Yeah for me the music on my 4s keeps stopping and I have to click to the next song sometimes keep clicking until a song plays........Why? they are not greyed out they are all there matched ....big glitch and not worth the wonderful Icloud experience I thought it was proposed to be. Everything where u want it? not for me . I have been a hard core Apple guy for at least 15 years and now wondering if the path they have chose to include the masses is hurting their ability to release stable systems....oops there it goes again my time capsul shut down on its own and restarted my download which ironically erased the whole kitten caboodle. Downloading a tv episode causes iTunes to wait and will not finish download

I purchased the complete season 1 & 2 of Game of Thrones which came with a digital download. I have downloaded all but one episode of season 1 and all but one episode of season 2 BECAUSE the download for both goes into a perpetual wait condition. Both downloads have stalled at 1.8 mB of 2.22 gB and 2.18 gB. Any suggested fixes? I am running Mavericks and i tunes 11.1.3.

I have done all of these things multiple times, at least twice before I opened the Help Desk Ticket. No change after doing the process.

I followed your instructions to no success. The exact same two episodes refuse to download, with the exact same conditions I reported. I do IT for a NASA contractor so I understand the support process companies use & getting through the beginning troubleshooting process for remote users, so let's move on.
1) I don't see the issue as related to downloads being enabled or marked finished 38 other items successfully came down before & after my initial issue.
2) The problem is repeatable with the exact same results.
3) My machine has been shutdown since yesterday morning. I booted it, launched iTunes & am now in the same state as before, both episodes stuck @ 1.8 mB in the download & it will stay in this state until I restart iTunes, now matter how long I wait.
4) My machine is running Mavericks & iTunes is 11.1.3 (8). Our internet provider is Comcast. My mini is on a wired network.

It sounds like you are unable to play a couple of songs from your library becuase you get a message that the computer is unauthorized to play, but other content purchased that same day works without issue. I would verify that the affected songs were purchased with the same Apple ID first:

Open iTunes
Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
Choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab.
The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
If so, then delete the songs:

If restarting the computer and iTunes doesn't work you can try one of these suggestions.
1. If items appear (maybe in grey or different from working songs) but don't play you can try to delete them from your library so they will no longer seem to be there to the iTunes store.
a) select the item
b) press option and delete key assuming a mac keyboard
c) yes, send them to trash
d) restart Itunes, go to store, check for available downloads, and select download all

I unchecked the 2nd song so a different song would be 2nd, no benefit; reset my ipod nano; shut down laptop and restarted a different time; shorted the number of songs to sync; all without benefit.

When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.

Locked on an update can mean a couple of different things. So there are a number of things to try, but start with these.
If you have a "waiting" icon, try tapping on the icon and see if you can pause the update/download. Of it pauses, tap on it again and see if it will resume.
Try holding down on the icon until all of the icons on the screen wiggle. If the X to delete pops up on the waiting/stalled app - tap the X to delete the app. Tao,the home button and the apps will stop wiggling.
You can also try this and see if the downloads will resume. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

When I try to open iPhoto, it tells me I need to "prepare it" with the upgrader program. When I select iPhoto Library as the Library I want to upgrade, it tells me I don't need to upgrade it and should be able to open it with iPhoto. Ugh. Help??

If your photos have any value to you you should have an ongoing backup program - TimeMachine is a good first choice
For this purpose simply duplicating the iphoto library is adequate since you are not trying to protect against human or hardware failures - just against a rare rebuild issue
