I purchased an audiobook in iTunes and can't find where it is to b able to listen to it?

How do I listen to an audiobook I purchased from iTunes? Where is it stored once I downloaded it?

If you've bought and downloaded it on the iPad then it should be in the Music app - if there are audiobooks on the iPad then you should get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the app.
Note that audiobooks are currently one-time only download from the store, so you should copy it over to your computer's iTunes (File > Transfer Purchases) so that you can take a backup of it.

It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty.  You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod.  If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.
If you have non-iTunes pruchases you can copy them to your computer by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:

  • I'm using iCloud and can't find where my photos are on my pc

I'm using iCloud and can't find where my photos are on my pc.  Can't find them on my iPad either.

They're in the backup of your iPhone which is created by iTunes automatically as part of the sync operation. But you can't get at them that way.
With your iPhone connected to your PC, use whatever image-yanking software you would use with any other USB camera in order to get the images from your phone's Camera Roll onto your computer.

  • Purchased an audiobook from iTunes and unable to sync it to my iPhone

I purchased an audiobook from iTunes on my MacBook Air and have been unable to sync it to my iphone! Any thoughts?

    Hi DrDRB,
Check out these two previous topics on the subject matter -

Also, I see you're new. First off, welcome. Secondly, although you own a MacBook Air this sub-forum is typically reserved for hardware and/or software issues pertaining to the MacBook Air. For an issue with an audiobook from iTunes and being unable to sync to your iPhone a question like this would be better asked in the iTunes forum, as the iPhone forum is like the MacBook Air forum (designed for hardware/software issues related to the iPhone and iOS).
That iTunes forum is located here - https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes

  • I recently downloaded 3 movies from iTunes and can't find them?  Where do I find them?

I recently downloaded 3 movies and can't find them.  Where should I look?

  • I just bought a mini raid (1T) and can't find where to format it for use on my desktop iMac. Can anyone help?

i just bought a Raid Mini (1T) and can't find how to format it for my iMac OS X 10.8.5. Can someone help!?

It shouldn't need formatting. That should have been done to make the RAID. If you need to erase the RAID:
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select the RAID volume you wish to format from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.

  • HT3281 I downloaded an audio podcast on iPad2 using iTunes and can't find it

I've used iTunes on Mac, on PC on iPhone.  I downloaded a single episode of an audio podcast over wifi on my new iPad2 using iTunes. progress bar finished but there is no obvious place to tap to play the file and in fact I can't find the file to play it. Podcast icon at the bottom of the home screen on iTunes just leads me to the main page of featured Podcasts. I can't find my way to my Library or this particular file that I just downloaded.
Can someone help an iPad newbie find a single audio podcast file that I just downloaded? Where did iTunes put it?? Not in music, not in podcasts not in audiobooks. It's all "featured" and "charts" and if I go to "Downloads" there is a single link to "ITunes Store Terms and Conditions" . ***.
This is so non-intuitive and honestly coloring my new iPad experience very poorly. Why Apple makes the layout and interface so different on devices is part of my problem but not my question. I listen to a lot of Podcasts and wanted it to be an easy to version of iTunes like I'm used to on my Mac and PC. Why is it so crazily different looking? So frustrating as I evaluate whether I keep this gaget.
    thanks in advance

So I leave one app and go to a different app named "Music" to listen to an audio podcast? If I download a video podcast do I go to videos" app?
That is exactly where you go to watch a video podcast. Since that thought struck you after I told you where the audio podcasts are - doesn't it seem to make sense to you? Audio in the Music app - Video content in the Videos app?
New users want to play their music and videos in iTunes on the iPad because that is where they play that content on their computers. That's a natural assumption and that is where the confusion starts. iTunes on the iPad is simply a link to the store - not the media player like it is on the computer.
After two years of using iDevices every day, I am used to the way that they work - but I tend to agree that knowing how iTunes, the Music App and the Videos app work - is not the most intuitive design for a lot of new Apple device users.
And to top it all off - The iPad keeps changing with every new iOS release. In the previous iOS - the Music App was the iPod app. When it changed to the Music App, it confused new users even more.
There is a free iPad user guide book available in the iBook Store that is a fairly comprehensive manual. It is certainly worth downloading. Honestly, I have picked up tons of knowledge on this support site, by fumbling and fooling with the device by myself, and by relying on one of my best friends - Google!

Really? This option was changed in iTunes 8, about 4 years ago.

  • I downloaded movies from iTunes and can't find them.  Where can I find my downloaded movies on my iPad?

I have downloaded multiple purchased (not rented) movies on my computer from the iTunes store and done multiple "syncing" sessions. NONE of my purchased movies are in my iPad. Yes, I checked videos, iTunes and every other app on my iPad but they are not there. I have updated my iTunes on both my computer and iPad, as well as updated my iPad. I have downloaded songs, TV Shows and apps as well and all these are on my iPad. Why are my movies missing? Please, please, please help!

Assuming that you are signed into the correct account on the iPad - the same account that you bought the movies with
You don't have restrictions enabled on the iPad in Settings>General>Restrictions (did you check this?)
The movies are in the correct format for the iPad (did you try launching iTunes, selecting one of the movies and then go to Advanced>Create iPad or Apple TV Version)
You have selected each of the movies to sync in the moives tab and have also checked the Sync Movies Heading
One other "trick" that I have read about is to download a free podcast, start playing the podcast, stop the podcast and then see if the movies are in the videos app.

  • TS3274 After updating to the latest version of itunes I now have no audio .  The volume button is all the way up and it says "headphones".  I never saw that before and can't find where to change it.

I updated to itunes 7.02 yesterday and now I have no audio.  The side switch says mute or headphones.  How do I listen to anything without headphones?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.
