If the tech didn't erase the Mac as I stated above, he hasn't properly prepared your Mac for a second hand owner. Nothing less that erasing the HDD and returning the Mac to the shipping version of OS X so you may set up the Mac as a new Mac will suffice. All Macs since the introduction of OS X lion have shipped with iLife apps from the Mac App Store installed for free. Prior to Lion, they shipped with the boxed version of the apps.

Got it! Thanx. What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.

Contact your "friend." Have him set up the MBP for your with your own account, settings and passwords. You are not running IOS 5.1. That is for iPhone and iPad users. What OS are you running? Did he give you the OS installer disks?

As I said you need to:
You need to wipe the hard disk and reinstall the OS by booting into the recovery partition and reinstall the original OS via the internet. It will ask you to enter your ID

There is a possibility that you've bought a stolen iphone which has an iClould lock on it. The only way to remove an iCloud lock is to contact the previous owner of your phone and inform him of your problem. But you dont know who the previous owner is hence you cant unlock your phone. Do a fresh restore with itunes by connecting your iphone to your pc, opening up itunes and clicking restore. I'm not sure if that'll help, but it's worth a try. Hope I helped. Cheers

I don't know what you want to hear, but no one here can help you. apple will not help you.
What you're dealing with is the activation lock, where it's required for the person that sets up the iPad to 'release' it to be used by someone else.
There's no hack or crack. There's no assistance anyone here can give you beyond the suggestions we already have.
Use your imagination. Or use the ipad as a pretty new paperweight.

I had this imac 27" two years back(leopard 10.5.8) and no problem was encountered so far! (thanks 4that),i always made an update as far to snow leopard 10.6.8. Unfortunately when i did some application /downloading,the system was off and when i turn it On the logo of an apple only came.So what i did is to start all over again,now i am two years old back with Leo-10.5.8,My problem is i cannot install my snow leopard,it reads that i have to clean tha disc which i did and thru utility disc.Any help please and i really appreciate to every1 helping me to solve the problem.I will keep in touch.

BTW,I purchased the SL by retail and originally installed for the first time in my IMAC 27" ,unfortunately during the upgrading of the system,suddenly it was totally gray.then off as it killed my imac.i switch it On but only the apple logo came and waiting for so long.I tried to start from the very beginning,installed the DVD installation that was originally came from imac..it works and i have now the latest version of Leopard 10.5.6...then .8 thru updates. My problem is i cannot re-install my SNOW LEOPARD that i purchased from retail store..proceeded to install in my imac but everytime it ends with 'FAILED-pls clean the disc" i did the cleaning but still the same,:installed failed!-The installer could not copy the necessary support file",i tried booting from the disc holding C down but no luck at all. so ya I bought my daughter a new iPod touch for her birthday from the pawnshop. They said it's been put through the police data base and is not stolen(protocol ?). I took it home and put it away. Return it and get a refund. Without the prior owner's Apple ID and password that device is useless. Find My iPhone Activation Lock- Removing a device from a previous owner’s account. You were screwed by the ignorance of the pawn shop owner.

755p treo...phone's email "gets" messages from two years ago...super old mail...how can I get my newer messages?

I've got a Treo 755p...and I'm happy with it, except email has never worked right. When I connect to my gmail account to "get" messages, all it downloads are 350 messages from the year 2008. I've got to keep downloading, and deleteing 350 messages at a time which are two years old. What can I do with the phone or at gmail to "get" the more recent mail. It seems there must be a way to eliminate these old messages and concentrate on newer messages.

I feel your pain. I awoke this morning to check my text messages on my iPhone (I'm away working in Norway) only to notice a text my girlfriend sent over the night. The title bar over the message listed her Italian mobile number instead of her name. I thought that odd, only to realize that virtually all of my contacts have disappeared from the iCloud. Even more strange, there appears to be no order, rhyme nor reason, or any form of sense as to what has been deleted. If this (and a few other issues I have with post-Jobs Apple) is indicative of Apple's trajectory, they're not going to be around long. I'm beyond ******-off over this and I'll be thinking very hard about buying Apple products in the future.
