Yesterday I downlaoded the new iTunes update and now it will not open. I am running Norton and Microsoft Anti-spyware and took some hints from other messages and non of those have worked.
Anyone with ideas to fix this please send them to me and thank you to those who help!!

I downloaded Mavericks, and now ITunes won't open

Although the iTunes icon is showing on the dock and in Launchpad and Finder, it won't open.

To confirm, you've downloaded and installed Mavericks, and not just downloaded Mavericks, right?
If you have installed Mavericks, have you tried updating to load the current iTunes 12 software, to see if that might resolve this?
I'd probably also try using Disk Utility.app (Applications > Utilities) to repair the disk permissions, and also to check the volume for errors, though it's not at all clear that would help here.
If all that fails, see if Console.app (Applications > Utilities) shows any messages relevant to iTunes, if you launch that and then try the (failing) iTunes launch.

I trashed my mimetypes.rdf file to reset download actions, and now Firefox won't open because profile missing, please advise

Up until recently, when I would download a pdf file, it would automatically open, and recently, for some reason, it stopped opening automatically and just downloaded to my desktop where I wanted it. I found instructions on Mozilla if files downloaded but not displayed, that included displaying my profile folder and then deleting it. I trashed it (different from deleting?) and now if I try to open Firefox, I get the message that Firefox can't open/load because profile is missing. Please advise how I can get the profile folder back in.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

I downloaded SafariSpeed, and now Safari won't open.

What's the problem with SafariSpeed?! I downloaded it in the downloads section of the apple site and after i installed it safari wouldn't even open and has not since. I tried restarting the comp but no luck. could anyone please help me? is there a way I can just reinstall safari or something?

The first thing that I would recommend would be to use the "Reverse Changes" feature of Page Loading Delay and Favorite Icons in SafariSpeed.
Then reattempt to open Safari.
If that is unsuccessful read Safari quits unexpectedly for further troubleshooting steps.
When you have everything working normally, trash SafariSpeed.

I am working off of Windows 7. My husband restarted the computer and it works fine now. But before you would click on the icon to open the program it would appear as if it were firing up and then just shut down with no message or anything. That message means that you have to restore the iOS software because something went wrong. Follow the instructions here. I hope that you have a backup.

What matters is the version of iPhoto you have on the different machines. Can you tell us what they are, and what exact error message you get.

Thanks for this mha007 - I can now open FF with a new profile. Can I copy my settings from the old profile or will this bring over the same problem, maybe a corrupt file. If it would bring the same problem, is there any way I can check which file is corrupt, apart from taking them over one by one?
