I purchased Quicktime Pro, unable to register on my mac

Quicktime icon does not appear in my system preferences. I've got Quick Time in my applications that I can not trash. Quick Time Player 7 in my Utilities folder. What am I missing

I tried the tab key and the Buy Quicktime Pro disappeared. Quicktime Pro Registreation box is open with my registration info and no option to click on anything.
Why do you want to "click on anything?" If the registration entries are accepted, simply close the window, open a file, and test the newly activated features. If you want more information, READ THIS ARTICLE paying particular attention to the "Additional Information" section which describes the registration procedure.
Another question
Why is it that the Quicktime icon does not show in my system preferences..
This mode of registration access has been removed—probably to avoid user confusion on systems having both QT X and QT 7 installed since "Pro" registration is local to the QT 7 app only.

  • I must be clueless...just purchased quicktime pro...need some help

so I just purchased quicktime pro...I purchased it on my work computer, because I was bored...and figured I would take the code home, and put it on my mac book. I didn't put the code or key on my work computer at all.
I guess my question is do I need the internet to activate my quick time pro at home? because I don't have the internet at home. I know I know...everyone does.
I did go to a coffee shop where they have wireless and I put the numbers in (on my mac book), and it didn't do anything...it just highlighted the code, and that is it. does it install anywhere that I can physically see? or does it just turn on the quicktime pro features?

I'm thinking I put the code in my mac book, and figured I needed to see something visual installing and didn't realize that it just turns it on.
Actually, there are a number of indicators. If you open the "Register" tab in "QuickTime Preferences...", you should see that your registration number remains as entered. (Should have been erased if your entries are rejected.) In addition, it should now say "QuickTime Pro 7" below your registration number. If you open the "About QuickTime Player" menu option, the QT blue "Q" should now have the word "Pro" superimposed on it. Lastly, all of the menu options that were previously grayed/covered by the word "Pro" are now working.

I had the same problem tried pasting the key, typing the key, same response. make sure that in the Registered To field, you enter the name EXACTLY how it appears in the Email you have received (it's the Registered Name).

One registration per purchase. If QuickTime has been un-registered on the old machine you can use that same registration info on a new machine.

  • After purchasing Quicktime Pro, how do you start the program?

I recently purchased Quicktime Pro and received the order acknowledgement along with the license key.  I added this as instructed, clicked "apply" and nothing changed.  I cannot find QP anywhere.  I only see the Quicktime Player that I already have.  Is there another program or file that I need to download?

I tried the links and see nothing that I haven't already read.  Everything assumes that after the product license is installed, you then have PRO.  Perhaps I should be looking for another (or new) desktop icon, in addition to Player?!?
The only other thing I have found is this tidbit...
After Installation, click on Start > Control Panel and search for QuickTime.
Open the QuickTime Control Panel and enter your QuickTime Pro registration information there.

Just purchased Quicktime Pro 7, for iMac G5 with system OS X 10.4.11, AND cannot get at Quick Pro 7 despite the keys.

If the Pro registration worked the word Pro has been removed from many menu options.
The application remains just QuickTime Player 7 but the Pro features have been enabled.

  • I have purchased Quicktime Pro and entered the registration key but does not operate.  Apple does not have a support tab for this so I'd appreciate any help.  I have Windows 7 Home.

I have purchased Quicktime Pro and entered the registration code.  It indicates at it has been installed, but it does not run.  Any suggestions?

The trim to selection function is available and it appears to be working.  For now, I seem to be operable as Pro even though the header doesn't say so. Thanks.

  • I purchased Quicktime pro but can't find the location to put in the code to upgrade my quicktime 7

I can't find the Quicktime 7 control panel.  I purchased quicktime pro, I have no idea where to put in the code to upgrade what I have.

I don't have QTP but I think it's under the Quicktime Player > Registration menu.

  • Do I need to purchase quicktime pro

I have FCE 3 and the latest updates. I was just wondering do I need to purchase quicktime pro or does FCE has the same options and settings in the software for quicktime?

Use what you have got. The time to THINK about further purchases is when you find that your existing software can't do what you want.

  • HT3678 I purchased Quick time pro, went through the steps above. When I go to save the video save is grayed out and it says I need to purchase quicktime pro.

Quicktime Pro will do full screen streaming videos that are compatible with Quicktime installed Codecs. If the video of the Olympics on the website has a specific URL to go straight to the video, then yes, you can call upon it with Quicktime Pro's player and then watch it fullscreen.
If the video of the Olympics was embedded such a way that you can't find the direct link to the video, then the limitation is how the webpage is designed. Thanks to Flip4Mac, there is now also a Windows Media codec you can install for Quicktime as well:
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm
Although some video software like Elgato's EyeTV don't work with it yet. If you are using Elgato's software, don't download it, and rather download Windows Media Player for Mac OS X:
    http://tinyurl.com/26pxg
if the video is in Windows Media.
If the video is in Realplayer, click on the Realplayer Free button on the upper right corner of:
    http://www.real.com/player/?src=realaudio
You can enter a dummy address and password if you don't want Real's offers.
If it is still a question of not being able to determine the true link to the video, try using different Mac web browsers to see what result you get:

  • Purchased Quicktime Pro, but no email.

I recentely purchased Quicktime Pro, and it was dumb of me not to verify my email address, so it was sent to my old mac email account, which is no longer active. And now, there is no way I can access the key code that I purchased. Is there any way it can be sent to my active email address? Or is it possible to speak to live person about this transaction?
I could really use some help here. Thanks!

dont worry about it, just go to the apple store section of the website and login to your account.
Then under software downloads you will find your order and the reg key

  • I can not update Quick Time.  I get the message "a connection with the server could not be established"  I AM connected to the internet.  I have purchased QuickTime pro but can not get it uploaded.  Help.

I have purchased Quick Time Pro and received my key.  I am told to go to QuickTime settings to update and I do not have Quick Time in my control panel.
When I bring up QuickTime and click Help to Update I am told that a connection to the server could not be made due to either the server being down or my computer not having an internet connection.  I am connected to the internet so I know that is not the problem.
How do I update my Quick Time player from 7.7.2 to QuickTime Pro that I have purchased?

Launch the QuickTime Player and go "Edit > Preferences > Register", as per the following screenshot:
... that should get you through to the Register Tab in your QuickTime Control Panel.

  • QuickTime Pro won't register

Back in 2005, I purchased QT Pro and saved the email that contained the registered name and serial number. Recently, I had to do an erase and reinstall, and then afterwards, I went ahead and put in the serial number under System Preferences to update QT 7.0 to the Pro version. The registered name and serial number are in System Preferences as I speak, copied directly from the email, so I know that they're in there correctly. Yet QT is still showing as QuickTime™ Version 7.0.0, Player Version 7.0 (7.0). Could anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks-

QuickTime 7 was introduced in April of 2005.
If you have a version 7 serial number and it shows in the QuickTime System Preference pane with your name and registration number then you have "Pro".
You can confirm this by opening the QuickTime Player app and looking at any menu. Choose File menu and you'll see some of the Pro options are enabled.
Use Software Update to come up to "speed" as QuickTime Player is now at version 7.4.1. Updates are free.
