I PXI 1010 with Digital Osci, RIO cards. Any simple projects to illustrate PXI with Signal Express and/or using Digital Osc.?

I have PXI 1010 with card for Digital Osc. Also have ELVIS. Any suggestions on oa simple project to illustrate applications of PXI - using Dig OSc and/or ELVIS. Any suggestions to illustrate PXI with Signal Express exercises. This is for undergraduates in EE Engg.

Hi, yes, that does help, thank you for your reply.  Signal express does make it easy to work with multiple devices, as I am, though something seems to be amiss with the timing between cards.  For example, setting Signal Express to do nothing more than log data at 100 pts/sec on all channels on all three cards (PCI-6289), and using the software trigger in Signal Express to start the digitization process, and the stop button, to stop data logging, certainly seems to be a very convenient solution.  However, the longer I record (an hour seems to be enough time), the more likely that a signal recorded on all three cards, will not synch, point to point, (comparing signals recorded on channel 0 on all three cards, which I believe should be captured simultaneously through out the recording process, for example) and data recording does not stop simultaneously on all three cards.  I can handle the data logging not stopping simultaneously, but my source signal apparently not being recorded synchronously is a whole other problem, and the impetus for my question.  Thanks for the tip about NI-SCOPE, I was going to start working with that on a different project.
I am using the most recent versions of SignalExpress, NIDAQmx drivers, etc., on a PC running 64-bit windows 7.

Brian

  • Synchronise NI 9239 & NI USB 8473 with Signal express

Hello, I have a Cdaq 9174 chassis with an NI 9239 module (analogue input at 50Khz/ch) with Signal Express.
And I wanted to know if we could acquire this four inputs synchronised with datas from CAN connection by using a NI USB 8473 ?
    Many thanks.
    Patrick.

For me you can't use the driver NI-CAN is not compatible with Signal Express. The Only way you could use it with SE, is to pass through LabVIEW VI.
You'll find in the below link the way to do it.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/359D14941D6936E98625729D008387D5
I advise you to stay in LabVIEW this kind of program. It's easier.
    Best regards.

I just purchased an extreme.  I have an express.  The sales guy recommended setting up a hot spot with the express and use the extreme as a base station.  What does he mean and how do I do this?  What are the advantages?  How do I set this up?????

I think he means to set up the main extreme as the main router or "main base station", and then use the express to "extend" the network.
You can look up the manual for your express here for more details:
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/
Extend the range of your network by adding AirPort Express to your existing AirPortExtreme or AirPort Express wireless network (this is called a Wireless DistributionSystem, or WDS). "
Extending the Range of an Existing AirPort Extreme or
    AirPort Express Network
You can extend the range of an existing AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express wirelessnetwork by setting it up in a WDS. Wireless computers can connect to the network andshare the Internet connection, share files, and play network games. If you connect yourAirPort Express to your home stereo, computers on your wireless network can useAirTunes to play music on the stereo from iTunes. If you connect a USB printer to yourAirPort Express, all of the computers on the network can print to it.
n Open the AirPort Setup Assistant on a Macintosh, or the AirPort Express Assistant on acomputer using Windows XP. Follow the onscreen instructions to extend the range ofyour AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express network.
Note: Extending the range of a network using WDS may reduce overall networkperformance.

Assistance with Regular Expression and Tcl
    Hello Everyone,
I recently began learning Tcl to develop scripts for automating network switch deployments.
In my script, I want to name the device with a location and the last three octets of the base mac address.
I can get the Base MAC address by :
    show version | include Base
Base ethernet MAC Address       : 00:00:00:DB:CE:00
And I can get the last three octets of the MAC address using the following regular expression.
    ([0-9a-f]{2}[:-]){2}([0-9a-f]{2}$)
But I have not been able to figure out how to call the regular expression in the tcl script.
I have checked several resources but have not been able to figure it out.  Suggestions?
Ultimately, I want to set the last three octets to a variable (something like below) and then call the variable when I name the switch.
set mac [exec "sh version | i Base"] (include the regular expression)
    ios_config "hostname location$mac"
Thanks for any assistance in advance.
    Chris

    This worked for me.
Switch_1(tcl)#set result [exec show ver | inc Base]
Base ethernet MAC Address       : 00:1B:D4:F8:B1:80
    Switch_1(tcl)#regexp {([0-9A-F:]{8}\r)} $result -> mac

  • I have East/West Symphony.  Will it work with Logic express and do I have to have that little red usb drive in the computer to authorize it?

    I have East/West Symphony.
Will it work with Logic express and do I have to have that little red usb drive in the computer to authorize it?
Also, would it work with Garageband??

Thanks-that's the same driver I'm using now.
The M-audio techs were unable to tell me if Quattro would work with LE8, so I've been wasting my time and money trying to make it work.
They also gave me conflicting opinions as to whether or not "tip" polarity was an issue when using an after-market adapter. One said definitely yes, one or two others said definitely no.
Their phone tech line has a 20 to 40 minute wait when I call. The online support system is confusing, which even they admit. I don't think my next interface will be from M-audio.
Thanks very much for the response, it helps me get beyond this phase.
Is the Quattro of any use for anybody else (i.e., can I sell it or give it away)?

  • I have two kids with ipod touches and we use one windows computer, can i use one apple id or do they need 2 seperate ids

WE were a one itouch family and then my son got one on his birthday.  My daughter had an account full with gift cards.  When I added my son's to the computer I used the same apple id and now everything is being billed to my cc, when she purchases even though she has credit it goes straigh to my CC.  Help, how do I fix this?

You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

  • Hi-fi separates with Airport Express and Airtunes

Hi, please could you tell me whether it is possible to use a hi-fi separates system with airport express? it doesnt seem possible to me but i thought i would ask.
    regards
    ste bond

Ah. Much clearer to this antipodian now
If you have a look at page 15 of the Setup Guide for Airport Express, available at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/AirPortExpressSetupGuide.pdf - it shows the connections it can be made to plug into.
Every hi-fi system I've seen has stereo RCA jacks (red and white plugs) on the back for accepting auxiliary inputs. You'll just need to get the appropriate cable from your supplier of choice. If you system is more modern, using fibre optic cabling may be a better option (avoids ground loops, avoids multiple analog/digital conversions, etc).
You can only use iTunes to send sound to the Airport Express, unless you get a third party application like AirFoil (from http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/ ), so technically "what I like" would need to be restricted to that which you had in iTunes, but basically, yes.

  • Need help with Airport Express and so on.

Ok so my main problem before getting into what I need help with here is that our MacBooks and now my iPhone 6 plus isn't staying online. Keep getting booted off and then I either have to select the network again or it will eventually go back on. If anyone has a solution or so please feel free to answer that as well. I'm running on Roadrunner with a Netgear 600 wireless router and a motorola modem. Both of which I'll leave the link to below for a better look.
My Main Question: So I'm looking at a new wireless router mainly and possibly a new modem. I know Apple products are trustworthy but how good is the Airport Express and other Airport products. Also what is the Maximum speed and Maximum data speed for the cheapest express station and if anyone knows the speeds of the other devices it would be greatly appreciated.

DSL Router to Netgear 5-port Switch and I used the switch to connect to Airport Extreme, TV, Blue-Ray DVD player and DirecTV Receiver.
The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is a router so it will do what you need.
You need to reconfigure your setup. Connect the WAN port of the AEBS to the DSL router. Then connect the Netgear switch to one of the LAN ports on the AEBS. The AEBS will properly share the connection.

  • How do I know "Roaming Network" is working with Airport Express and Airport Extreme and should I use extended wireless network for third Express?

Attempting to eliminate a dead spot in Wifi coverage [and implement AirPlay] have one Airport Extreme 802.11n and two Airport Express 802.11n's.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145
The Airport Extreme is of course connected to cable modem and Ethernet switch, and one Airport Express is connected to the Ethernet network. As per instructions for creating a "Roaming Network", Airport Express is set to same SSID, security type, and Password.
    Questions:
    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to? In other words, will it switch to the closer WiFi transmitter automatically? The WiFi reception problem is intermittent in the fringe areas so what I do not want it for it to stick with the more distant Airport Extreme in the basement when the Airport Express which is closer will work better.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
The third Airport Express will be in a third location - I was planning on using it also for expanding coverage but after reading the warnings about performance suffering when purely using WiFi for the expansion in this location ("Wireless Extended Network" without an ethernet connection) I have figured that the single wired Airport Express will be adequate and will use the third Express to do Airplay only.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259
Question: Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
    Mitch

    1. How does the client device know which Airport to connect to?
The Mac computer will automatically connect to the wireless access point with the strongest signal...which is probably the closest AirPort. An iPhone or iPad may not do this and will tend to stay connected to one AirPort.
    2. How can I tell which of the Airports the attached client device is using?
On a Mac, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility. Click on one of AirPorts. In the area to the right, locate the AirPort ID and jot that down. Then do the same for your other AirPort.
Move your Mac near one of the AirPorts and log on to the wireless. Hold down the option key on the Mac while you click the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID. That is the AirPort ID of the device to which you are connected.
If you are close to the "remote" AirPort, and you see the AIrPort ID of the "main" router when you are testing, then you know that the network is not configured correctly.
Can I use this second Airport Express to extend the wireless network via "Extended Wireless Network" while the other two are in "Roaming Netowrk" configuration? Without bogging down??
There will be a modest 10-15% bandwidth loss with the "extend" setup, assuming that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from the AirPort to which it is associated. You can avoid the bandwidth loss if the Express is also connected via Ethernet as part of the roaming configuration.

  • How to extend wireless with airport express and time capsule

So, I have a time capsule & because of the thick walls in my apartment, I can barely use my ipad and iphone at night in my bedroom! (my macbookPRO stays at 3 bars however!)
I bought an airport express thinking I could plug it closer to or inside my bedroom to boost the signal - but it doesn't seem to work that way - any tips on how to set this up?
    TWO ADDITIONAL Qs:
Does connecting directly to my time capsule (which i'm assuming i'd need another ethernet cable) help with the boost? (then negates the other great uses for the airport express it seems)
Isn't there a way to do the boost with the express wirelessly? I'd really love to get wireless speakers, use airplay AND be able to use my devices just two rooms away ....   HELP!
thanks so much (when did apple phone support start to be closed on Sundays?)
    cheers.

Suggest that you check your setup again to make sure that the settings are correct on both the Time Capsule and AirPort Express.
Open AirPort Utility, select the Time Capsule and click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the row of icons
Make sure that a check mark is entered next to "Allow this network to be extended".( If the box is not checked, the Time Capsule will not extend to the AirPort Express)
Click Update to save your settings and close AirPort Utility
Next, open AirPort Utility again, select the AirPort Express and click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
    Settings should look like this:
Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the Time Capsule network
Check mark entered next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security = Same setting as the Time Capsule
Wireless Password = Same password as the Time Capsule network
    Confirm Password
Update to save settings and close AirPort Utility
Locate the AirPort Express approximately half way between the Time Capsule and area that needs more wireless coverage. You may need to experiment on placement to find the best compomise.
    Post back on your results.

  • Interference with my Express and Extreme?

I have an Airport Extreme purchased several years ago to connect two iMacs. We have updated each computer, one is a newer iMac and the other is a MacBookPro (06). We have had trouble getting a signal to reach both computers since we first bought the Extreme. I added an Express and it seemed to solve the problem.
The Extreme is located next to the desktop computer. My laptop (which is never further than 40 feet), randomly gets dropped offline. I have to go through choosing airport, my network, etc, each time I'm dropped and each time I boot up. I never had to do this before. The only change I made recently was password protecting my network. I have done software updates since the problem started and also have run firmware and software diagnostic tests which were fine.
I've been to the Genius Bar three times, I've spoken with Apple Tech support for over 3 hours total on this issue. The Extreme tested fine in the Apple Store, I purchased a new Express and the problem is worse. When I get connected it will sometimes work 20 minutes, an hour, or 5 minutes. When this happens I have to sit right next to the Extreme to pick up a signal.
We have single wall construction, no cordless phones and I can't think of any other interference. Sorry this is so long but I'm desperate! Thank you

    {quote:title=alohajam-Hawaii wrote:The only change I made recently was password protecting my network.}{quote}
Hmmm. That can make a difference, but I would think that should be exhibited as a performance hit as opposed to a reliability problem. Early AirPort Extremes took a hit with WEP (according to http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30664/228/). After looking at iStumbler, there's an old (2004) but good article at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/24311/98/ covering a/b/g nets; for instance, make sure your SSID is unique. Also, if running 802.11n, take a look at this article at http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30664/228/ (esp. Fixes #4 and #5).
I found running 802.11n to be futile around here (well, it is Silicon Valley). [iStumbler] will give you a clue about things in your area, but I found that the local WiFi environment changed day-to-day as new nets came online, or folks changed the bands they're using and/or switched to using wide channels (channel bonding). I could never stabilize things for more than a day or two here, so ended up buying a new Extreme and running Radio Mode = 5 GHz only - the only one in the area (at the time). That helped lots.

  • Interface to HP34970A with Signal Express

    Hello,
I am trying to interface an Agilent HP 34970A using a demo version of Signal Express 1.2. I installed the ivi-com driver version 1.0.0.4 from Agilent. When I go through "add step/IVI DMM Acquire" there is no instrument driver available in the pull down menu. Is there something I should do in MAX ? I have the same issue with a scope TDS 7104 using Tektronix ivi driver 2.5.
    Thanks for your help.
    Rob

    Rob,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
It sounds like there is a problem with the installation of the instrument drivers. There is a knowledgebase that walks you through the installation of IVI drivers with SignalExpress. Also National Instruments provides instrument drivers for Tektronix TDS 7104 and Agilent Technologies 34970A.
The drivers that you have currently installed should work, but the National Instruments instrument drivers for the two devices could be more likely to install properly. Also please step through the associated knowledgebase.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you still are having the same issue. Have a great day!

  • Help! Epson Photo R200 with AP Express and Windows XP

Hello all. I need help with configuring my Epson R200 with my airport express and windows XP. This seemed to work absolutely seamlessly when I had a mac hooked up to it, but now that my company put me on a God-forsaken Dell Latitude it absolutely refuses to work. Anyone else out there have any clever ideas? I'm about ready to hurl it out the window. If no ideas, can anyone recommend an inexpensive printer with better compatibility? (this one is on the hit list with "some problems")
    Many thanks - Wendy

I did, thanks for the help - but to no avail. It recognizes the printer, both in Bonjour and in the AE setup utility, and installs fine using Bonjour. However, when I try to print it searches for a long time, then dies on the vine and shows an error message. I have a good signal in my office, so I can't think of what might be triggering it.
