I qualify for a free upgrade to mountain lion, how do i download it?

I bought a MacBook Pro in July and it qualified for the free upgrade for the new software. I went through the process and got a claim number, now how do I download the software? Please help!

im pretty sure that after they review it and make sure you really do deserve the free upgrade they then email the code to you.

Mtn Lion not due out until the Summer, so no, you will not get a free upgrade.

I recently purchased a copy of Lion, will I be eligible for a free upgrade of Mountain Lion?

    no, sorry.
However, Lion has some great features in and of itself!
you will have to purchase it for 20 dollars in the app store (USA price) to upgrade to ML, the redemption codes that you may be reacting to are for people who recently purchased a computer and were told that they would be able to receive a free download of ML when it is released to make sure their computers are up to date.
This allows apple to release the hardware before the latest software, but still offer the latest software for free, because they're cool like that .
    I hope this helps

  • How long does it take for Apple to send the content code for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Has anyone managed to successfully receive the content code in their email for a free ugprade to Mountain Lion?
I bought my MBP on 14 July so I qualified for the free upgrade. Went to the website and filled in the form along with my serial number about 2 nights ago. Still haven't received my content code yet. How long does it take? Should I be speaking to someone already? Who?
    Thanks.

We are being advised it can take up to 72 hours !

  • Where do I find the "Number of Qualifying Systems for Right To Copy? I qualified for a free upgrade of montain lion.

I was filling the form to get a free upgrade for the mountain lion. I qualified for that because I bought it in the time stipulated. When they asked me about the number of qualifying systems for right to copy I don't know what to write.

That's for organizations with group licenses. If you are applying as an individual, you can ignore that field.

  • Free upgrade to Mountain Lion didn't download and now my code will not work again!

Okay so I bought a new MacBook Pro on Sunday and as Mountain Lion has only just come out and I have just bought my notebook I qualify for the free upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion. After filling in all the required information I recieved my redeem code and it started to download. After several failed attempts with the same error message of "Hash Mismatch" appearing I finally gave up and left it for a day or so. As I have come on to my laptop today in an attemt to download to update, I have looked everywhere in App Store (purchases, downloads) and Mountain Lion is not anywhere. I have also tried to re enter the codes but it is saying that the codes have already been used etc.
So now I am stuck and do not know what to do and I really dont want to have to pay the money to get Mountain Lion when I should be able to get it for free.
Any help you could give me would be appreciated, even if it is just an apple support number that I could call and get everything sorted out.
    Thank you.

After you press download, check your Launchpad.  The icon will show up with what looks like a white dot where you'd expect to see a progress bar.  That white dot actually is the progress bar, as ML is a 4GB download and can take anywhere from 1 to 15 hours, depending on your connection speed.  On the average 1.5Mbps economy connection, it will take about 7 hours to download.

Just check in with this link when ML is released for instructions on how to claim your upgrade.

    yes.http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/
It shows up as $19.99 on the app store.
Really?  That's strange since Apple hasn't announced a release date and it's not actually available for download in the app store.

  • I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?
I have seen a lot of discussions upgrading from Boot Camp 4 to 5 but no answers upgrading from boot camp 3.3 to 5. My worry is that if I upgrade from snow leopard to mountain lion, that my bootcamp partition will no longer be able to boot up. There seem to be a lot of threads suggesting problems that are possible. Has anyone gone through this upgrade with success?

Before doing any installation restart OSX from your 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to Both Repair The Disk and Repair the Permissions of your Macintosh HD.
Next remove your Snow Leopard DVD and restart your iMac into OSX.
Update to the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard by clicking the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install Snow Leopard v10.6.8, the latest version.
Use Time Machine to make a Full Backup of your Macintosh HD.
Shut down and restart into Windows by holding the Option key at the chime and selecting Windows.
Now use Windows Backup to make a Full Image Backup of your Windows Installation to a removable drive.
Shut Down and Boot back into OSX.
Open the Mac App Store from your Dock to buy and download Mountain Lion. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Upgrading your OSX to 10.8 should not effect the Windows Partition at all since you are only upgrading the Mac side. You should not have to run the Boot Camp Assitant 5 Utility in OSX at all.
Your Boot Camp 3.3 Windows Support Drivers et. al only effect your Windows installation and should continue to run fine after upgrading.
Which version of Windows do you already have installed on the existing Boot Camp Partition?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

  • Attempted to redeem free upgrade to Mountain Lion today but App store said the code had already been used... though it hadn't

I was in the process of redeeming my free upgrade to Mountain Lion today, and received a message in the "redeem" section of the App store that the redemption code had already been used. It hadn't been, unless there's a glitch in Apple's system that assigns codes. I accidentally clicked the submit button twice within a few seconds (believing I hadn't clicked it the first time, as nothing on the page indicated that I had submitted the form), as I was attempting to "redeem" my free upgrade.
Any ideas of what to do would be great. I'm brand new to the Mac world, and am interested in running the most up-to-date OS, especially since I've just procured the very top of the line new Macbook Pro w/Retina display, etc.
    Thanks,
