I really like the Yoga 13 tent mode

I just want to say how much I'm liking the Yoga's tent mode.  I bought the Yoga 13 because it seemed to have the best combination of features/screen/resolution for a new Windows 8 laptop.  I didn't plan on using it as a tablet nor really using it other than a regular laptop.  But I'm finding that the touchscreen features are convenient for casual browsing and that I like using the Yoga in my lap, particularly in tent mode (where the screen is upright & closer to my face).  I thought that having all the different screen positions was just a gimmick, but they're often useful.  Great job, Lenovo!

thanks for sharing!
the yoga is an interesting machine. it's taking me some getting-used-to, coming from the classic "Think" products. good learning experience for me.
cheers.

It sounds like it still has her information on it, so it might be efficient to navigate to Settings, then General, then Reset, then Erase All Content and Settings. You can then set up the phone again, using your information. This way the phone will be yours, officially, and her data and information will be removed.

  • I have the Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 "Classroom in a Book" but my computer says "File Format is not Supported" when I try to use accompanying DVD. What is wrong please, I really like the book and want to learn!

I've had the product for a while and have tried editing without the book and using video's but it goes slow and I don't feel like I'm learning.
I'm sure there are shortcuts to be had and I'm re-inventing the wheel it seems.
"File Format not supported" means exactly what? Is my Windows Version not compatible?
Not used to chat rooms, would prefer personal training but that is not the way of things anymore.

Okay, so I Right Click and nothing says "Link Media".
When I double click on an asset it says, "the selected file cannot be linked because it has 2 audio channel(s) and the clip was created with 1 audio channel(s)."
However 1 video clip asset does open in CS4.
The "Lesson One" project itself says, "file format not supported." still.

  • Can I delete the automatic links that pop up in the address bar? I don't really like the suggestions that come up as I'm typing a web address because they are usually not helpful!

For example if I am trying to type in an address, the address bar fills in immediately with a prior-visited address that has a similar name (it thinks it's helping me) but that's not the link I want. Can I clear out or cancel this feature of firefox?
    Thank you!

Set the Location Bar to "Nothing": Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: Nothing

  • Upside down webcam video in tent mode when in Skype. Is it Skype app problem or Yoga's?

    Hi there,
I have a problem with Skype app in Windows 8. When I use the Yoga in tent mode, my webcam video in Skype is upside down. I have checked the Windows' camera app and in tent mode the video is OK. But when I go to Skype, Skype does not rotate the video. This is while I have seen in Yoga's advertisement that people use the tent mode to do Skype calls. It seems to me more of a Skype problem. Does anyone have a suggestion how to resolve this?
By the way, Yoga is really a great product. Thanks Lenovo!

    Hi

  • Anyone have the Yoga 11S on order?

I bought a Yoga 11S a few days ago on the Lenovo website with the FatWallet discount (10% off + 6% FatWallet cash back + free shipping).  They say it will ship any day now, despite the fact that the website didn't have the model I ordered available for shipping for another 9 days.  I bought the Yoga 13, but it is a bit too big for my needs.  I checked out the Asus Tai Chi at an Abt electronics store, but I didn't like it.  The touchscreen was kind of "sticky" (for lack of a better term) which made for a horrible touch/feel experience when dragging my finger across a screen to scroll, for example.  And for some reason, the oil on one's skin left very visible smudges on the screen.  The Yoga screen wasn't like that at all, plus the touchscreen works in laptop mode and tablet mode unlike the Tai Chi.
Anyway, hoping to get the 11S in a few days, sight unseen.  Hopefully it is just like the Yoga 13, but smaller and lighter.

    Hi,
I haven't seen one yet or looked at the docs.  The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga11s Hardware Maintenance Manual  might give you something to chew on.
Please report back once you get your machine.
    Enjoy,

  • Looking for newer Mobo, like the MS-7345 Platinum P-35.

    Hello,
I'm thinking about upgrading my P-35 MS-7345. I really like the MSI brand. I'm going on 5 years, but because of possible GPU issues (like screen ghosting, Non-responding, and timer continues to spin, even when I make a very simple video action, like adding a transition, everything freezes and hangs, to the point of rebooting.
Some people have asked if i updraded Win7 drivers for the MSI boardw hich i'm sure i did. Some asked me to check the board for bad or damaged caps, so I checked both the GPU, and Mobo, but could not see anything.  Then someone told me it could be the Power supply...really?
In looking at Video cards, Like the PNY Quadro 600 ($150.00) requires a PCi-E 2.0x16, which I have now, but the higher end cards like the PNY Quadro 2000, ($400.00) and others, reqiuire a PCI-E 3.0x16.
WISHY WASHY~  Don't know if i should wait to get a new mobo, before I buy a new card, becuz it's going to be a while. I don't want to buy the Q600 DDR3 now, to be obsolete and a non-performer compared to the Q2000 DDR5, which would be more faster, then I wonder, i7, more DDR3 memory, and a new Mobo, then use a slower DDR3?  Ummmmmm.
To be honest, I like MSI, I bought my new MSI Platinum five years ago, and love it!  I'd like to keep it if i could, but technology supercedes practicallity, with the newer atx case with front USB 3.0 (mine is only 2.0....if it's backward compatible, then fine.) I'd like to ahead of the game, but not if i'm going to go BROKE!
With my old build, with the mobo, Intel Quad Q6600,700W Toughpower PSU, memory, hard drives, That set me back about $1200.00.
So..... for someone like me who is not a gamer, does not overclock, wants a minimum of 32GB DDR3, 700W PSU, three SATAII hard drives, does anyone have some Mainboard choices of newer LGA 1155 or 2011 that would either of these work?
This time, I'll need the i7 (or i5) new mobo, new DDR3 memory...up to minimum 16GB, maybe 32GB, and that's that. I'll use what I can,. or give or sell this tower and everything inside to my sister.
I was only looking at these two for specs:
    Z77A-G43 DDR3 1600  LGA 1155 ($ 97.00)  OR
    X79A-GD65 (8D) ATX DDR3 2400 ($ 291.00)
    I know the MS-7345 Platinum is off the production, but is there a board out there that's similar to the MS-7345 P-35?  {it's just easy to set up.}

If you already looked at X79A-GD65 (8D) and you are going for 16GB ram minimum or 32GB a Socket 2011 Core i7 would be a good choice. If you are just looking for an easy to setup system a X79A-GD45-8D would be of the same socket without any flaws but still somewhat less expensive.

  • How do you keep videos from completely playing in a slideshow (like the photos)?

In iPhoto, you can make slideshows to show photos for only 5 or however long of a duration you'd like... but when a video shows up in the show, all the pictures (depending on if you choose certain themes) will stick around on the screen as the video plays (or if the video is the only element in the current slide, also the video will completely play).
My question is.. is there any way to have the videos play for the same duration you set for the photos?  Like.. to have everything.. videos AND photos.. to only play for like 5 seconds etc.
I ask this because I want to show a really big album I have at a party with a slideshow, but because of all the video I take, when some videos are a bit longer (say like 2 to 3 mintues), it kinds disrupts the flow of the slideshow (as compared to just showing a short 5 second clip of the video like with the photos only being for 5 seconds as well.
Is this possible, or does anyone know a workaround solution?  I'd really like the videos to be in the slideshow too, but just not the whole videos.
We are talking thousands of photos and maybe hundreds of videos, here.  Nothing I'd want to edit individually.  iPhoto seems perfect for this if it would just only play portions of my video library instead of the whole videos.

No.  The videos will play for their entire length.  Try trimming the video in iPhoto by playing it and use the gear icon to bring up the Trip feature:
You'll get this window where you can select the portion of the video to use:
When you're done you can "revert to original" like this:
That may give you what you need for the slideshow.

  • How well will Lightroom and Photoshop CC work on the Yoga 2 Pro?

I am looking at buying a 2 in 1 laptop. I like the Yoga 2 Pro and the reviews on it. I am wondering how well Lightroom and Photoshop CC will run on it to do photo editing like redeye, lighting, blemishes, ect. I want it to run smooth and easy.

I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, but about resolutions:
TL;DR: If 1600x900 is an option, you shouldn't get any of the traditional blurring caused by changing resolutions.
The long version with math and some history about Apple and Lenovo:
Yes, changing a 3200x1800 native screen to 1920x1080 will make it blurry. Why? Because 3200 cannot neatly divided into 1920 and 1800 cannot neatly divided into 1080. You can't split pixels, so you get some blur as the monitor tries to round-off some things.
Buuuut, if you can set it to 1600x900 (the original Yoga's resolution, incidentally), then you might be OK. It's exactly half the native and shouldn't cause any blurring.
But, I don't own a Yoga 2 Pro, so I don't know if 1) 1600x900 is an option and 2) if there are any other weird things that happen.
But, the normal blurring that happens because you change from native resolution on an LCD is because...in the end...we can't make half-pixels. You have to use integers.
Apple was smart about this, actually:
    iPhone 3GS: 480x320
    iPhone 4 (first w/ Retina-branding): 960x640
Perfectly double -> no blurring. Made the whole transition a lot smoother.

  • I want to build a drop down menu like the one featured here

Hi there, I am wanting to build a drop down menu exactly like the one on this site (see college information button, top right)
    http://www.barnsley.ac.uk/index.php
I have a lot of content, and really like the idea of hiding behind a button at the top, and when the user clicks on it it opens up and pushes the rest of the page down!
    Anyone know how?

jQuery isn't a program as much as a collection of tools and effects built in JavaScript, a "framework".
Here's a tutorial that will help you build what you're looking for:

  • Really like my phone

I really like the style 9670. Is there any plans to update, and make the phone even better? The flip phone is a winner. Just need to keep updating.

too bad. I was meeting some of my old friends. There was five of us. We are all over 60. We all have money. We all have flip phones. I was the only one with the BB. They were all impressed. Have you seen "The Killing". The stars all used flip phones. Probably a propt, but they were using a flip phone. I asked my friends why they chose the flip phone. Answer, it's out of sight, and in their pockets, and gets the job done. BB really needs to retink this one, and put some more stuff, and increased power, and storage in it. I use mine as a bluetooth when jamming on my extreme on-beat, or playing music via my work computer, camera, texting, facebook, twiter, but it is slow. Really need to startrek it a little, and speed it up.

  • Replace HP-DV6t keyboard with a backlit one ( like the HDX-16t's one)

I had my core i7 hp dv6t for a couple weeks and I love every bit of it except for the keyboard ! I really like the backlit keyboard from HDX-16t and i think it fits my laptop ! Can someone help me with this ? And if it works, where can I buy that backlit keyboard ?
    Thanks in advance

I agree ... backlit keyboard was much better.  Did you ever find out if you can do this??  I would love to know if possible and how to go about doing it.  Would replacing the keyboard void my warranty though?

  • Yoga 2 Pro Tent Mode/Mode Switch Issues

Hi, I can't get my lenovo yoga 2 pro to go into tent mode. In fact, the screen won't even do a full 180 degree flip, but it will do a 90 degree flip to vertical (so I know the screen flip is working to a degree). Further, when switching to tablet mode, it says that it is in stand mode. Any thoughts? Thanks,Spencer

i had this problem out of the box.  The sensor which tells the Yoga which mode it is in and which way up was not working properly so that the screen was at 90 degrees to the right way up and it said tent when in tablet; laptop in tablet etc.  Researched it and saw that someone had resolved it by installaing Windows updates - but couldnt get Windows Update to work - it either found no updates or failed on install. I found that I needed to install updated drivers from the Lenovo support site (not sure which one did it, but it included a BIOS update, display driver and others), which then allowed Windows update to work.  Installed all outstanding updates and it now senses correctly.
