I really need the compatibility software for windows when installing it?

I have my installation disk of windows 7, but when i try to download the compatibility software i get a connexion error every time i try to download it, but the final question is if im going to have problems with windows if i dont get that software, i have a brand new imac 21.5 intel core i5 quadcore 2.5 ghz and amd radeon hd 6750m 512mb.

If you are trying to install MS Windows on your iMac you need to use Boot Camp (free) or run virtualization software such as Parallels or VMWare Fusion. To install Win 7 under Boot Camp open Boot Camp Assistant (Applications - Utilities - Boot Camp Assistant) and follow the on-screen directions. To run Parallels or Fusion you will need to purchase a license of their applications. Remember though when you install Windows on a Mac it is susceptible to all the malware any MS Windows box is. However the good news is even in the Windows partition becomes diseased this will not affect OS X. You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter. That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.

Bootcamp utility in OSX Lion tries to format my Drive when i only want to download the support software for my existing install...

So i have a bit of a problem...
im using a Mid 2009 13 Inch Macbook Pro in dualboot.
Im running OSX Lion and Windows 8 Consumer Preview in dual boot, no problems...
However i only have bootcamp 3.x software on my Windows install and i want to install 4.x ...
i know that to get the 4.x software i have to use the Bootcamp utility in Lion to download it, here is where the problem is...
i run the utility and check the box next to download support software and uncheck the rest (i dont want to format my install or remove it) and im prompted for a save location, which i set to my desktop (because i can read it from windows). it then informs me that its trying to format my Drive... My System drive!? all i want is the software, nothing else...
is there a way i can download it directly? such as i direct link to the software from the servers?

Read carefully. You have to download the software to a FAT32 formatted USB flash or hard drive.

I connected it to my laptop, and I got a message saying something like “your ipod needs to be formatted for windows, would you like itunes to reformat your ipod?” I don’t understand why it’s saying that I need to format it for windows when I have always been using it on windows. I use mediamonkey to transfer my files, and when I click on the ipod in mediamonkey, no songs show up. Hmm..Here's a few options:
~Hopefully you can see your Ipod under My Computer.
1. Enable the viewing of hidden files, then browse to (let's call it I:/ drive.)
I:/YourIpod_Name/iPodControl/Music
Copy the whole music folder to your desktop or somewhere safe. That folder contains all your songs, though they will have names such as HGB3.mp3.
(Enable Hidden Files<Under Advanced View>: Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Folder Options>View Tab>Show Hidden Files and Folders)
~If it doesn't appear under My Computer or if it does.
2. Use a third-party software program to get the songs from your Ipod to a folder on your computer. This will get the songs from your Ipod with the correct artists and names. Not sure if posting links to third-party software is 'legal', but here it goes:

I use this one to keep a backup of my songs from time to time. It's best to keep the backup on an external drive just in-case you HD dies.
If your still not able to get a backup of your songs, well that's all I have right now. Maybe you can wait for other replies, or just go ahead and format it(but you lose your songs).
Now to restore:
Let's see why it isn't appearing under iTunes.
Open up iTunes with your ipod connected, ignore anything that may pop up. Click the tab called 'Help' and then 'Run Diagnostics...'. Check only the two last boxes:
-Iphone/Ipod connectivity tests
-Iphone/Ipod touch sync tests
Hit next, again make sure your ipod is connected...next one more time.
You should pass all tests for connectivity.
Now sync, which you should fail.

If your up to losing your songs, your ipod is treated like a volume so right-click > format, should format it, deleting everything. When connected to iTunes, it should present the option to restore.

A very interesting NOTE to this thread. In order to try and get the "ignore permissions" box to show up in GET INFO (so I could execute Matt the Magician's solution to file sharing issues)-- I ran the terminal command for disabling ACLs on my internal HD / start up disk (as indicated in the linked thread to BDAqua's forum).
Although I understand that this was useless for disabling permissions on the start up disk (as everyone here pointed out) and allowing me to see the "ignore permissions" check box - somehow it did seem to fix my file sharing problem...and that was the root problem I wanted solved in the first place! After doing the terminal command and a quick reboot, I went in and tested file sharing on the chosen directory and I can create new files or work from existing files in the directory, with both users being able to modify / and save from both machines and each machine sees the revisions and can build from them. Bottom line - I'm stoked and want to thank everyone for their help.
The only other tweak I made was going over to my wife's machine and instead of using her log in / password, I just used my name and password to connect to my main machine that was sharing directories. Maybe that's what fixed the problem or the ACL disable but either way...I'm up and running the way I want to be.
Hope this thread helps anyone else who has these file sharing / permissions issues with Leopard. Especially for anyone wanting to do such a simple file sharing set up between 2 computers. I wish I understood exactly which tweak fixed the problem, but at least it works the way I want now.

This freezing reminds me of really old Macs, long ago, in the days of the old-school peripherals like SCSI drives, terminators, scanners and the like. If you had a SCSI conflict, like the wrong device ID's or something, you'd freeze up like that. Back in those days you'd call 800-SOS-APPLE (AAPL?) and they'd run you through disconnecting all your extra hardware - Jaz and Zip drives, CD burners, scanners etc and then eliminate them one by one by adding them incrementally and testing for the freeze/bomb dialog.
But, today we have Firewire and none of those ancient issues (no free lifetime tech support either). My iMac's ports are all full, and I only know which devices are connected when I have to remove something for another device. iSight, scanner, card reader, external hard drive, USB soundsticks, etc. You wouldn't happen to have any SCSI devices hooked up, would you?
Out of curiosity, have you tried a different USB/Firewire port for the hard drive? Or run the hardware test DVD that comes with your computer? This weird freezing seems to suggest a problem with the computer, RAM or network more than a device. Bad devices, in my experience, cause kernel panics, not freezing.

(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. This is the iPhone hardware forum. It sounds like you need to upgrade the version of iOS on your device, though. Plug it in and click check for updates in iTunes.

The camera roll is not part of the sync process at all.
You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.
