- If you have a 1G ipod you can't update past 3.1.3. To identify yourd see:
Identifying iPod models
- Be aware that if you can/do update the iOS to the latest (4.2.1 for a 2G and 4.3.4 for a 3G) you may not be able to sync to the old computer since that computer will need the latest iTunes to see/sync with the update iPod. Yo need an Max with at least OSX 10.5.8.
You can transfer iTunes purchases from the iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
You can use on of the third-party programs dicussed here to transfer other stuff:
new PC: Apple Support Communities
Unless you can move/copy the iPod backup file to the new computer you will loose all app data and restore from that backup. That file is located:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

I have more than a 100 apps which I do not use but are there in my iTunes library! My iPhone has only a few (40) updates. As I am not allowed to use office wi-fi to download or update my phone apps, I want to use iTunes on my PC for the same. But I do not want to waste time searching for the apps on my phone and then update it using iTunes. Also, I do not want to update all the apps in my iTunes Library as there are more gthan 100. Can anyone suggest me a method where I can just update the apps that are on my phone using iTunes??
I have the latest iTunes installed.Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a different setup you transfer the old library from a computer or a backup directly to the new setup, not the device to the library. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
I just downloaded a video in HD, but I found out after the download was over my computer doesn't play HD videos. Is there any way I can return the video and get the SD version, or upgrade my computer so it will play the HD video?
From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3209
When you purchase an HD video on a supported device or computer, only HD video will be downloaded. To download the SD version, you need to download the video again from your Purchased page. Conversely, if you purchase an HD video on an unsupported device, the SD version will be downloaded. Then, you will need to download the HD version from your Purchased page. I tunes asked me if I wanted to back up my iphone. I thought itunes backed up my iphone data so i sad yes but it turned out itunes backed up my ipod datas on my iphone =( is there any way I can get my pictures and messages back? Thanks!
If you have a backup of your computer, here's the location of the iTunes backup folder:
Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.

I had files stored on a hard drive that were not on my Mac. I used the hard drive for my first Time Machine back up, but it was not enough hard drive space to finish. Now those stored files are gone. Is there any way I can recover them? No, they were not part of previous Time Machine backups, and I have checked both the hard drive the documents were lost on and the new one that I now use for backups. Any suggestions would be helpful, as the lost files are old pictures that are gone forever. :[ Thanks!
1. Yes, if both drives are formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
2. Reformat the drives if needed, open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and remove the drive with the pictures from the list of items set to be excluded.

There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Judy's iPhone 4". The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.
I am trying to update the iPhone for my grandmother, Judy, as I am leaving for Paris on Wednesday night and we want to have Facetime installed on her iPhone before then, so we can stay in contact with each other. It is the simplest way for this to happen but the program simply will not allow me to update her iPhone.
Is there any way to get past this error and update her iPhone? Any help will be greatly appreciated.Dear Jody..jone5

So yeah, is there anyway I can just go back to what I had? c:If one of these programs will not kick the iPod out of recovery mode:
For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
or
http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
If necessary:
Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
and
RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
For MAC or PC
The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
Installs blootware on PC too
You will have to restore and thus erase the iPod
You might be able top get some info off the restored iPod by:

I lost my iPhone and its locked is there anyway that they can hook it up to there computer and get access? Also, Apple can help by using my Apple ID number, right?
If there's a passcode on it(good for you!), then whoever stole it can only access your information if they can guess your passcode. However, they would likely get it disabled before guessing correctly, and be forced to Restore it. At that point, your information would be wiped off the device.
And Apple can do nothing to help you, unfortunately. If you did, however, set up "Find My iPhone" before you lost it, then you can track the device. If not, then sorry - you're probably not getting your iPhone back. -
HT1766 Is there any way you can recover photos easily and for free?
I really need help, i accidently deleted important photos on my ipod & i really want them back immediately! :'( Please help me!
- If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
iOS: How to back up
- If they are in the iTunes backup then get them from the backup by:
Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
- If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
I know of no cheap way of getting them, even if possible, from the iPod -
Hello I lived in Australia for 3.5 years, using a 3G and a 4G iphone. In April I moved back to the USA and would like to use one of these iphones. I understand Australia iphones use a GSM language and AT&T is the only carrier that will allow me to use for the GSM. When trying to sign up with AT&T, the SIM card would not work. When visiting Apple in Walnut Creek, CA, they said that these iphones I have cannot be used in the USA.
Before moving back to the USA, I visited the Apple Store near Sydney and they said I could unlock them to use them in the USA. THey did something with the 3G iphone, but when I was at AT&T in Walnut Creek, I could not get the 3G to work.
Bottom line: can I use either my 3G or 4G iphone that I bought in Australia here in the USA?
Thank you for your help.
KInd regards,
Susan WilliamsYou should contact the carrier (in Austrailia I presume) to which they are locked to as they are the only ones that can unlock your iPhone.

Is there any way I can show the ratings and BPM of my tunes in Music or any other app?
I have a 128gb iPad air 2 and use it for my dance classes and would like to know if I can display the BPM & my ratings for tunes on my iPad? I currently use either Music app or Groove but cannot find a way to display these items
Ratings can be displayed one-track at a time, by topping on the title in the detailed view. BPMs can be displayed only in iTunes on your computer. Perhaps you could utilize Smart Playlists to group your tracks according to these criteria?
You can request features, point out bugs, etc, at Apple Feedback pages. -
I recently had to send my iphone off for repair and when I have got it back it has been reset to factory settings. Can I get my phonos, music etc back through icoulds ?
If your backup is incomplete you won't be able to use it. Do you have any backups on your computer? (You can check by opening iTunes and going to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Edit>Preferences>Devices on a PC). That will list any available backups on your computer.
