Try removing your sim and insert it again and make sure that its clean as well as the sim tray. insert it seucrely locked in place. See if it works, quick fix. If not try to use a different sim or try your sim to a different h/s. For you to be able to isolate if its with your sim or iPhone. Tricky Tips!

How do i activate my sim. Phone was locked to Virgin mobile, was told to insert my sim (telstra) go to itunes and re-register phone. Itunes keeps saying The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported. Brett
Your phone was previously hacked to get it to work on a carrier other than the one it was locked to. Restoring it restored the carrier lock. Only the carrier it is locked to can authorize an unlock. Not all carriers will do this. You will have to find out who it is locked to and contact them.

my iphone 4s was continually searching for a newtwork my carrier informed me my iphone needed a service or exchange. i drove 2hrs and paid $239 to exchange my iphone. i then went to activate it and i recieve a message saying activation failed. the SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported. contact apple for support. i rang apple and they informed me its my sim or the carrier. i rang the carrier and they said its apple. i have also tried activating the phone by using another carriers sim and the same carriers sim from another persons working phone. still get the same message.
Dude,
Apple didn't lock the phone, and you'll be waiting until kingdom come of you think that Apple will unlock it.
Only the carrier to which a phone is locked can authorize the unlocking. -

I did not know what to do??Follow this article: iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service or No SIM
Symptoms
In certain situations, iPhone may present one of the following symptoms:
"Invalid SIM" or "No SIM Card installed" alert appears intermittently.
Status bar displays "No SIM" when a SIM card is installed.
Resolution
If you encounter any of the above symptoms on your iPhone, try these steps to attempt to resolve the issue:
Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.
Toggle Airplane mode On and Off.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Check for a carrier settings update. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.
Remove the SIM Card and verify that it is a valid, carrier-manufactured SIM. Also verify that it is not damaged, worn, or modified. Then reinsert it.
Restore the iPhone.
If you still are unable to resolve this issue, contact Apple support for further assistance. -

I bought an iPhone 5 at full retail price from an AT&T store. I requested the phone to be unlocked through their unlock portal. The AT&T unlock system asked for the IMEI number, a copy of my receipt showing that I bougth the phone at "No Commitment" price. A few hours later I received a message from AT&T stating that the unlock request was approved. I then followed the instructions to back up the phone and restore it through Itunes. The phone activates normally with the AT&T SIM card. But when I insert my VODAFONE SIM I get the massage "THE SIM CARD... etc.
I tried again to back up & restore the phone 3 or 4 times, no success. I have also allowed 24 hours for the unlock process to complete. Still no luck.
I have checked again on the AT&T Unlock Status portal and it shows "Unlock approved".
Where is the issue here? Do I have to call Apple or return the phone to AT&T and get the unlocked phone through the Apple Store?
Thanks for any help on this. -
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information
what can in do?Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4 from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up. -

replacement SIM card.It appears that you have an iPhone that is locked to a carrier other than the one you were using. Now that you have tried to update the iOS, it has relocked. That is what happens if you are using a phone that has been hacked to unlock. You have also forfeited support from Apple and from this forum.

Please help me with my iphone 3G, I backed it up and restored it(step by step) but after restoring I have this message:"
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
". My phone worked properly before with my sim card99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked -

This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked.
what does it mean?Have a look in Settings>Carrier
Again YOU cannot unlock it - only the original carrier can do it -

This iPhone is not currently setup to work with carrier you're attempting to use. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked.Sounds like you are trying to use an iPhone that is locked to a particular
wireless carrier with the sim from another wireless carrier. Contact the wireless
provider that the iPhone is locked to and ask if they offer unlocking and if
you qualify. Only the wireless carrier that the iPhone is locked to can unlock

The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. 3-UK
Hi,
I've recently changed my iPhone from the UK Carrier o2 to the UK Carrier Three. When I inserted the 3 sim, iPhone immediately switches to a screen which indicates to connect iPhone to iTunes or allows you to slide for emergency. When I connected to iTunes the following message appears:
"The SIM card inserted into this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported Carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM that came with iPhone or visit the Carriers store to receive a replacement SIM."
When I went to the Three store they weren't able to tell me what was the problem and suggested I go to apple (unfortunatley I'm not able to go to an apple store any time soon). I bought the phone from apple not o2 so I don't think it's locked, and I would imagine it would say if that was the case?
Thanks in advance for your time!Your 3G iPhone is locked to O2 and Peter's link to O2 unlock iPhone is the correct way to unlock.
I've had mine iPhone unlocked by O2 just by completing the unlocking form simple as that, 3 days later O2 sends a text message saying unlock is sucessful. Here you have to remove O2 simcard replace it with your new simcard (3) and connect to itunes and sync.
After completion 3 mobile shows on the iTunes summary, disconnect from iTunes and restart your iPhone. That's it.

Import Captivate 2.0 to Captivate 1.0
Hi, is there a possibility to import presentations made with the latest version of captivate into Captivate 1.0? Maybe by converting from Captivate 2.0 to Powerpoint and then import PowerPoint into Captivate 1.0? Any ideas? Thx for the help.
