I received a reminder on IP5 to perform back up.  I dont have wi-fi at home.  Is it necessary to perform this backup?  My carrier is Verizon and I would think if anything happened to phone they should have my contacts/pictures stored on their end?  Thanks to anyone who can help

@98park,
You are going to be VERY disappointed if your iP5 fails, is stolen or lost.  We get posts here every day from people lamenting over the fact they did not have a backup.
You have three choices:
1. Sign up for Verizon backups (fee based).
2. Backup to iCloud.
3. Backup to a local computer.
If you do none of these, please do not ask for help when your disaster happens, as no one can help then.
