If the phone is Activation Locked (which it sounds like it is) the only thing you can do is contact the person who locked it. If you can't do that the phone is not usable as there is no way to bypass Activation Lock. Very simple. Turn off Find my iDevice, then Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

How can I change the name of devices associated with my Apple ID in iTunes?
We have 3 iPads and 4 iPhones in our family. All of the iPads show up on the list of devices associated with my Apple ID as simply "iPad". All of the iPhones show up simply as "iPhone", even though each device has a distinct name on the device itself (ie. Mark's iPhone). How can I get the distinct name to show up on the list of devices so I can keep the list updated as we add or remove devices from our collection?
Not it it's an @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com address. In that case your choices are to either create an email alias within the existing account, which delivers email to your existing iCloud inbox (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a), or create a new iCoud account. Note: alias addresses are permanently tied to the account that you create them in; they cannot be used to create a new iCloud account or be moved to a different account in the future.

Last night as I was setting up the pin I got distracted and entered the wrong one, now I can't access my phone as I don't know what I entered. Is there anyway around this or do I have to wipe my phone and sign in with my Apple ID and restore from icloud??
I can't ask for help on chat as I'm away from home and don't have the box with me, and obviously can't get the serial number in my phone as I've locked myself out!!

You choose whether to see text messages in Notification Center or not. If you elect to see them, they will display the phone number (unless they are from a contact in your contacts list).
You can choose not to see them at Settings > Notification Center > Messages. -

If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.

After burning a successful DVD in iDVD out of FCPX, how can I see the settings it used?
So I finally burned a DVD out of a Apple Pro Res file into iDVD in PAL format. My question now is how can I find out what the exact burn properties were so that I can apply the same burn properties to a project in Compressor 4?
Is it possible to see what iDVD did?I don't know any way you can interrogate iDVD to reveal settings to the extent that you can in a Compressor project. What you could do is open up the show's VOB in MPEG STreamclip, go to File and Reveal Stream Information; that will at least give you some rudimentary info like average bit rate. Perhaps someone, with more iDVD experience, can chime in here.
The broader question is why use Compressor at all if your current workflow is doing the job to your satisfaction?
The value of Compressor is that it gives you control over the many parameters that affect size quality. and playability. The Compressor presets can give you a starting point for DVD delivery, Web, etc. From those presets, people typically experiment by adjusting the parameters until they get the desired results for their specific show. It's a little bit science and a little bit art. After experimenting, you may be able to get slightly better quality for the project you've successfully burned in iDVD by using Compressor and something likeToast…or maybe not.

You cannot get around Activation Lock without the oringinal owner disassociating the iPad from their account.

How can I get a credit card re-instated with ITunes/Apple Store? It was blocked due to an ITunes billing error. Called customer (lacking in) service, but they were no help! The rep emailed that I had to get a new credit card No way.... --PB
Only Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with accepting Terms & Conditions on your iPhone 5s.
First, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
