The full featured Reader for Windows 8 is Reader XI.
Reader Touch works in all Windows 8 systems BUT it is intended mainly for use in mobile tablets - I see no particular reason to use it unless you can'r run Reader XI. Given it is mainly for use on mobile that can't use Flash, we aren't likely to ever see the development team spending their time on this.
If you want the latest and greatest - at least try Reader XI, not X! (Flash is a separate download, it will prompt).

Creating a PDF from an image using Adobe Reader 9.0

Hi, I've converted a bitmap image to Adobe PDF using Adobe Reader 9.0. I was able to open and read the file but not to modify it. The resulting file ended up being password protected. I do not have a password. I am using Adobe Acrobat X. Can you help?

I used an application called Bloomberg (feed with investment info) from where I was offered to convert an image into a PDF to save it. The laptop on that station is loaded with Acrobat Reader 9.0.

Unable to open any PDF document in Windream using Adobe Reader (11.0.9)

Our company uses a document management system for storing and archiving important documents. Since updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader (11.0.9) last week, we are unable to open any PDF document using Adobe Reader. An AcroRd32.exe*32 process is launched, but the document will not open or display. Eventually we suffer a system crash. Opening any other PDF document (not stored in the archive management system) using Adobe Reader is fine. Documents can also be opened in the archive management system using Adobe Acrobat.

Try disabling Protected Mode (see Pat's response here: Anyone having problems with the Acrobat Reader 11.0.9 update on Win7 X64?) and see if that helps...

Scrolling through PDF file using Adobe reader on my MACBOOK pro is very slow and stuters. That is even for small files. MAC preview and Adobe pro do not have this issue. It is only Adobe ready.

Summarizing the problem specifics and versions for future readers:
There are two separate "slow scrolling" bugs in recent versions of Adobe Reader on Mac OS X. Symptoms: scrolling by mouse or fn + down arrow is very sluggish and laggy. Problem 1: Adobe plug-in for Safari causes slow scrolling when viewing PDF documents within Safari. Solution: remove Adobe plugins from Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin. I also deleted AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin. This will cause PDF display within Safari to revert to the built-in Apple PDF renderer, which is very fast. These files will be re-installed anytime you install or upgrade Adobe Reader.
Problem 2: Stand-alone Adobe Reader scrolling is slow starting with version 11.0.01. Version 10.1.4 and earlier are not slow. User CF McBlob did not experience this slowdown, but was also running Acrobat 10.1.7, which might have libraries which prevented the problem. I'll do further testing when possible to try and isolate more details.

it didnt work, i tried chrome as well, but now found a way around it, actually the system was set to open files in the previewer, so I had save as the pdf file and then open it with pdf, and it worked.

Rachel, although Word is not specifically designed for the job you describe, it can be used for it. Once you have completed your document, you can export it to a PDF file directly from Word (File > Save as > PDF). I would suggest trying first with a single page containing text and photographs like those you'll be eventually using. If results are not as good as you would like, you can explore other methods, such as using a proper design program to produce your originals. And, whatever method you use, don't forget to keep the original files along with your PDFs, and backup copies of both.

I can't download PDF's from website that uses Adobe Reader on my Windows 8 phone?

For work I need to be able to download PDF's from a particular website. It utilizes the Adobe Reader but when I try to download a PDF, it doesn't do anything. I tried to download the "Adobe Reader" from the website but it says that I do not hav the system requirements to do so. This problem started after they did the Adobe update. A few weeks ago, i installed Adobe reader (because i had a pdf attachment that was unreadable in Preview, so i wanted to try Adobe to see if that would work; it didn't work). Since then, i can't open PDF files on the web. I get a black screen or sometimes a white one. and i can sometimes open them indirectly, if there is the option on the link. I thought this problem started after i deleted Adobe however. I'm not sure because i wasn't expecting this problem and am not exactly sure the sequence of when things happened, but i wanted to delete Adobe reader because i had no use for it. Unfortunately, they didn't provide an uninstaller. I put the application in the trash and whatever else was in the folder, and emptied the trash, but got a lot of messages about various files not being able to be deleted because they were in use. I think it was since then that i can't open PDF files. Never had a problem before getting involved with Adobe Reader. Anyway, as far as your answer goes, i have already deleted as much of it as i can.
Any other suggestions? i downloaded the Adobe installer to reinstall it if that's what it takes. i need to be able to open PDF files.

Adobe Reader won't load full file

I loaded a 300 page PDF to my playbook. The full file loads, but when i open it, it only displays the first seven pages. the remaining pages are blank. i have attempted with two different files with same result. both files display correctly in Adobe Reader on my Windows PC. I would appreciate any suggestions.
