I received an upgrade now I cant send email

On Jan 7th or 8th, I noticed my email window looks different (upgrade??) Now I can no longer send emails. I am receiving them but when I try to send email, it says:
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent using SMTP server smtp.l-p-s.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator.
I did not change anything.

I have exactly the same problem. Everything else works but it will not connect to the EE network. I have rebooted several times. Taken out the sim card and replaced it. When i try to call the line is dead. Thanks

Just installed iOS5 on iphone4, now I cant send email?

So I just updated the operating system on my iphone4 to iOS5. Now I cant send email. I can receive email, just cant send. Have tried all the usual remedies such as re-booting, setting up the email account again, changing the outgoing mail server port from 25 to 225 etc. Anyone got any other bright suggestions?

Changed broadband providers, now i cant send email!!!

I have recently moved in with my girlfriend and now whenever i try to send emails via the desktop Mac email application i get the error message -
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The SMTP server "smtp.mac.com" doesn't support authentication. Please check your account settings and try again."

I recently changed ISP to sbcglobal.net aka att.com aka att.yahoo.com.I was completely vexed with sending mail until I found out that I could opt out of their blocking of port 25. Until that, I had to use smtp.att.yahoo.com as my outgoing mail server. I tried using other ports, 587, or whatever, to no avail. Plus, I don't want to come home and futz around with computer configurations. Here is a link to the request form - select opt out of port 25 blocking as the "abuse type." If your girlfriend has at&t for her ISP, this will be it. If not, her ISP might be blocking port 25, and forcing you to use the ISP's SMTP mail server. you can go to the Composing tab in Mail Preferences and set her ISP as the outgoing SMTP server. If you are using Yahoo mail and you changed your password you will have to update the password in your Mail App Yahoo account. See Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

I did speak a bit too soon it seems - while I can now send messages again from my iPad 2, it still doesn't show me messages that were sent to me via my telephone number. Which is weird, because in the "You can be reached by iMessage at:" setting I do have my telephone number checked.
At this moment I have set my iPad 2 and iPhone 4's "Start new conversations from:" setting to my Apple ID e-mail address. This way at least I can send messages *and* receive messages if people don't use my telephone number to send me messages...
So yes, you should probably wait a while before restoring your iPad 2 - it doesn't fix things completely.

Update - I now have it working.
am not really sure what exactly fixed it.
I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.
outgoing server - p06-smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked - port now 587
on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

since upgrading Xos i cannot send emails with talktalk, i can receive them and still send on ipad and iphone. any one else had the same experience thanks

You need to send through the smtp address provided by your mobile network or switch your mobile email to an imap provider such as gmail or an apple .me account as these tend to work.

I got the same problem with mms, havent found a way to fix it yet
to close the app, when you douple click the button you get the screen with all the open apps, simpky just swipe the window with app you want to close upwards and it closes.

Firmware upgrade stopped mail from sending emails

since i had the firmware upgrade Ive had problems sending email using the Mail programme.
Nothing i have tried has fixed this issue and ive scoured the net looking for a resolution.
Has anyone else had this problem and how have you fixed it.
Im a bit of an idiot when it comes to technical stuff so a for dummies explanation would go down really well.

I can receive mail but no SMTP servers will send out mail and i have tried four different ones including my ISP's
I have also tried another mail package (thunderbird) and im getting the same problem.
I have been unable to send mail on my mac now for months.
Does anyone have any idea how i can rectify this - no changes have been made to my router settings so its not a firewall issue.

I am receiving mail in my Cox account but not my gmail account.It was working fine until the power failure. It keeps telling me, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect. I agree, unplug and replug your router, then reset your iPad by holding down the sleep and home buttons, ignore the red power down slider, and wait til you see the silver apple. let it reboot and then try your connection.
Chances are rebooting the router will help. You may also need to talk to cox. They may need to reset something on their end.
