I received the "iTunes Store is unable to process gift certificates" message

I attempted to redeem a £70 gift card I bought to which I got the mentioned message. At first, I thought the store is simply experiencing a technical problem until i tried to redeem another gift card. The purchased £15 gift card was redeemed without a problem, I instantly tried to redeem the higher value card to which I got the message again. In the past, I have redeemed £70 gift cards successfully.
What would be the problem?

Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again.

FWIW-- The Mac Store on my MacBook also returns a similar error message when I try to update pixelmator and evernote. I get "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
After that error in the Mac Store, I immediately get the following error message: "We Could Not Complete Your Request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"

Trying to buy a Season Pass to a show and all I get is the error "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."

Try it on the computer in iTunes. I've been having this problem for a few days on my iPad. When I logged in on the computer it said something about having a billing issues and I had to log in and reverify my info. It said I had an almost $10 balance due which was weird, because I'm linked with Paypal and have plenty of money in there at all times. It keeps saying "your Paypal transaction was declined" which I can't even begin to figure out. I re-setup the Paypal payments and it works fine now. Everything is sorted out. I wonder if a payment agreement as they call it, expires after so long and has to be re-verified?

It sounds like you are trying to make purchases on your AppleTV but are being met with this error message. I would start by restarting the Apple TV with this process:

Restart your Apple TV by selecting Settings > General > Restart.
If the issue persists sign out of the iTunes Store, then restart it again, and test the issue.

ITunes Store is unable to process purchases at the time, Payment process

Hi,
I am trying to update my iPod Touch to firmware 2.0 and I would be more than willing to pay the 8 euros but I am not allowed by iTunes which everytime I try to purchase gives me this warning: "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at the time, Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later".
Please help me cause this is getting really annoying! I want IT!!!!

Currently the iTunes store is not able to process any purchases. This has been the case for the entire day. I get the following error message:
"The iTunes Store is Unable to Process Purchases at this Time.

I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and it still doesn't work. This error has been off and on over the past few days. Any ideas? There are songs I'd like to buy.

I only just noticed a problem this evening, unable to purchase a single track (error 5002 - ah, that explains it then).
I got around the problem by closing the error message and logging into my account (clicking the little button with your email/username under the search field) and clicking resume downloads in the Pending Downloads section. The track I was trying to buy loaded as normal. I then clicked it again seeing as it was still highlighted after going back to my account window (clicking the iTunes Store button) and clicked Done when it showed my credit card info screen.

ITunes unable to process gift certificates

iTunes tells me that my redemption code for my gift card is invalid. When I continue to submit the same code that's on my gift card, I get a link to the help page where I submit my serial number as well, at which point iTunes tells me that they are unable to process gift certificates at this time. Is this just because it's Christmas and it's being flooded? Any predictions on when it'll be back up?

Well, it's not "down". I got three gift cards and two of them were able to be redeemed successfully, but one of the ($25) failed to be redeemed. I tried many times, and it wouldn't work. My guess is that there are problems.

I am trying to download an App in the iTunes Store but I keep getting an error message that reads: "Could not sign in - An unknown error has occured." Why?

I've downloaded the latest iTunes, set the DNS to 8.8.4.4, set the search domain to google.com, reset my Apple ID and password, restarted iPhone 4, closed out of the iTunes Store App, reset the router, reset the internet connection etc. etc. with no luck still. Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo may help this.
Restart your Mac after installing the combo then try downloading Lion.
It's ok to install the combo even though you are already running v10.6.8
BEFORE you do this make sure your Mac meets Lion's requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OSX v10.6.6 or later (V10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available spare

When I've tried to buy something for the past two days, it has a notice saying that the credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later. How long do I have to wait and why am I the only one waiting.

And this is the brilliant customer support reply... of course nothing wrong with itunes... Nevermind that all of the suggestions don't do a thing because all of my settings worked at one point!

1. Your bank's servers were busy. Try again at another time.
2. There is an issue with your credit card. Try using a different credit card or contact your credit card company to advise them of the problem.
3. Your billing name or address does not exactly match the address listed on your credit card statement and the United States Postal Service http://www.usps.com/. Any discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation or capitalization can cause errors, which might prevent you from purchasing music from the iTunes Store. 1. Using your web browser, go to http://myinfo.apple.com.

I sent an album as a gift to someone, but she haven't receive the iTunes store email containing the redeem code

Hi everyone. I gifted an album (Beyonce) to someone as a Christmas present, I bought it last Dec 23 and scheduled it to be delivered on the 25th. But still she haven't receive any redeem code or email from itunes until now. Tried to resend it many times already but still no luck, no email. I am sure also that the transaction has been successful since Apple sent me already an email of the receipt of my purchase of the said album on the 25th December also.
I went to my purchase history, the item is there and a label says it is not yet redeemed. It is just frustating, it should have been a surprise Christmas present.
Anything I can do more? Can I use the 10 character code under "order" as a redeem code?

Can I Buy an iPod in the Music Store w/ a money from Gift Certificates?

Hello,
I have Windows Xp and I was wondering if I could purchase a new iPod with money from my Gift Certificates. I currently have an iPod nano and it won't hold all of my songs so I was going to get a more space efficient iPod. I don't have a credit card on my account right now, but I have plenty money credited to my account from Christmas. I have over $300, so I'd have enought to purchase an iPod there.

The iTMS is only a place to purchase audio or video.
Apple does not offer any of it's own products for
purchase via the iTMS.
now in the itms you can actually buy ipods straight through itunes. i dont know if you can use your itunes music card credits on your account, but it cant hurt to try? let me know if it works, thatd be really convenient if it does, especially if you got a lot of music cards for gifts.

Since the stock market is not open today, I hardly doubt this is true that stock is dropping. Further, as of Thursday, shares were up by 6.6%. Apple's quarterly earnings just reported were up 27%. All indicators say that Apple is doing just fine.
People need to keep in mind that there are bound to be bugs in any new release of just about anything these days (except maybe a Mac -- my daughter has an iBook and we've never had a bit of trouble with it). Look at your computer -- bugs are precisely why we have service packs as add-ons to Windows. I remember older versions of Windows that were chock-full of issues.
It is the weekend, and while I am sure there are Apple staff out and about, this is just how it goes. Try to reauthorize your computer through the Store menu in iTunes and that may very well solve your connectivity issue.
