I received what appears to be a bogus email, does apple have a report fake emails link?

Does Apple want bogus emails forwarded to them so they can go after the senders?

  • HT201104 What apps support icloud drive? Also does apple have a preview application for iOS that is similar to what is found on the Mac?

I am having difficulties locating and viewing files that I download onto my macbook pro or iOS device and having that document be viewable across all my devices. Android has a seamless integration with google drive and google doc suite apps. I am looking for that same integration.

To the best of my knowledge, Apple does have a lemon policy, but I don't know that it is explicitly stated anywhere. I have heard of people being able to get their computer replaced after a series of major repairs.
Since you are a long ways from an Apple Store, it would probably be best to call Apple and ask to speak to Apple Customer Relations. They are a special tier at Apple whose mission is to solve problems that have not been solved at a lower level and to try to make Apple customers happy. They are also able to authorize a replacement machine.
Get together all of your repair records and case numbers if you have them and call and make your case. Be very polite and nice, but let them know how disappointed you are both with your machine and with the service you have received so far which has still not fixed everything. Do mention the many hours of your time that have been wasted in trying to get your Mac fixed satisfactorily.
In the future, it may be better to send your Mac off to an official Apple repair depot instead of trying to get it fixed at an Apple Store. My niece did that, and had very fast turnaround, sending hers off Tuesday at 6:00 PM and getting it back before noon on Thursday. To do that, you call Apple, and they will send you a special shipping box.
    Good luck!

  • I bought the new ipad (ipad 3) in July 2012.  what software did it come with and does it have siri?

i bought the new ipad (ipad 3) in July 2012.  what software did it come with and does it have siri?

The new iPad comes with iOS 5.1.1.
To get all new functionality and Siri, you need to update to iOS 6.
Be aware that if you were a Google Maps App user this has been replaced by version 1.0 of Apple's own new Maps App.
From the many user reviews, Apple's Map App is still a work in progress.
You can still access Google Maps from the Safari web browser.
Also, the YouTube app has, also, made a disappearing act.
You can use mobile YouTube from Safari to still view YouTube or a YouTube client app called Jasmine or download the Google YouTube App for iPhone. Google is working on a new YouTube App for iPad and isn't available, as yet.

What do you do if your iPod does not have a serial number?

Have you tried restoring to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes?
Are yo the original owner and have never jailbroke the iPod?
    Does the iPod work OK?
    The warranty is also void:
if any serial number has been removed or defaced from the Apple Product.

  • What does Apple have that compares to Adobe flash player ?

What does Apple have that compares to Adobe Flash Player, I keep getting Blocked plugged message and it tells me to download Adobe Flash Player and when I do nothing happens.  Also when I purchased my iMac it came with Leopard osx system, last year I installed the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 system and since then cannot read CD's or DVD's from PC or my husbands new iMac with Mountain Lion system.

There is no equivalent to Adobe's Flash Player. You either have it installed or not. For the reasons outlined below, Apple no longer sell Macs with Flash Player pre-installed, you have to obtain it from Adobe.
    Flash - Apple's official position:
    http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
    Flash v. HTML5
    http://www.streaminglearningcenter.com/articles/flash-player-cpu-hog-or-hot-tama le-it-depends-.html
Apple may have more reasons behind not installing Flash by default other than the stated reason of ensuring that users always have the most up-to-date version. Having Flash installed can cut battery runtime considerably—as much as 33 percent in our testing. With a handful of websites loaded in Safari, Flash-based ads kept the CPU running far more than seemed necessary, and the best time I recorded with Flash installed was just 4 hours. After deleting Flash, however, the MacBook Air ran for 6:02—with the exact same set of websites reloaded in Safari, and with static ads replacing the CPU-sucking Flash versions.

    And this:
    http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columnist/kimkomando/2011-02-18-changes-web_N.htm
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • What software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro

what software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro. have a new imac 27" late 2012 and after data transfer DVD Studio Pro does not work. What can I do? Would it be advisable to go back on the OS to a older vision OS Where DVD Studio Pro was working? Help!!!

Afraid they don't have anything to replace DVD SP. Your alternatives are Adobe Encore (which is EOL) or Toast, or IDVD (which can still be found in boxed sets of iLife).
But getting back to DVD SP and your data transfer, what do you mean by that? What exactly did you do and what happened with the application? I'm running it on 10.7 and it works, but it's from the FCS3 suite; is yours FCS2?.

  • I downloaded some home movies onto my IMac but could not find a way to burn them to a DVD.  Does Apple have software to do this or do I need to purchase one.  If so, what is recommended.

I downloaded some home movies onto my IMac but could not find a way to burn them to a DVD.  Does Apple have software to do this or do I need to purchase one.  If so, what is recommended.

but could not find a way to burn them to a DVD.
Do you want to create a video DVD that will plan on a TV set via a DVD player or just burn the video files to a data DVD disk for storage?
If the former the read the following:
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Softwareor eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
However, there are video DVD authoring apps that are available at the App Store that will create a video DVD disk.  They won't be as extensive as iDVD but can create a simple video DVD.
iDVD 7.1.2 is compatible with iDVD but we don't if it will be with the next system generation.

  • What are correct FireFox preference settings so don't have to always provide email address for a certain website?

Ever since upgrading to OS Mountain Lion I have to provide my email address for a particular website if my Mac has been restarted, even though I indicate on the website that I want to stay signed in to the website for two weeks at a time. When I had OS Snow Leopard, at this website I did not have to input my email address more often than every 2 weeks, no matter how often my computer was restarted.
What settings in FireFox preferences should I input so I don't have to input my email address at this website every time my computer is restarted?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

  • I received a text from another iPhone user who does not have an iPad, why did I receive the text on my iPad rather than my iPhone?

I have both the iPhone and New iPad and I was under the impression when sending a text it went from iPhone to iPhone or iPad to iPad.  Also, if I send a text from my iPad to someone who only has the iPhone, it comes in on their iPhone.  However, I received a text from an individual who only has an iPhone and it came to my iPad and never showed up on my phone...Which means had I not been at home I would not have known I had a text on my iPad????  How does it determine which device it will appear on?

You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself.  But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message.  If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally.  Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.
Although Apple's notes indicate you should be able to do it - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
(I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

  • HT201210 Can anyone tell me exactly what Error 23 is?! WHY does Apple assign an error # but then NOT explain what that is?! I'm trying to restore an iPhone 3G. Please help! Thx.

I CANNOT restore my iPhone, so now I'm stuck with a useless iPhone because I can't complete Restore - because Error 23 keeps coming up! Ugh...it bugs the heck out of me, that Apple assigns an error number without explaining (a) what that IS, (b) taking or redirecting to a SPECIFIC troubleshoot page for THAT error. I've wasted lots of time doing all the stuff already suggested but Error 23 persists! Please help or I've just lost my lovely old-design 3G, which I really am loathe to give up for one of those ugly new boxy too-long slim things... (Which cost $200, 2 boot!)

Thx BUT =as-said, I've tried ALL the suggestions - including reading through the link you just suggested/posted (but just for good measure, i've just re-read thru it again!). I noticed from this list the first time i read thru it, that Error 23 didn't appear anywhere on this list of various (numerous!) error numbers. So/ergo, i still don't know (a) what exactly this error IS, (b) how to fix/get past/resolve it.
I don't have an Apple store anywhere near me. Even if I did, I wonder whether they would (a) be willing to (b) able to fix it @ the so-called Genius bar? Any thoughts on this? (Obviously, if there were an Apple store nearby, I'd go there & try; as-is, it would entail an extra trip & an expense costing as much as buying a new iPhone!)
