I recently added Yosemite and now can't get Word program to open.
My system: Model Name: MacBook Pro Model Identifier: MacBookPro7,1 Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number of Processors: 1 Total Number of Cores:
L2 Cache: 3 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz Boot ROM Version: MBP71.0039.B0B SMC Version (system): 1.62f7. Running OS X Yosemite, which was recently added. When I try to open WORD program it gives me a message indicating; To open “Microsoft Word” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. I have done this several times and have confirmed each time that the correct Java is installed on my computer. Despite this, I still can not open WORD.
This is what you installed: Apple Java 2014-001? What version of Office do you have installed?

I recently browsed ITunes UK store and now can't get back to my iTunes US store. The UK store won't accept my email address as it is in use. So, effectively, I can't make an iTunes purchase. And, this password changing is madness. Everytime I sign in iTunes doesn't recognize my password and so I have to get a new one even though I've answered the useless security questions. Has anyone solved this problem before?
Funny how this seems to be one of the most-asked questions on the Internet. In most cases, no answer is ever checked as "Correct," either. Most answers, as on this page, say to click the flag at the bottom right-hand corner of any store page. The problem? There's only one flag!!! And it's the one of the country we don't want to be in!!!
Just in case this helps someone: what worked for me was to sign in. It then told me my id was not valid for this country, and switched me back to the US. How I was ever able to buy something from the UK store in the first place is beyond me.
By the way, Apple, experiences like this, and many, many other horrible ones with iTunes, is why those of us who do not live in the Apple world continue to stick to their Microsoft PCs. -
i just updated to Yosemite and now can't open mail or finder or other apps. Wheel just goes round and round
I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. I hope that the reinstall fixes it without losing everything. Please advise!!! Yes, I am in panic mode.

Have updated to yosemite and now can't import tiffs into illustrator. Help!
sued,
It is known that there are CS4/Yosemite issues.
For your issue, you may try to save your TIFF as a Photoshop .eps file and import that.
Or a rollback to Mavericks. -
Upgraded to Yosemite and now can't print wirelessly
Upgraded my 1yr old Mac Pro to Yosemite and now can't print wirelessly to my Epson XP-405 through my wireless home hub! I've tried re-installing new printer drivers etc, throwing away preferences etc... these sometimes work for a single print then goes back to "Printer can't be found". My older iMac doesn't seem to have this problem (yet - fingers crossed!) and prints ok on exactly the same wireless network.
Any suggestions gratefully received. If you haven't done so already, try resetting the printing system.
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system also Yosemite
Network Printer Troubleshooting
If you have the printers IP address open Terminal (Applications/Utilities) and at the prompt type: ping {printerIP}. You will get a reply or failure. -
Deleted an app and now can't get out of settings
help please anyone!! deleted an app and now can't get out of settings....any advice please...
Not sure if you mean the app settings within the app, or the actual settings app. It doesn't really matter anyway .... Close the app or apps and reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
I got some pictures from my PC onto my iPad and now can't get rid of them.

I have taken all my photos off the PC and delegated all the pictures I can from the iPad and did a sync and the photo album that I want rid of is still on my iPad.
You don't take the pictures off the PC you leave them there and tell iTunes that you don't want them on the iPad (by unchecking them) and then sync. That will delete the pictures from the iPad. -
I downloaded a program that was an adware and now can't get rid of it. How do I do it?
I downloaded a program that was an adware with out understanding what it really was and now can't get rid of it. How do I get rid of it?
Click here and follow the instructions, or if they don't cover that type of adware, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

I received an Keynote update notice on my Mac Air. I updated and now can not get into my saved keynote docs. I am being asked to upgrade again and purchase the upgrade. Anyone else having this issue?
Try this repair, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, use Appcleaner from Mac Update to do this, its freeware
2 restart the Mac; Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped. -
I have Norton's security suite under the old version the Idenity protection worked. I kept all my passwords under this which used a master pasword I did not save my passwords any were else and now can not get it to work supplying passwords for my logon site.
Symantec need to correct a mistake they made with their add-ons. They originally updated their add-ons after quite a delay to work with Firefox 4.0 as shown here - http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894
They made an error with the update in only listing it as compatible with Firefox 4.0, so they will not install on Firefox 4.0.1 and subsequent Firefox security updates. Symantec have indicated they will be releasing an update to correct their error soon, for details see http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Norton-Toolbar-not-compatible-with-FF-4-0-1/td-p/442788/page/12 -
I now have Lion on my laptop, and now I cant get Word, or Office or any of my Microsoft for Mac stuff to work. Do I have to buy a new version of all this now that the operating software is Lion instead of leopard?
Support for Office 2004 went away when Lion adandoned support for the Rosetta emulator that let Snow Leopard and earlier run old PPC programs like Office 2004 on an Intel Mac.
The first version of Office that runs natively on an Intel Mac is Office 2008. The current version is Office 2011 and should offer no problems.
Your choice of Office version depends on whether you count on Entourage as your mail client. Office 2008 was the last version to include Entourage. With Office 2011, Entourage was replaced by a Mac version of Outlook BUT you must buy the more expensive "business" version to get Outlook. It does not come with the more affordable "Home/Student" edition. -

Downloaded Yosemite and now can't open photoshop on Mac Book Pro?
I have downloaded Yosemite on MacBook Pro and now can't open photoshop.
I have updated Java but still no help.
Anyone know anything about this please? If you updated the OS after Photoshop 5.x was installed, the nefarious Yosemite disjointed beast damaged your Photoshop installation. Thank Apple for that.
You need to UNinstall Photoshop again, look for, download and run the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool, Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility, install Photoshop from scratch again, apply any and all available Photoshop updates, and ONCE AGAIN Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility—in that precise order.
