I recently changed my laptop and all the iTunes music

I recently got a new laptop and after having all the content from my old one transferred to my new one, I found that all my iTunes music that I had downloaded recently had disappeared. They are visible in the 'purchased' section, but they all have an exclamation mark next to them and I am not able to locate them anywhere on my computer. Any idea where I might be able to find them or can I download them again for free as I've already paid for them?

There is a similar setting for Videos on that Settings screen, so if you leave that 'on' you may have similar happening in the Videos app

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.

Yu can try this program. If unsuccessful, the contents of the iPod will be deleted if yu update/restore with the iPod in recovery mode.

Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?

Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

Have you checked to see if the media files are still on the computer? See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

On your iPhone go to Settings > Store.
Select the Apple ID at the bottom.
Select Sign Out at the menu selection provided.
Follow this by signing in with your new Apple ID/iTunes store account.
All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account that was used to download the apps. In order to install an app update for the apps downloaded with your previous Apple ID/iTunes account, you will need to use that account and password.
