I recently downloaded new Firefox; an option was a new top of the page skin. I don't like ; can't get rid of it. what to do?

After downloading newest firefox an option showed up: do you want one on these new skins to top your opening page? I opted for one of them and now can't get rid of it. I prefer the old . What's there now looks like a background for several toolbars. Contrast is bad.

You can set Firefox back to using the default theme. Open the add-ons manager (in the tools menu select Add-ons), in the add-ons manager go to the Themes panel. Click on the Default theme in the list of themes then click on the "Use Theme" button.
For more details see using themes with Firefox.

whenever i am opening a new tab - yahoo search page is opening up. How can I get rid of this. I want a blank page to be open up instead of yahoo search page in new tab.

This might be a feature of the Yahoo toolbar. Can you live without it? To disable or remove the toolbar, use
    Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category
After restarting Firefox, do new tabs become blank again?

  • Recently, whenever a pop window opens with a prompt the window has a tab, so I have to resize the window in order to click on the action "enter" or "save". How can I get rid of this?

I'm a blogger and I use a web based text editor and when I input photos I have to click on a button that opens a popup where I put in the URL of the photo and have to hit "ok". In the last few weeks the pop up windows now automatically have a tab and I have to expand the window (resize) in order to click "ok". Considering that it only adds the tab AFTER I press paste/ctrl-v is so annoying and time consuming. It never used to do this before - what happened?
This started around the time I installed stumbleupon toolbar but I'm not sure if they're related. I took the toolbar off my default browser window and it doesn't show up on the popups. But just thought I'd give that info in case it's causing it somehow?
I don't know how to fix this :(

You get an alert about resending POST data if you go back to a page that was previously requested from the server by submitting form data via a POST form.<br />
Firefox can only make sure to get the same page by resending that POST form.<br />
Firefox doesn't know what that form data means, so Firefox asks for confirmation before resending that form data as such an action can cause you to repeat an action and buy another item or post a message another time.<br />
A way to prevent that pop-up is not to use the Back button, but to open links from a page that was requested from a server by sending a POST form in a new tab (window) with a middle-click or a Ctrl + left-click.<br />
Then you can close that tab or window to go back.<br />

  • On opening after  "sleep" I get a pop up saying "disc was not ejected properly etc. Going on for months! How can I get rid of it, please?  Peter

On awakening iMac after sleep, I get a pop up saying "The disc was not ejected properly....." etc. Presumably this was a disc of photos or a slideshow I had put onto a disc at some time past.  This has been going on for months. I have inserted and ejected thru Finder all the discs I have, and still it persists. Any ideas of how to get rid of it, please?

phillashby, if you just upgraded ML to 10.8.5 then the problem may be caused by a bug in the upgrade.  If you look around the forum other people are having the same problem after going to 10.8.5
I recently upgraded to OS 10.8.5 and now when my iMac (late 2012) wakes from sleep I get the error mesage that my Lacie external thunderbolt raid drive has been ejected improperly. Then it reconnects right away. I will stay away from the sleep mode for the moment.

*Highlight an entry in the drop down list
*Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

  • HT1920 I was recently asked for account info on an account that used an email address that had been hacked. how can I get rid of this account record or the account itself.

I was recently asked for a password for an email on the App store. The email was very old and was one that was hacked so I removed it from my email list. Now I have no record of the account, its password or security questions, and obviously I can't receive email on the account. How can I eliminate this account. I may have already divulged ninfo to this address that could get into the hands of a hacker.

Email size limits are imposed by mail providers, not the operating system.  They usually vary in the 20-25 MB range.
The limit is for an individual email plus any attachments it may have.  The only way to release that email message is to reduce the size of the attachment if you can do so.  The limitation itself is from your email provider so there isn't anything you can do to change the limit.

There's a lot there, so I'll start with the parts I can answer quickly.
The "ACL found but not expected..." messages can be safely ignored, so says this article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306925
(look below all the "SUID" examples)
I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern.

    Hi Jodyw1
You can't drag the margins around. Those blue lines you are creating are called alignment guides - they don't print.
When you open the inspector, click the far left icon called the Document Inspector. In there you will see numerical values for your document margins. This is the starting point for every page.
The second icon from the left is called the Layout Inspector. This allows you to adjust the margin in a particular section from the document margin.
Finally, make sure you have Show Comments turned off i.e. you can see Show Comments in the View Menu.
    I hope that helps.

  • I downloaded fbdownloader and now having a oproblem with random window opening with other websites and a link on firefox I can't get rid of

I downloaded fbdownloader and after doing so I noticed changes in my facebook and I am getting random webpages popping up on new windows. there is a link on my facebook that I can't get rid of and I have uninstalled this program but seems there is lingering things that I can't get rid of. You have probably downloaded malware. Do a Microsoft Security Scan at http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner to check for viruses and tell me the result

  • I went to Firefox extentions to remove facesmooch, but there isn't any extensions listed, how else can i get rid of it?

I downloaded a free youtube downloader and told it I didn't want facesmooch, but it installed it anyway and now I can't get rid of it. I have tried going to the add-ons manager and removing it from the extensions, but there are no extensions listed, it isn't in add/remove programs, the file I downloaded isn't a folder so I can't "get in to it", and I have uninstalled and deleted all content related to the youtube downloader. Please help me get rid of facesmooch.

Sounds like some form of ad-aware.
Boot up your pc in safe mode w/ networking, open FF and type "about:plugins" in the url address bar. Take note of anything that looks like it may be associated w/ "Facemooch". Close FF and do a search for any malicious looking files listed under the plugin section and append "bak" to the extension. You may need to open task manager prior to doing this to ensure the file isn't running, if "rundll32.exe or a malicious looking file, a simple search should be able to determine this, end the task prior to changing the extension (ie. somefile.dll.bak) <- this can be changed in the search wizard.
Fire up msconfig while your still in Safe Mode, and uncheck any startup programs that are of unknown origin. (this does not delete anything, but just keeps it from booting at startup) msconfig should be available from the run command, just type in "msconfig" and enter.
norton also has a freeware program called "autorun", very useful in stopping malicious files in their tracks.
Most file validity can usually be determined by the directory they are lying in, for example, most viruses or malicious programs tend to load themselves into the c://windows/system32 directory or root directory (synonym).

  • I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.

I have recently downloaded OS X Mountain Lion on my new MacBook Air.   I have Safari 6.0.  I no longer see the "Empty Cache" option on the Safari drop down menu.  Where did it go?  How can I recover it?
    Gloria

    Safari 6
Mountain Lion comes with Safari 6.
Apple removed "Empty Caches" from Safari menu.
    1. Now clearing history clears caches and favicons.
    2. Enable Develop menu.
         Safari > Preferences > Advanced
At the bottom check the box "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in menu bar.
Click Develop and from the dropdown select "Empty Caches".
    Best.
