Not Stupid! I should have been more specific. I'm still new to iphones. I changed my itunes password and ID at the itunes store my computer. I'm not having problems with my email. I'm having problems downloading and updating apps (probably music as well). After it asks for the password, a message comes up saying my itunes store password is incorrect. It works on line though. If it's a POP account and you set it up in Mail with the option to delete read messages from the server, then you can indeed no longer read it on the server. You may be able to restore the messages to the server if you also have IMAP access. Ask your mail service provider whether it's possible.

Welcome to Discussions - the fact that the S.M.A.R.T. status is not recognized and the flashing questions mark appear seem to indicate that your hard drive has failed. If you have access to TechToolPro or Disk Warrior, try to use them to check the drive status. This will likely not work, and I'm afraid your disk is toast.
You could try to remove the drive and put it in an external case and try to mount it on your MacBook, but I don't hold out much hope for that either. You can try using [Data Rescue|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/211375] to retrieve your data.
You can also take it in to Apple and see what they say. Please let us know how things turn out,

I keep getting the same message about my computer not being authorized (when it is) when syncing my iPod. How can I get my purchases on my device?

The problem you are facing is basically a conflict of apple id authorisations. Some of the apps on your ipod were downloaded using one apple id that you created sometime earlier and recently you probably created another apple id to download some apps. This conflict between the two apple id;s is what is preventing your computer from syncing with your ipod and you will consistently get the message saying that your computer is not authorised. To correct this problem you need to authorise your computer with both or all the apple id's that you created ie the current one and the past one's that you created sometime in the past.
So click on the 'Store' button on the main menu bar on itunes and then click 'Authorise this computer' you will get a pop up window asking you to enter your apple id and password complete the process for both or all your apple id's separately each time. Once your computer is authorised for all the apple id's you created you will have no problem syncing your I POD. This is the only way to solve this issue as the conflict is with the authorisation in thr system software which checks every app or download with the actual apple id you used when downloading the app.
This will resolve the conflict and it will work.

I am stuck with a google theme behind the bookmark tab bar and url box. How do I get rid of it? changing themes isn't the issue - it's just all stuck in back!

I set a theme on igoogle - but it seems to now be embedded in my firefox as it is behind the url box, behind the bookmark tab bar and at the bottom of the page. How do I get rid of it. I can still change themes but they stay on the google page as they should. this has nothing to do with my screen saver and my desktop screens - they are different and ok - seems to be stuck in Firefox particularly.

Apple can't find it for you. You have to go to icloud.com on a computer and sign into the iCloud account that was used on the phone, then see if you can track it as described here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442. If you don't know the password for your iCloud account you won't be able to sign in to track it.
If it was stolen, contact the police and your carrier, and change your passwords.

My audiobook did not download correctly and cuts off after 1.5 hrs. How do I redownload to phone and computer?

I have an I-phone 4. I downloaded an audiobook onto it and after an hour and a half, it stops playing. I tried to transfer the audiobook to my computer hoping to redownload it but only 1.5 transferred. I cannot even listen to it on my computer. Any ideas how to redownload?

You restore the phone using iTunes. If the code was set after the last time you synced or you do not have access to the computer the phone is synced with, google 'iPhone recovery mode'. You will have to place the phone into recovery mode to restore it.

Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer (except purchased content as mentioned below). For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod.
