I recently had to set my laptop back to factory settings, thus had to reinstall Itunes. I connected my Ipod to the lap top my songs went back to my Itunes but when I add new songs and try to sync my Ipod, the new songs won't appear on my Ipod. Help me!!

You may want to reset your iPod nano and then sync again. If the issue persists, restore your iPod and try again. See these articles for the steps:

Restore your media from the backup of the computer created prior to restoring the computer.
You did create a backup, correct? Not doing so would be extremely unintelligent.
iOS devices are NOT backup devices.

Synch your contacts back from whichever program on your computer you've stored them in (Outlook, Address Book) or from your cloud service.
Not using your phone as indended and didn't have your contacts on your computer or with a cloud service? Then they're gone.

During a error updating, I had to reinstall iTunes. When proceeding to install iTunes, the installer chooses M:// I dont have a M drive, I click change and the iTunes installer crashes. I've tried everything, help!

Heres the isse:
When updating iTunes, after the restart I booted up iTunes and it crashed. I was prompted with iTunes had been updated incorrectly and to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. After downloading the installer from itunes.ca. I opened up the application, and clicked Next. Under the directory it says M Drive, I dont have an M drive at all, I click change and a prompt pops that says, "The volume M:/ is currently unavailable. Please select another." with "ok" being the only selection.
After hitting ok, it says "itunes installer completed" "Errors occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click Finish to exit the installer." Finish is the only selectable, and upon restarting the installer the same thing happens. I hope theres someone who can help me out with this.

It has been shown there are problems with the latest update of iTunes and Windows computers. What you need to do is remove and reinstall iTunes, and make sure that you follow the steps in this support document exactly. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923. If you do not follow them exactly, you will just compound your problems. Once you do this, you should have no trouble having the phone recognized in iTunes.

HT3842 I recently had to reinstall iTunes because the program was missing components. Once I did my entire library was erased, can I get it back?

My PC wasn't connecting to the Internet at my home so I did a restore. Once complete, I tried to open iTunes but it said there were components missing and to re-install my Full Library was in the iTunes Music folder but after the re-installation it was all erased. I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I'm worried that if I synch now it will delete the extra music from my iPod, some of which I don't have available to re-rip etc.. Are you now using a different username from the one you used prior to migrating? If so that is the reason for the problem. You might, then, give this a try:
To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Thanks but I already did read all of the help notes, which aren't very helpful for this. I did find out the problem- Apple.....they evidently changed one of the major upsides to their old software- being able to back up your entire library onto dvd's- so you can longer do that or restore from the dvds created from older versions of itunes. I suspect greed is at play in that Apple now wants you to pay $24.95 per year to use a "cloud" service where they back it up for you. I can buy a lifetime supply of back up dvds for one year's worth of cloud. So I am now looking into other music software as I am Appled-out. There is no reason for them to take away the back up portion of the software other than to sell you thrir cloud service. As we have already given them a ton of money for 5 Ipods and a bunch of music, I think we have contributed enough. Time to look to solutions outside of the Apple money tree. But thank you for reading and replying.
