I recently installed the latest update 8.3 and since then I am not getting sound effects on my iPad. Why?

I recently installed the 8.3 uplate to my iPad and since then I have not been getting sound effects eg on games and sent emails etc. Why?

Most likely Mute has accidently been turned on via the Control Center or Side Switch.

    iTunes is quite friendly, and very powerful....   You probably just need to set up automatic syncing in iTunes.
    If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Select the iPod there.
    To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
    Check the box for Sync Music.  This setting enables automatic syncing for music.  If your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  From the lists below, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod.
    Here's one convenient way to set this up.  In your iTunes library, create one or more playlists.  Add the ALL the songs you want on the iPod to those playlists.  OR, you can use existing playlists.  Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.  (You can select other items on those lists, if desired.)
    When you click Apply, the songs in your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update your iPod (add/remove songs), just update those playlists in your iTunes library.  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes.
    NOTE:  On the bar of buttons that starts with Summary, click on the other buttons (such as Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.) to set up syncing for those iTunes media categories.

    Connect your iPad to your computer and run iTunes. Select your iPad in iTunes and try to run the update there. Updating requires a lot less free space on the iPad when updating through iTunes on a computer because the update files will be downloaded to and extracted on the computer.

    Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
    I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
    You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
    In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
    You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

    Sounds to me like the battery has failed.
    You can take it to an Apple Store.  They MAY be able to do something..  Or, you can find parts and "How-To" repair guides on the internet.  eBay and Google are your friends...

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    I installed the latest update of Mavericks from the App Store today and after restarting my system it doesn't go beyond the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. I tried resetting the NVRAM but it still has the same problem.

  • HT4623 I installed the latest update this morning and my phone turned off and won't turn back on.  Help!

    My battery was fully charged.  The notice for an update came up so I told it to start.  Then the phone shut off and won't turn back on.  When I plug it back in, I can hear it "revving" but it still won't turn on.  Any ideas?

    Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.

    Hmm, certainly no expert here, but is there another phone that can verify that the wireless router is functioning properly? Afterwords, I'd likely do a full back up in iTunes and then wipe and reinstall 8.1. Test the wireless under fresh install conditions and see how it behaves. If it now functions as expected you could then do a full restore from the back up you made. Others may have better ideas however.

    This has been really frustrating me today, I downloaded the new version of itunes today and now it seems that my ipod will no longer connect to itunes. when I plug the usb cable into my laptop it recognizes it is there but itunes doesn't detect that it is there.
    it doesn't even open the itunes up when i plug it in, this is really bugging so any help would be great.

    You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected.     Same issue for me, recently I started having issues with apps no longer being able to access my Facebook account. But the iPad Facebook account settings will not accept my password, even though the Facebook app and Safari can access my account fine. The only significant events I recall that have occurred that may have triggered this have been that via my Facebook account I killed off a lot of so called authorised connections and I changed my user name, but still have the same email address and password.
    I have tried just about every solution put forward on the net, short of a factory restore, back to new, on my iPad.
    I have also; deleted my iCloud account, deleted the Facebook app and account, deleted Safari data.
    One would think that after I have deleted my account from the iPad that it would ask for both username/email address and password, but it only asks for password, so the username is still stored somewhere that I am unable to delete.
    I also see that no one seems to have been able to get an answer from Apple. So I'm guessing they have absolutely no idea themselves.
    I am hesitant to put my username on Facebook back to what it was as Facebook only give you a few chances to change your username, then you are locked.
    I have iOS 7.1.1 installed.
    I did have a lot of respect for Apple and their devices as they just worked, but they are becoming tarnished by ignoring what seems to be a growing issue.
