I recently lost all my photos on Iphoto and I get this message:
"Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable." When I follow the instructions it givves me, nothing happens. It just keeps going back to the same error message. Are my pics gone forever?
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

i emptied my trash, and then went through the applications and deleted the ones i don't use (such as PDA and palm pilot applications and the games that i will never play). After i was done, i went back to iphoto and all the albums and pictures were gone. I went into picture project (a nikon software) and those pictures were gone, but had the little boxes of blank pictures. My desktop originally had a picture on it that i downloaded from a camera was gone as well. when i logged onto another account those pictures were still there. When i logged back onto my account, my desktop picture came back, leading me to believe that my pictures are still there. But those are gone too. Is there anyway i can retrive my pictures? I really hope they are not gone! I have too many pictures...and only half of them backed up! =(i'm talking about the desktop trash. I don't know how to empty the iphoto trash.
No, i didn't delete anything with iphoto. i know i can delete duplicates, and still keep one of the pictures, i have done that before. I did delete Chess, Deimos Rising, Ambrosia Software Web, Kinoma, Palm, PDA Shop Lists, PDA Money, PDA Safe ID, Splash ID, Splash Money, Splash Shopper.
I logged under a different user name, and all those pictures were still in iphoto and picture project.
No, i did not contradict myself. The desk top picture did come back, leading me to believe that all the photos were still there. However, when i checked the iphoto and picture project, those were still gone. -
I'm trying to email from iPhoto and I get this message:
"The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
What do I do?Making sure your email account settings are correct will cure this problem IF you have an email account such as gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc. But if you have your own personal domain hosted by a company like 1and1, there seems to be no way around this bug - emailing from within iPhoto using an email account such as [email protected] will not work.
The only work around I have found is to set the settings in iphoto to send emails using "Mail" rather than "iPhoto"
Really annoying as this means you cannot use the nice templates within iPhoto for mailing....
Apple acknoweldged to me that this is a known bug, but they have not said if it will ever be fixed in iPhoto11. We may have to wait for iPhoto13? -

Are you sure, you are viewing the correct iPhoto library? iPhoto may have created a new Library.
Hold down the alt/options key ⌥, while you double click iPhoto to launch it. Is there more than one Photo Library in the panel that opens? Then try the other libraries, if your photos are in there.

I recently moved all my photos from iphoto to Aperture. I had several iphoto books and cards in my project file. When everything was moved to Aperture I can't find any of the books or card projects. Are they gone or can they be restored?
1 - without specifics I have no idea how to help
2 - the question was "are you trying to use them in iPhoto? " - it sounds like you are - to do so you will have to export them from Aperature and import into iPhoto
3 - for information on how to use them in Aperature then you need to ask about how to use Aperature in the Aperature forum as it does not involve iPhoto

I have a iPhone 5. In usage, it says i have 2.1 gigs used because of photos and camera. I have deleted all my photos via iPhoto and now reset the phone back to factory settings in order to try to solve this problem, to no avail. Both iTunes and the phone say that 2.1 gigs are being used, even though the phone now has nothing on it. What is going on?
Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

hello i accidentally synced all my photos from Iphoto and they doubled, i removed them all eventually to re-import them again, but i have no camera folder anymore and i have a folder called "From Mac" how can i turn it back to normal?

Since installing OS X 10.7.5 and iPhoto 9.4, I can no longer export photos from iPhoto. I get a message that "iPhoto quit unexpectedly while using the HPPhotoExport plugin."
Trash the HPPHoto Export Plugin
/Library/Application Support/iPhoto/*/HPPhotoExport
Remember you have two Libraries:
HD/Library and
HD/Users/Your Name/ Library
On 10.7: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library
It may be in either.

I have imported a jpeg photo into iPhoto and cannot get the Places map tp show. I have tried the Help file and the information was not helpful. Can anyone give advice here?
I am using iPhoto 9.1.1. When I select thephoto, then Places I get the window (Places to lookup disabled). When I hit theInfo button I get the size an JPEG notification, and Faces and Key words. The “reverse” of thepicture shows a window with Rotate, Hide, Trash etc.
When I select Places, get the Google worldmap, and this case a pin on Sydney Australia showing that eighteen photos arecorrectly placed. I am unable to make the connection to San Francisco wherethis particular photo was taken on a very modern camera.

I'm trying to sync my iphone in IPhoto. I get this message "your MobileMe account information is not correct". "The provided login or password is not valid." when I click on the "Open MobileMe Preferences" button, it doesn't take me there. Help please.
Mobile me has been discontinued for over a year. What system and iPhoto versions are you running?
How are you trying to sync? With Photo Stream or thru iTunes?
Do you have an iCloud preference pane in your System preferences?
Do you meet the minimum requirements for iCloud and Photo Stream?

All my apps now appear in the purchases section of App store and iMovie also updated itself.
I have only one ID software is presinstalled and software was "not hidden" or even showing...I just got various error messages and ID errors.
It was not spotlight indexing either.

Close Mac App Store
Go into this folder
/Library/Application Support/App Store
Drag this file to the desktop
adoption.plist
Repen Mac App Store and log in
If it fixes your problem, great, if not, you can move the old adoption.plist file back"

I did something stupid, and lost all my photos in iPhoto
So, I thought I was in a specific Album with 5 photos in it I wanted to remove from iPhoto. I hit Apple-A to select all and hit delete. It wasn't until a moment later that I realized I must have actually been in my Library, and removed ALL my photos from iPhoto.
Now, all the Albums still appear in the left of iPhoto (6.0, BTW), but when I click on the albums, no photos appear. I went through my hard drives and dragged the appropriate photos back to their original Albums to reimport them into iPhoto. This worked fine with old photos I had organized BEFORE I switched to importing everything in iPhoto.
When I try to import those newer photos, the ones imported through iPhoto over the past couple of years, I keep getting the following error: "The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain valid data)." The files are fine...I'm just trying to import them from their organized roll folder in the iPhoto folder under Photos. Sometimes, I will also get an error that says the file is "already in the iPhoto library."
Is there some kind of preference or something I need to delete so I can reimport these photos from the iPhoto folder into iPhoto again?EditThis:
If you did not empty the iPhoto Trash via the iPhoto menu the photos will still be in the iPhoto trash container in the Source pane. Click on the trash icon, select all of the photos and drag to the Library icon at the top of the Source pane. They will be returned to their rolls and albums.
The reason you're getting that message is you're trying to import photos that are within the iPhoto Library folder. That can't be done.

I went to open iphoto and received an error message, asking me to restore iphoto. I do have a backup but not sure how to restore. I thought I would just update iphoto with a new version, but my operating system is too old. How do I get all (14,000) photos off this computer. I have tried to transfer my iphoto library to an external hard drive but the 'finder cant complete operation because some data in iphoto cant be read or written - error code 36. please help

You can update via the Support Downloads, just not to v9.5 or later. But it's probably best to fix the issue before you update.
