I recently moved computers. how do i get all my movies+music?

My old computer broken a hard drive issue. is there a way to get my music+movies back? if so it will be really helpful

Music can now be redownloaded in certain countries (books and apps too). This article provides some additional information on how to do this:

Keep in mind that only items that are still available in iTunes will be restored - if something has been removed from the Store or even taken down and modified since you bought it this feature won't be able to retrieve it.
Movies are a content type that isn't currently available in the iCloud though unfortunately. You can try emailing iTunes support and explaining what happened, and they may be able to retrieve your movies for you from their end. But the iTunes policy is generally to back your stuff up so they also aren't obligated to do so. You can also try the email route if you find that music redownloads aren't available in your country.

Installing iTunes and logging into a user's account has never caused media to magically appear on a computer.
Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

I recommend downloading the songs from your list of purchased songs in the iTunes Store. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase the songs, you will not be charged for the songs.

How do I get all of the music on my computer to transfer to my Iphone? For some reason, itunes has picked up some songs but not others. example, I have several CD's loaded in which only 1 or 2 songs from the CD shows up in itunes.

I have about 70 Cd's loaded on my computer as I had previously owned another MP3 device before I got enamored with the Ipad and Iphone. My problem is itunes will not recognize all of this music. To give a specific example, I have an old Bon Jovi Cd "crossroads" , itunes only recognizes 2 songs off the Cd. How can I get itunes to recognize these songs? They do not show up on itunes anywhere but if i go to my music folder I can locate the songs and it even shows the itunes logo but, the songs will not play with itunes. I've got a few hours of music i would like to have on my iphone. Can anyone please help me with this?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the computer, then sync.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your computer - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

The MOV file extension simply refers to the file container. In this case, the MOV file container is the "generic" QT container that may contain any valid audio/video compression combination compatible/support on the system that created the file. For instance, if the movie was created on a system with FCP installed on it, that originator of the file may have used a compression codec not available on your system if you do not also have this application installed. The same holds for similar codecs like MPEG-2, DivX, XviD, WMV, etc. In some cases the codec may even be a legacy codec which will run in QT 7 but not the QT X player app.
In short, your best approach is to determine what audio and vide codecs are involved and then see if they are supported on your system. You can normally do this by checking the Finder Info window for the file or opening it in an alternative media player that supports playback and checking that app's media info window. For instance, the VLC media player supplies its own codecs and therefore does not rely on your system's QT component configuration.

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. How can I get all of my music onto my iphone 5 from itunes on my computer, when it is only syncing the music i purchased from itunes store directly?

Everything was fine until I got a USB drive from a friend to download a new album onto my itunes from her. I struggled to get the music synced onto my iphone 5, but it got into itunes fine on my laptop. So I ended up resyncing the whole device, and apparently this means it only could transfer the songs that I had bought from itunes, and none of the previous music I had from cds, etc that I had added to itunes by myself over the years. Now on itunes it has a cautin sign for every single non itunes purchased song saying it does not know where to find the song and can not play it. My iphone now only has 43 songs (the ones I bought from itunes store) and is missing the other 2000 I have. Does anyone know how to fix this for me???? I am desperate! I'm using windows 8 on this new laptop and am beyond confused!
Also it might be important to note that I had itunes on an older laptop and within the past year i have transfered everything to a new laptop, so perhaps since the original music folders were on the old laptop, it cant find them? I don't know, I am not great with technology, but desperate please!!!
