Did you try using Preview. If you control click on the PDF on your desktop you can use the "open with" option.

Cannot open Adobe Reader XI or any PDF file

When I try to open Adobe Reader XI or any PDF file, it says that it "cannot open in Protected Mode due to an incompatibility with your system configuration. Would you like to open Adobe Reader with Protected Mode disabled?" When I choose open with Protected Mode disabled, it then displays "Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL.” Please help. Thank you. I DL ver 9,10,11 of Free Adobe Reader - cannot open any PDF file.

I get an error message "The instructions at xxxx referenced memory at xxxx. The memory could not be written." What is wrong?

tI did as you instructed and got no good results. I even restored my Adobe files from several weeks ago from Carbonite and could not load Adobe REader nor open any PDF file that I was previously able to open.
When I try to open a PDF file, I get a web page that has two panes. One pane on the left has a red box area with some options. The pane on the right is grey and has some options. The web page disappears after about 5 seconds so I can't read it all.
I tried opening three files after reinstalling Adobe Reader and after restoring my Adobe files. One folder that I restored as "Cache" and had a file inside called "AcrobatFnt11 then another file called AdobeCMapFnt11 and the other file called AdobeSysFnt11.
I'm extremely anxious to be able to open and load all my PDF files like I was able to for years before.

Adobe Reader X change the PDF version after saved

Hi all,
I recently discovered a weird behavior of Adobe Reader X (free version) regarding the .PDF version document.
I scanned just before the week-end a series of documents with default 1.4 version, I checked several and all were ok, Scanner did the job well.
The only problem is that every time I opened a document and save it under a different name, or replace under the same name – Save As option (Shift+Ctrl+S); the version of the document is automatically changed from 1.4 to 1.5; This is very annoying since I do not need 1.5 document version I use only 1.4.
Is there a way to work around this? I mean the Adobe Reader X should not keep the version 1.4 and not change it to 1.5

Adobe reader won't open pdf files

I was hoping someone can help. I have Windows XP, and I use Firefox as my web browser. I have installed Adobe Reader, and when I click on a pdf link, in the lower left field of the screen it reads as follows: 'connecting, waiting, stopped' it repeats this over, and over, and over. I eventually have to right click and save the link to the desktop, but this is becoming entirely too frustrating........I have since uninstalled Adobe, and re-installed it, but nothing changed. I even uninstalled Firefox and re-installed, but to no avail.
If anyone has a fix, I am open to your suggestions.

Adobe Reader is not opening pdf files - there is no Accept button on License Agreement

Please help. I am unable to open any pdf files with Adobe Reader 9.4.0. I get taken to an Adobe Reader License Agreement page that says "Press the Accept button to Agree to the License Agreement and Continue." However, there is no accept button to press! Every timne I try to open a pdf file, I get taken back to the same Adobe Reader License Agreement page, with no Accept button. How do I get out of this dead-end loop? I have followed Adobe's tips on how to "Change" the file through the Control Panel in order to correct the problem, but I still end up in the same dead-end loop. What's the solution?

You can open Reader,click on right arrow key on your keyboard (it will change focus from Decline to Accept) and hit Enter....

In Adobe Reader 9.5.1 it was enough to mark this option just once.

My current Ver is 11.0.07 and the"view all recent files" selection is found by clicking on file and in the drop down menu it is the selection just above the list of recent files

Try:
Open Finder > Preferences, then make sure that the "Show all filename extensions" is enabled
In Finder, right-click any file with a .pdf extension, then click "Get Info"
In the "Open With" section, choose either "Preview.app" or "Adobe Reader"
Then click the "Change All..." button
Your PDFs should now open in that application.

By waiting I installed Foxit but I would understand.
I uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled but it's still the same.

PDF is searchable with FoxIt but not in Adobe Reader X. Exact same .PDF file is loaded. Why?

I have been trying to figure out why my .PDF file was not searchable in Adobe Reader X. I downloaded and installed FoxIt PDF software to see if it was a problem only in Adobe Reader X and to my amazement it was Adobe Reader X that is the failure. But why? Does anyone else experience this issue. That is, loading .PDF files that are not searchable in Adobe Reader X but work perfectly fine in FoxIt?

Repeated Error Message with Adobe Reader after opening up PDF files

After experiencing this problem, not being that computer savvy I figured I'd remove the existing Adobe Reader from my computer and download a new version in the hopes of eliminating the problem. When I do so, I get message "The patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer Patch Package."

Here are my responses as best as I can address them:
1. Adobe 10.0.1
2. I believe it is Windows XP
3. I was unable to remove the existing Adobe version because of the "patch
package could not be opened......" I believe i may have inadvertently
downloaded this patch via www.secunia.ocom "Personal Software Inspector"
program (Untitled (1)).. Using the older version alone when opening up PDF
documents resulting in their closing and my getting an error message
("Untitled and Untitled (2))..
4. I was able to successfully download Adobe 10.1.0. However, it won't allow
me to download required updates.
As a result of this mess, I have the 2 versions of Adobe on my computer,
which is allowing me to open up PDF files on my computere.
Again, I'm not terribly computer savvy. I'm simply trying to find a way to
remove the old version and work with the new version.
Hope this helps, as I'm stumped. Thanx for your assistance.
