I recently reinstalled windows on my computer which means I have lost all of my music files. Is there any way I can get them back? I have one copy of the majority of the music on my i pod and the rest is (hopfully) backed up on an external hard-drive I was hoping I wouldnt have to get them back from the copy on the external hard-drive ... is there any other way of gettin them back?

No. You'll either need to copy them from the backup drive or copy them from your iPod into your new (empty) iTunes library.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off" -
My itunes erased all my music, how can i get it back?
After i imported new music from a cd, I synced my iphone with itunes on my computer. I've done this before with no problems but this time after I ejected my iphone, all my music, videos and everything was erased from itunes on my computer. how do i get it back? If the music was purchased from iTunes you can redownload it for free (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). If not you will either have to re-import all your music to rebuild your library, or purchase 3rd party software that can transfer it from your phone to iTunes such as Touch Copy.

I bought and downloaded some music off of the internet on my laptop that uses Windows 8. How can I get my music to open automatically in my itunes instead of opening in the music app (the orange sqaure with headphones)? Currently I have had to often downloads and sift through all my files to find the ones I want to open into itunes, and it's irritating.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Installing iTunes does not and has never caused media to magically appear on the computer.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer (or backup of the old computer) to the new computer. -

I have been purchasing songs from itunes for the past year. I have over 100 songs. I recently got a new computer and I synched the iphone to it. I can't find 90% of my music. Where is it and how can I get it back? I checked itunes under purchased and it only shows 13 songs. Please help.
You can only sync with one computer. When you synced to the new computer it would have erased it and synced what was on the new computer.
You always need to have a backup, an iPhone is not a storage device.
When you get a new computer you need to transfer your library before syncing
If you don't have a backup you may be out of luck
The only thing would be if you're in the US and have access to the iCloud beta to reload purchases

I have bought full access to it.1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

This was the scenario:
The first time I updated, it was only my music that was lost.
When I got my music back, I lost my apps.
When I got my apps back, my contacts, notes and photos were lost.
Now I got back everything except for my photos.
(Yes, I restored from backup several times since the first update.)
Do you think if I try restoring from back up, my photos that were taken from my ipod will be restored finally?
