I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 6.0 and all my contacts have updated

Since completing the recent iPhone iOS 6.0 update, all my contact details have updated as well and I'd like to know how this happened. For example, a friend who I only had in with her first name, now has first and last name? Other contacts have added middle names and others with new email addresses and phone numbers. My contact details have also been updated on other people's phones with other email addresses and phone numbers. This is a tad concerning... what if I didn't want these people to have these other details? How did apple get this information and push it out to people's phones. Not all of these friends are 'facebook' friends either, so accessing details through facebook doesn't explain it.

This could quite possibly be the result of a messed up facebook contact integration. Do you have a recent back-up?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing you should do is have your friend log out of your account and change your password.
Do you have a back up from when you had the contacts on your phone.

There is no ios7 yet! Connect your ipad to your computer, sync, then click update. You will now have the new ios6.x.x. If no computer, touch the settings button on your idevice and you should see a 1 on that. follow that for the update over wifi or network. give you self some time if doing it with the wifi

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep/on/off and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

First off, iOS 5 will not run on Macs. You need to give us your Mac OS X on your Mac to determine which security update you need. Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac. And then read the link here:

Purchasing more Storage on iCloud will not increase the Storage Capacity of your iDevice.
You need to Delete Content from your iDevice...
Goto... Settings > General > Usage > Storage = Then Delete Content...

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

I synced my mum's iPhone 3G for the first time tonight and all her contacts have been erased.

I have a MacBook and I synced her iPhone 3G to transfer the contacts to the Mac, but after the phone was finished syncing I went to Address Book and I could only find the contacts from my iPhone 4. I can't find mum's contacts anywhere on my Mac, and they're gone from her phone.
Does anyone know if there's any way I can get the contacts back on to either the Mac or the iPhone? I've never really used Address Book much and I know there's some sort of problem syncing the 3Gs... Please help!! :'(

Ouch, loosing data is never fun. Sad to say the contacts are gone from the phone and can't be recovered there.
iOS devices are currently designed to have their data managed by one computer. Connecting to another computer and syncing it takes ownership. Thus, overwriting the data. You need to have it connected back up to the her computer to get the data back.
If there are contacts on her phone that she wishes to share with you, then share them individually from her Contacts on her phone, or export them from her iCal (if using a Mac OS system).
I am using a white iPhone 3G and have never had issues syncing, nor heard of that being an issue.

The most resent Firefox update has a conflicting application with adobe and all pdf files have to open firefox before opening

My issue started with downloading the most current Firefox. Firefox opens multiple empty tabs (20 -30 or more) every time I use adobe reader. I changed the action for a content type to show adobe reader. It was showing open the file in adobe in Firefox. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice and this did not work. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and Air but could not uninstall Adobe Flash Player because of a conflicting Application with Firefox. I then uninstalled Firefox and was able to uninstall Adobe Flash Player. I reinstalled Adobe Reader only and then Firefox. I no longer have multiple empty tabs opening up but each time I open a pdf file, Firefox has to open as well. I am operating on Windows 7 Home edition. Can some one help this is a nuisance.

Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).
