I recently upgraded to ios 6.1.2 via Wifi.
When I got to a my office computer (not wifi) to sync my phone, I was told that I had to uninstall iTunes and Apple Support, and reinstall them? Is there any fix for this? I don't want to take a chance on losing all of my data. Is there a bug fix, or another way to get the firmware update into my existing iTunes setup?

Correction: There is no "supported" way to go back to a previous firmware. That aside, if you are having difficulty with WiFi following the upgrade to 6.1.2, you can always call applecare support and request assistance. Be sure to tell them that the problem occured following the upgrade to 6.1.2.

If you upgrade your iPhone, your only choice will be to upgrade to the current version (iOS 8.1.2 at the moment). So your choices are:
Upgrade to current iOS.
Stay at the iOS version you have currently.
Purchase a new, more capable iPhone (and possibly sell your current one).
One additional comment: If you upgrade, you can never go back. -
I recently upgraded to iOS 8. Looks like the pics I had in my messages are no longer appearing as pictures, rather they are appearing as JPEG files (not broken jpegs). I need to get these pics. Can't figure out how to do it. I'm on an iPhone 5C.
I've tried resetting my phone, looking for the pics in the new 'deleted' folder. I tried forwarding the jpegs to sees if they'll appear in a new message (but turnout the phone won't let me forward these pics). Apple is trying to say it's the 30 day reason, but I know that is not the problem. ALl of my pics older than 30 days were viewable. It is the upgrade that screwed this up. Help! As for iPhoto, it sounds like you were trying to move files around in the library. That is a bib no-no in Aperture or iPhoto. -
I have an iphone 4 that I recently upgraded to IOS 7, and now I cant drag music to it. It says "preparing to update" eternally. Weird thing is... I have an iphone 3s that is IOS 6, and it takes new music all day. arg.
I have tried direct connecting the iphone 4, via wifi, everything. I hate itunes with a passion, but it seems to be a necessary evil. I dont know why I would have no trouble with my iphone 3. I am using the same technique for both phones. Find the music I want in the library and drag it to the iphone. Works on IOS 6, not IOS 7.

After the recent upgrade to ios 8 ipad air has no audio coming outI had the same problem until tonight. Played with ring tones, do not disturb, volume, and everything else posted. What I found is that when you go to sounds/text tone, there are two types of tones in the scrolling menu. The top set of tones are for alert tones and the bottom set are ringtones. They are separated by a gray bar that states their purpose. Many of the tones are the same name. You need to set your text alert in the Ringtones and reminders, alarms, and such in alerts. The weird thing about this menu is when you go to sounds/ringtone the menu is reversed. Mine works in locked mode or unlocked now. I have an Iphone 6 8.1.2. My problem started after my latest OS upgrade. Hope this helps.

The icon indicates an item that is available for download. This is usually because it has been downloaded previously by the account you are logged in under and will not be charge again for the download. See the following article, while it references iTunes for Mac and not iOS, it is the same.

I'm not trying to minimize your issues, but I have an iPhone 5S and find that I have not had these types of problems on AT&T. I'm wonding if something has gotten stuck in a loop that is continually trying to use data. If you make a good backup of your phone, try restoring it as new, and do not add anything to the phone right away. Let the device run like this for a little while and see what kind of usage you have. You report you phone is showing usage of 21GB. Did you rese this setting on the phone to begin at your billing period? The reason I ask this is some people believe this setting resets on its own with your billing period, it does not. This has to be manually reset by the user, so it might not be that accurate depending on the last time that you reset it.
If the phone seems to not use so much extra data during the period the device does not have extra apps on it, then try restoring from your backup and see what happens. If this increases your data usage quite fast again, then there is probably something corrupt in the backup that is causing this issue. -

I have recently upgraded to ios 7 on my iphone. I am currently at 7.0.2 which i installed yesterday. Now i notice that the keypad doesnt appear in any function under Phone. Keypad doesnt show up in contact search, or while adding new contacts or editing the existing. This is irritting.

I have an iPhone 4s in the UK with EE, I recently upgraded to iOS 8 and lost the ability to access cellular data.
I've upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 with no improvement.
I've reset network settings on both versions with no positive result.
I can't rollback to iOS 7 as apple has stopped signing the build.
I realise the 4s is fairly old tech but this experience has been quite time consuming and incredibly frustrating as I still haven't managed to resolve the issue. I had been holding back to upgrade to the new generation of iPhone but this experience and the negative press has made me seriously consider other options.Here is what you can try,
Hold both the power and home buttons until the device powers off, may take 10sec. Let go of both as soon as screen goes black.
Open itunes on your computer and plug in your cable to the computer but NOT the phone.
Once itunes is open hold down the home button on phone and plug in cable and continue holding home button until you see the connect to iTunes logo on screen. iTunes will give a msg that a device has been detected in recovery mode. Now select restore and do not disconnect until you see your device in iTunes again. -

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
