I am unable to open my Office files after installing OS Mavericks 10.9.5. Any thoughts or solutions?

If it's Office 2004 or older, it will not run under Lion or later. You would have to upgrade Office to either the 2008, or 2011 version. If it's not critical you specifically use Office, you could switch to one of the free open source alternatives, such as Neo Office.

Office 2008 and 2011 are compatible with OS X Mavericks.
If you are using Office 2008, I highly recommend you to reinstall the latest Office 2008 update > http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36897 Note that Office 2008 is not supported by Microsoft anymore

Thanks. Your suggestion is good but it does not allow me to scan multiple page documents and get a unique pdf file (I get as many files as there are pages in the document). With the HP scan software it was possible to do it but this software does not work any longer with Maveriks. I do hope that this problem will be solved as soon as possible.

As it sounds like you know what you're doing, you know the way that iTunes works. However, because you have not archived/exported (please correct me if you have) your library. There should only be a slight difference between the two.

In many, many apps Apple has now created a confusing array of "save as..", "export", and "duplicate" all doing essentially the same thing - saving a new copy elsewhere possibly with format changes. Drives me nuts.

The school just upgraded these MacBooks to OSX Mavericks and when i try to open Minecraft it won't let me. It says no jdk installed. I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Can any one help with my problems. P.S. I don't know the administrator password or stuff like that. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, relaunch Safari.
If it's not Extensions, check for third party Safari add ons.

Assuming you have finished with your old backup.....
You can see what your iCloud storage is used for and delete any unwanted content at settings > iCloud > backup & storage > manage......

The icon indicates an item that is available for download. This is usually because it has been downloaded previously by the account you are logged in under and will not be charge again for the download. See the following article, while it references iTunes for Mac and not iOS, it is the same.
