I refuse to let my music disappear off my iPod again..

i'm desperate.
i followed the instructions off another post to try and recover my "hidden" files on my ipod.
it included entering commands into the terminal. then supposedly my music was supposed to appear in a folder on my desktop called "iPod Music".
this didn't happen.
if you're lost as to what i'm talking about, you can look at the forums for my previous post a few minutes ago.

Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

thanks for the reply. guess i'll have to do that. apple, not really happy with what you've done with this latest update. have not been able to enjoy my music in my car since the update. most of us dont mind changes that progress timely, but this was much more than just a progression. this was a complete change. and not a good one, at all. thanks to the two people that replied. appreciate it.

Songs disappear off my iPod!

I purchased songs on my i-pod touch and I transferred them into I-tunes, but they have disappeared off my iPod touch and are only in I-tunes. ALSO they do not play in I-tunes, they are in faded font and they don't play or transfer onto my iPod when I sync it! Please help me!

Getting my music back off my ipod

Hi,
I had my entire music collection on an external hard drive which then failed and I lost everything - gutted.
I have a lot of my music on my ipod but I have since changed computers and it won't let me copy it over to my new one.
How can I get my music onto my computer? I would be able to use the old computer but its been reformatted if that makes any difference.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Hopefully I can at least get some of my music back.

Music disappearing off itunes library

I keep having to re load my music from my computer back into itunes library as everytime I shut down all the songs disappear. Songs are then importing back in as duplicates.
Any ideas how to stop this happening as it means I lose all my playlists?

On my PC this is how I fixed it....
When I went to the location of my Library file I noticed that the main library file was very small. Just a few KB in size. There was also another file named "I Tunes Library" and I noticed that this file was large. This file was an XML file though and opened in safari not Itunes when i clicked on it.
I did some research here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
and found that there are two types of library files...
Then I just went to files/import playlist and selected the XML file.
It restored all of my songs, podcasts and graphics but I needed to re sync my ipod which was a pain...
In my case i think this was caused by the fact that my music folder is located on an external hard drive. I had changed a couple of the usb plugs around and when i turned on my computer the letter name (like C: D:... etc...) of my external drive had changed... I don't know if thats what always happens... but I think it's what happened to me.
My music folder was probably temporarily set back to the default or something causing Itunes to think it was a fresh install (or something)... Anyway.. let me know if this helps...

It literally disappeared before my eyes on my phone. It won'tsync movies, it won't sync my music library. Is there anyone in this world that can help this poor lost and crazed soul?

i JUST broke down and did the iOS7 update (because I heard crap about it but some newer apps won't work without it so I updated) now it is happenning just after the update

I turned my ipod on today and music that was on it last night has now disappeared. These are from cd's that we had copied onto the computer and then deleted once we loaded them into itunes and onto the ipod. I didnt do anything different when i plugged it in to charge. HElp please!!!

It would appear that the iPod hard drive has become corrupt and unreadable. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes, but if they are no longer there, then you are seemingly stuck with importing the CDs again.

How do i delete Music/Photos off my iPod

I bought my iPod today, and my friend just put all his music on it, but there are alot of stuff i don't want on there, and I can't seem to get rid of them...same with photos, i had stuff in My Pictures but i didn't want them to go onto my iPod, do i have to deletre the songs/photos from my computer to delete them from the iPod? because my friend said just to uncheck the little checkbox next to the song names, and i tried that and it didn't work... Please help.

i have the 30 gb 5.5 gen ipod, i was changin some tv shows over from the movie category and accidentally changed a couple to music videos. how do i view the music videos in itunes under my ipod there is no playlist for music videos so i cant access those vids to delete them is there some other way to delete music videos?

Transferign 'Music' folder back onto iPod

Hello,
I have an 30GB Video iPod and I needed to restore it due to some technical problems. I took the Music folder off my iPod and put it onto my computer. After I restored my iPod, I pasted it back into the right folder of my iPod but now nothing shows up on my ipod.
Does anybody know how I can put the folder back into my iPod and have my music show up?

How did you get the music off of your ipod? I'm needing to send mine in for a new battery but I know I will get it back and all of the music will be gone, so I'm trying to find a way to back it up before I send it in. Itunes will only let me back up my library, and thats not what I need. Thank you.

New computer, old computer crashed, I cannot see my music folder on my ipod

My old computer crashed, so I could not deauthorize it with itunes. I read instructions about moving my music folder off my ipod to my C drive on the new computer's music folder, but I cannot see any music folder when I go to "My Computer" and look at my ipod. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure that these directions are useless because all of the music on your iPod is protected. In order to copy it to your computer, you will need software that does it for you. You cannot just drag it all in.
I see that you are using Windows Vista... I'm not sure whether that will change whether you can copy your music or if it will change my directions on how to show the music folder.
