I reinstalled my iphoto and it keeps loading

ok so I reinstalled my iphoto and now when I open it it just shows a loading icon. Its as if something is loading but nothing happens. Where are my photos and why does it keep loading??

In your Pictures folder is a icon called iPhoto Library, you can right click on this icon and "show package contents" inside is a folder called Originals.
You can use the Finder to Duplicate this folder and then move the OrigianalsCopy out of the folder and onto your Desktop, then to another external drive and diconnect, along with other personal files as you might be having a bigger problem (like a dying hard drive) . You now have your photo's.

If you reinstalled iPhoto, it's a older version most likely than the one your iPhoto Library uses, so use the Software Update under the Apple menu to get it current.
Next you may want to try restting your iPhoto

Next you might be having some sort of issue, perhaps a corrupt iPhoto preference file, see the #12 and #13 OnyX steps and other Steps here to try to locate your issue.

Since the new library gives you the same message log into another user account on your Mac and see if you can run iPhoto without getting that message. If you get that message there also a reinstall of iPhoto seems indicated. To do so you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

Close the windows and quit the applications from the menubar before shutting down the computer.
System Preferences > Users & Groups > Your account > Login items.
Click the lock, authenticate and remove those applications from Login items.

How to reinstall Garageband, iPhoto and iMovie

Three weeks ago, while I was surfing the net, the Macbook I was using suddenly displayed a message asking me to turn off and restart. I turned it off but it could not get restarted beyond the "sign on" screen. I tried to reinstall the OSx by using the CD that came along with the Macbook, but it could not work either. So I brought the Macbook to an authorised Apple Store, the technician on duty tried to do the installation as well but to no avail. I was told to leave the set there and to collect it 4 days later. True enough, I got my set back after the third day, I was told that since I upgraded the OSx from Snow Leopard to Lion, I could no longer use the CDs for reinstallation. The store also warned me that for this round, the reinstallation was free but for similar future installation, I would have to pay for service charge (by the way, my set is still under warranty).
The store also told me that I could reinstall Lion on-line but then I found these applications iPhoto, iMovie and GrarageBand missing after the reinstallation. Again the technician on duty reinstalled Lion several times but could not get these applications back. With no other help available, I took the set home and tried reinstallation several more times and tried downloading these applications without success. Finally, I went on-line to Apple Store to do a download, for iPhoto and iMovie I was billed but for GarageBand it was also downloaded but could not work, each time I click the icon, an error message "the instrument library is invalid" appear. Can anyone please help.

All you need to do to get these applications back is to insert disc 2 that originally came with your mac. I know this for sure because I just did a fresh install of Lion and the applications were missing as well, so I inserted disc 2 that came with my mac and reinstalled them (my mac originally came with Snow Leopard). It has those applications on it as well as the Apple Hardware Test. The people who you talked to have no idea what they are talking about.

OS 10.6.7 imac Itunes library can't be seen by imovie, iphoto or idvd though all can see iphotos. Apple tech had me reinstall imovie, iphoto and get the updates again and itunes library still not seen by rest of ilife '11 suite.

I have tried everything I saw in the forums but can't make iLife '11 apps see itunes library. Apple had me delete existing files for iphoto and imovie including the apps themselves and reinstall from the disks that came with my imac last month. This did not work. I have the exact same issue. Apple also directed me to do the same tasks... didn't correct the issue. We can not be the only ones with this issue.I can't add music from iTunes to any slideshows, iDVD's or anything. I have rebuilt my itunes Library as directed by Apple... no progress.

I try to print a thumbnail from within iPhoto and it keeps telling me I don't have any themes installed. When I look in iPhoto folder the themes folder is there. Themes are in app. Support also. I rebuilt iPhoto database and rebooted but no cure. DICKSTER

Try to print from within iPhoto a thumbnail & I get message that there are no themes installed. They are in iPhoto folder and a folder of themes is in the library/ application support. I rebuilt iPhoto data base using iPhoto rebuild. No change, also rebooted hd.
Can someone straighten me out here?

Restoring iPhoto 9 (11) Themes
First look in your HD/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one there move it to the Trash. Also look in your Home/Library/Application Support/iPhoto folder for a Themes folder. If there is one move it to the Trash. Reinstall iPhoto as described below:
1 - delete the current application.
2 -files with "iPhoto" in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder,

3 - mount the disk that iPhoto 11 came on, either an iLife 11 disc or the system disk that came with your computer and do a custom install selecting only iPhoto.
If iPhoto 11 came with the computer then double click on the "Install Bundled Software Only" file and do a custom install.
Apply all of the latest iPhoto 9 (11) updates followed by a repair of disk permissions with Disk Utility. Also make sure you're running the latest Quicktime version.

I have an older MacBook Pro and my iPhoto and iMovie keep "quitting unexpectedly". How do I fix this?

I reinstalled Indesign CS6 on my reformatted computer. At first it asked me to register the product. I said Not now because it is already registered.
It wouldn't allow me to use it and just closed.

Reinstalled OSX, iPhoto (and all iLife for that matter) wont open..

It acts like it is deleted from my computer? is their a download link to iLife?
(this computer is a 2.0 GHz Aluminum iMac, not the one in my sig)

If you reinstalled from a retail disk, iLife apps are not included. They may be on another disk that came with your computer (a gray disk) but if you are using a retail 10.5 disk, you will need to purchase iLife....
