I removed my battery in an attempt to insert a SIM card, obviously without knowing how to insert the SIM card. I put the battery back into place and it was already charged 100%, but it's stuck in recovery mode. I've already restored it, but it won't boot.
I was trying to insert a SIM card into my iPhone 4 without actually knowing how to do so. I assumed that I was to remove the back of the phone and find a slot for it near the battery. I removed the battery in an attempt to find a SIM slot, and was obviously unsuccessful. I put the battery back into place and screwed the phone back plate back on. Note: the battery was fully charged and the iPhone was working perfectly fine before. After screwing the iPhone back into place properly, I thought, I attempted to cut the phone on and it would not do so. I put it back on the charger, and the screen came up that says "Connect to iTunes". I obviously couldn't do so if its plugged into the wall. I plugged into the computer, connected it to iTunes, went through the Recovery mode process, and it still won't turn on. The computer says that the iPhone is in Recovery mode, but iTunes can't do anything because it has already been restored. When I disconnect it from the computer, I hold all buttons in all possible combinations, but it won't turn on at all. When I plug it into the wall, it again says to connect to iTunes. I don't know if I damaged the battery or any part within the iPhone, but I was sensitive in my approach to removing the battery and putting it back in, and there is no visible damage whatsoever. I am extremely frustrated and in desperate need of Apple-Pro help.
do you have a cdma iphone 4? becauase cdma iphones dont have a sim card slot... the providers that use cdma technology here in the us would be verizion, sprint, criket, ect... if you want to use your iphone 4 on att or tmobile (gsm carriers). then you would need a gsm iphone 4 (has sim card slot). a gsm iphone 4 is different than a cdma iphone 4 (they have different radio chips). maby you missed the sim card slot? sim card slot would be on the side of the phone.. never inside (unless it has a removable back cover like the galaxy s3 or s4), if you dont see a sim card slot on the side of the phone than you have a cmda iphone 4. can you tell me what carrier you are trying to use?

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

I just tried to update my iphone 4 to the 5.01. It said that my phone backed up and started update. i went on a run and came back and my phone is now stuck in recovery mode. So after trying to update my phone to ios7, it got stuck in recovery mode. I tried plugging it into my computer and itunes, and itunes recognizes that an iphone is plugged in. TThen when I click "restore my iphone", it says on itunes that it is in the process of restoring my iphone. An apple with a loading bar would pop up on my phone and then the loading bar would fill up, and then I would get an error message on my computer saying "Could not restore iphone, Error 2117" or something along those lines. I didn't have the new itunes, so I brought my itunes up to date. Now that I have the new itunes, I tried restoring the phone again. This time, when I plug in the phone, the computer recognizes it and says that its restoring my phone, but the my iphone was still stuck on the screen for recovery mode (white usb pointing at the itunes logo). Does anyone know how I could restore my phone? :/

I've been researching all night and even thought about downloading several different things that were suppose to get my phone out of "Recovery" mode. Then I thought about taking my phone to the Apple store after work tomorrow. I then found this blog and read coltonkj's entry and tada! I took a big breath and hit "restore". It worked, it put me back to the page where you can select to restore the last back-up. Shooooo!!!!

My iPad is stuck in recovery mode. It was suggested before that I upgrade my computer, so I downloaded Snow Leopard and have tried resetting it, but it still isn't working. What can I try next?
FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.

I tried to update my iPod touch, but now its stuck in recovery mode.
Okay so I plugged my iPod into my computer today and it said there was a new update available. I clicked update, but after it finished syncing/updating it went into recovery mode. It says I need to restore the iPod, but everytime I restore it, it just goes back into recovery mode. Iv'e tried shutting it off but it doesn't help

HT201442 iTouch stuck in recovery mode. Will not restore!
My daughter got an iTouch for her birthday in October. She attempted to update it yesterday and it went into recovery mode. Now it is stuck with the iTunes logo and usb on the screen. I tried updating iTunes and restoring and got error message 3194. I unplugged and closed iTunes and started over and now iTunes shows a serial # of n/a as though it isn't even reading the device. What is going on with this? As I said it is less than 2 months old. I have had a 4G for over 3 years and have never had one problem with it. Please help!

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have tried every trouble shooting step there is. restarting my computer amd restarting my device. Ipod Touch 2G 2.2.1 stuck in recovery mode - no access to restore file
Hello, I am currectly travelling and I won't have my computer for another 7 months.
I have an ipod Touch 2G with OS 2.2.1. I was using the Facebook app when it froze and stayed like that for a while. I decided to reset the ipod by pressing the PWR button and the home button. Once I did that I turn the ipod back on and the Apple logo came on but it was stuck. So I restarted it again. I decided to go to a cyber cafe to plug it in to see if it would fix the problem. When I plugged it in, I go the "plug it in into iTunes" or Recovery mode logo. Now iTunes asks me to restore my ipod.
Is there a way to cancel the Recovery mode? I really don't want to loose everything for the next 7 months of my trip.
I have tried to reset the ipod many times but I got the same results.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
GadiI had this same problem - tried the restore process about a dozen times with no positive results. Finally took the IPT to local Apple store where genius connected it to their system and it restored perfectly (as if I didn't know THAT was going to happen). What he told me next bothered me - that I would probably have to reload the IPT from scratch - but when I got home and connected the iPod to my iMac via USB, iTunes downloaded the most recent backup (which it had taken just before the restore had started) and returned everything to where it had been with one notable exception. I had just downloaded one song from the iTunes Music Store to the IPT before this whole episode got started, and it hadn't yet synched up to the iTunes music library on the iMac. The song was a loss - small price to pay for not having to try to replace a lot of other stuff that was on the IPT before. Hope you have an Apple store nearby. Sorry this isn't better news, but I went through all the other IPT troubleshooting stuff as well and nothing cleared the problem, so I didn't feel I had any other out except taking it in for "repair."

IPhone 4 stuck on Recovery Mode. Can't Restore :(
So I was trying to downgrade my iPhone's iOS from 4.3.5 to 4.2.1 so it successfully worked with RedSn0w.
Then when i rebooted my iPhone the iTunes Cable Screen Showed even if i remove the cable from my PC, when Iopen my iPhone, the iTunes Cable would still show up.
Then when i plugged it into my PC the details came out of my iTunes shows:
It says it's on Recovery Mode but i Tried RecBoot to exit the Recovery mode but it keeps on coming back. Now I can't restore, an error occurs if I restore. HEEELPPP me kill the recovery mo! i don't wanna go to an Apple Store as far as I can...I forgot to say that I did edit the hosts file and removed all lines containing apple.com and yet I still get the same 3194 error.
