I rented a movie from my Apple TV account and it is nowhere to be found

I was logged into my iTunes account on my Apple TV so I could bypass the technical difficulties of AirPlay or authorizing computers to play a movie. Now it's nowhere to be found. It looks like this is a reoccurring issue with apple. I already checked for available rentals, and I also tried pressing the play button while on the Rent option. No luck. When I try to click rent again for the movie, it warns me that I have already rented it. Where is it

Welcome to the Apple Community and Seasons Greetings.
Have you checked in the movies section on the main page.

How do I verify my "payment information" to rent a movie on my Apple TV for the first time.

Movies are not bought via Netflix, then are rented or borrowed.

  • Rented a movie from iTunes, playback has stopped and no longer works.

Today I rented and downloaded a movie from the iTunes store. Got about 5 minutes into it and the playback froze.... I tried to fast forward... Nothing. Tried to rewind. Nothing. So I closed iTunes completely and reopened. Now when I try to play the rental, I just get a black screen. I don't want to waste $4.

Because its takin to much space in my iPod >_<

Transfer all of your content to the computer:
Tunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:

If the item is still there, you may need to restore the device:

Hope that helps . Worst case scenario, you may need to write into iTunes support to see if they can also help!!

  • Is there a way to rent a movie from iTunes to my Ipad and then view it on my TV ?

I've rented them for my iPad before, but can I view a movie on my HDTV?
    Thanks very much

    Yes.
Wirelessly with Airplay and with an Apple TV 2 connected to your HDTV with the Apple TV connected to the same wireless network as your iPad.

  • I rented a movie from itunes on my computer and it stopped playing. won't restart.

I was in the middle of watching a movie I rented and it just stopped. I cannot get it to play again. the play button no longer works??

    You device has limited capacity.
If you have toooooooo many movies, that occupy toooooo much space, you will not be able to add any movies oor music without deleting something else.

  • I rented 5 movies from iTunes. 3 worked, and 2 do not.  What gives?

I haven't made any changes to this device. I've tried resetting the device settings and restarting the iPad. No dice. It just gives me this error: "This movie could not be played."
I had to spend a cross country flight and a long bus ride without entertainment (god forbid!)
    Help would be amazing.

Lion creates local snapshots on the hard drive. Sort of a mini Time Machine, but not really. They are essentially temporary snapshots that the OS will delete when it needs more space for just about any other reason.

  • I have rented a movie from apple tv but cant watche it,it says go to itunes store and check for rentals, but its just lowding

just rented a movie from my apple tv, accidently got out, and cant play it back, it says that go to itunes store and check for rentals, but it just show lowding and lowding                              please some one help, how can i play it back????????????????

    Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • I rented a movie from iTunes and now it's not working

I rented a movie from iTunes on my iPad and it started downloading.  For some reason it stopped.  The movie is showing up in the video app but when I hit play or the download cloud it tells me I have rented the movie but have not downloaded it.  I go back to iTunes and the download section is gone.  I go back to the movie, where you can buy or rent, and it says watch....which if clicked on takes me back to videos.  And then it again tells me I have rented the movie but have not downloaded it and to go to Downloads to manage my downloads.  THERE IS NO DOWNLOAD SECTION OR OPTION IN ITUNES....IT IS GONE!!  I have closed iTunes and restarted my iPad several times and am still having the same issue.  I have rented movies in the past with no issues.  I have NO IDEA what is going on and am very very frustrated.  Hopefully someone can help.
    Thanks!!

I would ask iTunes Store support for help with this. You may never be able to get the movie to download on your own now.
Go here and then tap on Connecting and downloading, then tap on Movie Rentals. You can have someone contact you, you can chat online or you can get email support. I would opt for the phone call or online chat.

  • HT1933 Why is it that I rented a movie from iTunes on my computer but it is not showing in my Apple TV to view

Why is it that I rented a movie from iTunes on my computer but it is not showing in my Apple TV to view

    Hello Amy,
You can but the method varies depending on the Apple TV that you have.
From the article How to rent a movie from the iTunes Store on your computer found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1390:
To rent movies from the iTunes Store on your computer
In iTunes on your computer, click iTunes Store.
In the iTunes Store, find a movie you want to rent.
Click Rent. Your rental should begin to download immediately.
Once the rental is downloaded, you can watch it on your computer or transfer the rental to a supported iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV (1st generation):
Connect the device and select it in iTunes.
    Click the Movies button.
Select the movie, and then click Move.
After all movies have been moved, click Apply in the lower-right corner of iTunes.
You must be connected to the Internet to transfer a rented movie.
If you have Apple TV 2nd gen. or later you can use Airplay to play it on your tv through the Apple TV.
Here is the article to help get that setup and going.
    Using AirPlay

  • HT200109 Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?

Why do all my other Apple devices not care if the movie I rented from iTunes if it was downloaded directly to that device or not, but the stupid Apple TV won't allow you to play rented movies unless you rented it directly from the Apple TV?
Great, so now I have to airplay it by linking my computer to my Apple TV and then the movie has to buffer! So, all that time I spent downloading the HD video has to technically "download" again by buffering. The more I use Apple TV, the more I feel like this item was not created by Apple. I don't even use it for what I originally purchased it for. If I would have known that anytime I wanted to sync a movie from my computer to Apple TV by using airplay that it would have to buffer the movie, I would have never ever ever ever ever purchased this waste of time device. So the video has to technically play all the way through one time first so Apple TV can "remember" the movie to play it back in real time afterwards.
Am I missing something here? Am I doing something wrong that can be fixing my problem? I should have known that the Apple TV had so many things backwards when simple things like when you are using the remote and you reach the bottom of your list, in order to cycle back to the top of your list you have then press the directional buton back the other way rather than most modern day devices that will automatically cycle you back to the top or to the other side when you reached the bottom or end but keep on pressing the button. That **** annoys me when I am doing a search for a movie and have to type the name in manually and have to cycle back and forth to the letters. It makes me feel like I am using a rotary phone or something!

I was told by someone to try and purchase something directly from my Apple TV and that will help authorize my Apple TV.  So I picked something that was free and it downloaded.
Then I went back to the Movie that would not work and it played just fine.
So it seemed to work.  I will have to try it on other movies and TV shows later.

  • I rented a movie from iTunes on my apple tv, can I watch this rental on another apple tv that's on the same network and under the same account?

I would like to rent a movie from iTunes on one of my apple tv's and would like to know if I can watch that movie rental on another apple tv on the same network. I used to rent movies on my Mac and was able to watch on different apple tv through home-sharing.

    Hey hskcheng,
Movies rented on an Apple TV can not be transferred to a different device. See this article for reference -

  • Rented a movie from Apple tv- itunes it buffers too many time

We just got the apple tv, did updates so there are no apple tv updates to do, I  connecting via wirelss home network, We rented a movie from Itunes, started watching the movie and 5 minutes in it started to buffer movie was frozen and spinning apple wheel continued to spin.moments later the movie started up again.  around five minutes later the movie froze again and the apple wheel started spinning once more,  during the course of the initial 15 minute movie it appeared to be buffering once more, kinda frustrating, Am I doing something wrong or am I not using the technology properly.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • HT1498 I just bought Apple TV 2 weeks ago. I have a brand new Samsung LED TV. Everything works fine.  I rented a movie from iTunes and it took 4 hours to download. My friend said this is wrong, his movies play instantly, so what's wrong?
