I rented a movie last night , watched it , then went to watch it again within the 48hr period , to find it was gone
I rented a movie at nine last night , went to watch it again at seven , to find it gone , and yet they say u have 48hrs to watch it as many times as u like ??
Welcome to the Apple Community.
if you do something else on the Apple TV after watching the movie it will need downloading again, but you should be able to do this for 48 hrs (assuming your in a location that gives you 48 hours)

Hi, I rented a movie last night. There was a power failure in my area and as a result I didn't manage to finish it. May I know how to resume watching today?
CHWei,
You may find a solution by reading: Cannot resume a movie rental using...: Apple Support Communities. -
Hi, I rented 4 movies last night which I have been charged for however seem to have disappeared from my iTunes. I have not watched any of them or opened them. Can you please tell me whats happened?
While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t have Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

I was sure i correctly rented a movie last night, it was taking a while to download, so didnt end up watching it. Now I cant find it....where do I go to find it? Thanks
Personally I would raise the problem with iTunes Store Support via:
https://expresslane.apple.com
You can also Report a Problem via the link in your Purchase Invoice e-mail or from your iTunes account Purhcase History by logging into your Account Settings in iTunes on a computer. -
Rented 2 movies last night but can't find them as downloaded to sync to my iPad. When I click on the movie again, it says "previosly rented." where can I find the link to download them?
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals. -
I rented a movie last night on my Apple TV through the iTunes Store. I received a notice asking me to enter my security code from my debit card. I did that, however I never received any confirmation regarding the movie. It charged my iTunes account, and 15 hours later, the movie is still nowhere to be found on my Apple TV. Any suggestions, or thoughts?
You aren't talking to Apple here, we are just users like yourself that try to help others out, we cant look in your account, but you can see Your Purchase History on your computer.

I rented a movie last night. It started to download right away but has never finished. Shows as still processing. What do I do now?
Have you tried contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) ? If not then try the 'report a problem' page to contact them : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption -

The movie I rented last night wasn't downloaded.
what's the problem? Is my money going to be returned if I won't be able to watch it?The movie I rented last night wasn't downloaded.
Do you get an error message when you try to download the rental? If so, what error message number are you getting? -
i rented a movie on my apple tv and i want to finish it on my computer but can't seem to find the rented section in itunes?
Sorry, but you cannot watch it on your computer. Movies rented on an Apple TV cannot be transferred elsewhere. You'll have to finish watching it on your Apple TV.

I was able to watch other content (including HD Previews of movies we hadn't purchased) os the network connection shouldn't have been the problem. Just a spinning wheel and Rumplestiltzken turning my time into Apple's gold. Now I am on the support pages and can't find a simple selection to request a credit for the movie we won't get to watch because the 24 hour clock started when we started watching it and is now at about 10 hours with me just arriving at work. I also considered pulling it down to my MB Pro, but found out that since I started the download on my Apple TV, if I wanted the same movie on my MB, I would have to pay for it again... I am less than pleased so far with Apple TV.
Okay, so istumbler says my connection goes to yellow when I go to the Aple TV location, but my internet speed is greatly increased tonight (20Mbps on speedtest.net near the router and 15.49Mbps at the Apple TV). Upload is unchanged at a little under 1Mbps). I did manage to get the Apple Contact location and I am sure they will post a credit for the movie (since their logs will show repeated attepts to download and no joy, although we both know they won't go to the trouble to look at them). As far as I'm concerned, it was a one-time problem and until it happens again to me, I will remain convinced it was on their end of the connection or in between (although that was unlikely). I've been administering and managing netowrks for over 20 years and am pretty confident that the connection on my end was working.

The movie I rented last night could not be downloaded so tonight I am trying again. Apple TV says that I have rented the movie, but need to download it from iTunes Store. I am doing that right now, but with no results. Can you assist?
Hi memacleod!
It sounds like you may need to report an issue with the rental of this item:

My movies won't play, it just says "content not authorize"
Hello rockland2u,
Thanks for the question. Due to the special circumstances surrounding Movie Rentals, it may be best to contact our iTunes Store Support team about your purchase. The following article outlines how to report an issue:

I tried renting a movie last night but was unable to. Tonight I was able to rent the same movie & have been watching it but now it is frozen on my TV. I can rewind it but it continues to freeze in the same place. I cannot forward it at all. Thank you in advance for any help.
I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. Please follow & send me a Direct Message, so I can get your account specifics and help finally bring this to a resolution.
Thank you,

Hi, at the moment I can only seem to watch a rented movie once - previously I used to be able to watch it as many times as I liked during the 48hr window. Anyone else have this problem?
This doesn't seem right.
I paid for a rental and downloaded an HD movie, Avatar. I could start watching within about a minute, it played without skipping a beat.
My wife started watching the movie the next night and got about half way through.
The next day, she tried watching the rest, and selected the film and clicked on "resume watching".
But instead of streaming and playing like it should, we got the spinning wheel of death followed by a message "Ready to play in 1 minute" which soon became "Ready to play in 2351 minutes"!
Additional information that I can add is that it was Sunday afternoon which is peak time for internet usage and I'd just exhausted my data allowance before the speed limiting kicks in. Basic internet using browsers at that time was really slow.
So it was as though the movie we were going to resume watching was going to be downloaded from the iTunes Store again, and since my connection had been speed limited, it was going to take forever. I thought you downloaded a rental to your hard drive and it deleted itself after it expired? So any subsequent streaming to AppleTV would be coming direct from your hard drive. It shouldn't have been affected by the speed of my internet connection at that time, surely. Anyone else experienced this?
Actually, I just noticed this post, I'm sure it's related...:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12398832
