I rented a movie on my ipad and cannot locate it?

I rented a movie on my ipad and it just shows up as a gray box in my movies section. When I click on the greyed out box, it gives me the option to play the movie but when I press play, it just reverts back to the gray box. How do I find the move or have it complete the download?

    1. Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar at bottom
    2. Hold the Videos app down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close app
    4. Re-launch the app and test
Note: If necessary close all apps in the Task Bar

  • I rented a movie on my iPad but cannot move it to my computer to watch on tv via Apple tv. How do I transfer the rented movie to my computer?

I rented a movie on my iPad but cannot move it to my computer to watch on tv via Apple tv. How do I transfer the rented movie to my computer?

I just rented a movie from my iPad2 and tried to play it through my ATV2 with AirPlay and same problem.... This is absurd guys. Apple I know there are copyright hoops to jump through but come on!! The whole pitch behind AirPlay and AppleTV was to make it easy to watch my purchases on my TV no matter what device they were on. Now I've got to hold my iPad in front of my face to watch a movie for nearly 3 hours!! And when I go to the support site I have no option other than to send an email to billing, screw this. I've not bought a DVD since I purchased my ATV2 over a year ago but if you guys are gonna pull this crap then what incentive do I have to continue the use of something that may or may not work the way it was advertised.
By the way, this is the first time I've had this problem because I normally rent straight off the ATV or my computer, which by the way I was considering replacing my PC with an iPad but looks like you guys aren't ready for me to make that kind of a switch.
Don't tell us that a product will do XY and Z then put limits on Y sending to Z.

  • I just rented a movie on my ipad, and now want to watch it on my Apple Tv

I just rented a movie on my iPad (which does not have sufficient space to download the movie) with hopes of being able to watch it on my Apple Tv when I got home. However, when i got home, the Apple TV is says that i need to re-rent it. If i 'purchased' (rented) the movie on my iPad, shouldn't it be in my iCloud, so that I can watch it on any device?

A movie purchased on an iPad can only be viewed on an iPad. You would need to rent via computer and use home sharing or directly on Apple TV if you wish to view on your HDTV.
You haven't purchased the movie, it's a rental and thus won't be available in the cloud.
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • HT4095 Rented a movie on my iPad and it doesn't open.  Why.?

Rented a movie it downloaded fine, but I get an error message that it can't open the movie. Any idea why?

In order to download the movie, you want to just connect the ipad to the internet, preferably wifi if you have it available. Check your settings by going to settings > wifi.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

  • I rented a movie on my computer and transferred it to my ipad mini and can't find it on the mini even though it shows that it is there when I look on the computer.  It is not in my video app on the mini.  Where can I find it to watch?

I rented a movie on my computer and transferred it to my iPad mini.  I see it was purchased on my computer in my account and the charges for it and can even see where it is on my iPad on the computer but can't find it on the iPad itself.  It is not in Videos.  I have this problem every time I rent movies and somehow I eventually find it but I don't know how it eventually gets on the iPad.  I'm leaving on a trip and want to watch it on the way.

You move the movie from iTunes to iPad (tap to enlarge image)
Movie will be moved to the Videos app.

  • I rented a movie on an iPad mini while connected to wifi. Now I'm in the car with out Internet and when I try to play the movie is says "could not load movie" what can I do? I purchased it from iTunes and let it load fully before leaving.

Can somebody help me figure this out? So before a road trip I rented a movie on my Ipad mini. The movie fully loaded before I left. It downloaded under wifi. Now that I'm in the car I tried to watch the movie but it isn't working. When I press play an error message pops up saying "could not load movie" can I not watch it with our wifi? What's going on? What can I do to watch the movie?

Having the same problem. Watched 25 minutes of a rental and it stopped with the message"unable to load video"
    Using current version IPad mini.

If you moved them to your iPad then they will have been removed from your Mac.  If they are no longer in the iPad's Videos app following the update then you will need to try contacting iTunes support and see if they will let you re-download them : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Rented a movie on my iPad have not watched it and it's disappeared?

Rented a movie on my iPad - have not watched it nd it's disappeared?

After you have rented and downloaded a movie to your iPad you have 30 days to watch it. But after you begin watching it you have 24 hours and then it expires and disappears. You say that you did not watch it, but if you started the movie even for just a few seconds after the movie downloaded, you started the 24 hour clock.

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:

Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • I rented a movie on my MAC and wanted to see how I can watch it on my iPad?

I rented a movie on my MAC and wanted to see how I can watch it on my iPad? It currently doesn't show up on the videos app.

    Howdy Twetz8,
To view the movie you rented with your Mac on your iPad you would sync it from the Mac to the iPad.
About renting movies from the iTunes Store - Apple Support
If you rented the movie on your computer, but want to watch it on an iOS device, connect the devices and sync using USB. When you move a rented movie from your computer, it will disappear from your computer’s iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as often as you want, but you can only have it on one device at a time.
If you rented the movie on your iOS device or Apple TV, you can’t move it to any other device.
To watch an HD movie, you need to play it on a supported device: your computer, iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or TV using Apple TV.
    Enjoy,
    Nubz

  • Can i get my rented movies off my ipad and put them on my PC, as i do not have posession of my ipad and i wont for awhile, also can i change the password remotely for my ipad to avoid intrusions?

can i get my rented movies off my ipad and onto my PC without my ipad in my possession? also can i change my password to access my ipad remotely to stop the intrusions?

Where did the movies come from?
For what you said you should be easily be able to do what you want except for:
"remove them from the ipad but still have access to them for viewing on the road or at hotel"
Home sharing only works wehn the devices are connected to the same network
    Understanding Home Sharing
If they are iTunes purchases, you should be able to redownload most iTunes purchases on the road if you have an internet connection by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
