I rented a movie on my macbook pro I use to be able to watch them on my apple tv , For some reason i can't find my rentals on my apple Tv anymore after updating my apple TV ?? How can i watch my rentals that i purchased on my MacBook Pro on My AppleTV 2 ?
i restarted it 5 times and turned the homesharing on and off a couple of times ,, i can see my purchased movies and purchased songs and TV shows ,, the only thing i cant find is my rentals ,, i went to general and checked the Check for rentals Button ,,, it says no rentals ,,,

I will be flying tomorrow and was wondering if I can watch a rented iTunes movie on my MacBook Pro on the airplane. I have read if it is set in airplane mode that I can, but I want to be sure and was also wondering, if I can, do I have to watch it through a special app besides itunes. I used a gift certificate to rent a movie on my macbook pro. I tried watching it on my 3rd generation AppleTV and can't. Am I doing something wrong, or has Apple turned into the Man? Please tell me the former, or I will lose all faith in humanity.

Went through this step-by-step, but alas it did not solve the problem. For some reason I can download mail on my Macbook Pro and iPhone, but no my iMac. Connection Doctor shows all green lights. This started today when I was prompted to re-enter incoming mail server passwords. I re-entered passowrds yet again to make sure they were correct. Rebuilt the inBox. Connection Doctor continues to show all green lights, but am still unable to download mail to the inbox. Has anyone else ever run into this problem?
I have the exact same problem trying to use the Remote app on both my iPhone 3gs and iPad 2 with either my Mac or ATV2. My Remote app used to work on my phone - I can't recall if I ever actually used it with my iPad, but when I tried today, I got all the same results as you did (on both iPad, and then iPhone). I was using my ATV2 to play music from iTunes on my Mac and wanted to use the Remote app, but it would not connect to either device no matter what I did.

I'm having the same issue. Different programs though, it's mostly browsers and adobe products. I thought maybe it was heat related but it's not. It seems that as soon as Lion was about to be released, the updates were updating in preparation for Lion. I delayed updating the software updates because Adobe (my career) isn't totally compatible with Lion yet. Before I even started getting update notifications, though, within the recent week, it's freezing up constantly. I don't know what to do. It seems to be happening with my brower choice, I'm using Firefox and Chrome as my main browsers. I keep alot of sessions open but that shouldn't cause (and has never caused) this constant freezing issue. I did install some extensions in Chrome and Firefox, maybe that's the problem... The issues began after those were installed though, 3 weeks to a month later... Maybe the software updates (that I installed thinking it would correct the freezing issue), maybe they are preventing other browsers ? Maybe Apple is getting rid of Chrome and Firefox ? I'm not having issues with Safari (yet) though I just opened it for the first time in 2 months... only because the macbook is freezing (and it's also rebooting while asleep, closing all of my projects and not saving them)...
My Macbook Pro is the same year and the HDD is a year new. The manufacture recall had the video whatever replaced a few months ago.
I've never had these kinds of problems with an Apple computer. I'm using Snow Leopard and I'm very attached to this laptop ! It's configured perfectly.
Why oh why does it freeze constantly within the recent 1-2 weeks ?

Hi, imessages won't send from my macbook pro. I am still able to recieve them on mac. I am also able to send and receive on iphone. However on mac every time i press send (enter/return) it disappears, with no red '!' or anything. Any help?
Triple check the Outgoing Mail server info that you entered in your Mail account. If that area says the info is optional enter the outgoing mail server and your password anyway. Also if you have more than one email account check the server that is selected for the GoDaddy account and make sure it's the correct server for the account.

I have a Macbook, an iPad 2, and an iPhone 4. I also have iCloud on all three devices. For some reason I can not get new information from my contacts folder to transfer to the iPad or the iPhone. Never been a problem before.

Imap: google, hotmail, and more including icloud.
If you want to use multiple devices - move to imap, I would even say "exchange", but Google does not support free exchange anymore, since January of that year. So Ironically Icloud or Hotmail would be my choices right now.

I just bought a macbook book pro. I was told by several people that it should have come with iMovie. I can't find it anywhere and it does not come up when I search for it. Someone else said that if it is not already on my computer I can download it for free? Please help! I would like to use it to burn some of my videos onto dvd.
Yes, your MBP should definitely have come with iMovie. If it doesn't have it, contact Apple directly and ask them what to do.

For some reason I can no longer watch one of my previously purchased movies
I have purchased an episode of Lost and it works fine. I have purchased a copy of Brother Bear 2 and it used to work fine. But now for some reason it says that this computer is not authorized and that I have to log in to authorize it's use. When I log in, it says that login authorization was successful. Yet when I try to play the movie I get the error stating that I need to log in to authorize it's use.
I downloaded and installed the latest version of QuickTime and iTunes and I still seem to have the same problem.

Why wouldn't I get a error message concerning the system being overloaded instead of leading me to the wrong direction? How do I rent a movie on my Macbook Pro that I have already rented on my Apple TV?

I rented a movie from the Itunes Store using Apple TV, and it's there on the TV - I have 60 days to watch it, ot 24 hours from the time I start to watch it - no problem there. But I have decided I want to watch it on my Mcbook Pro instead, at my cottage where I don't have access to the Apple TV. When I click on it on my Macbook using the Itunes store, it asks me if I want to rent or buy it - so it looks like I have to pay for it over again. Is there a way to d/l this already paid for movie for free on the other device? Or can I somehow transfer it from the Apple TV to the Macbook before watching it?

RichardIf you rented it directly on the Apple TV then you can't transfer it off and you have it watch it on that - from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1415 :
You can move the rental between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period. However, the movie can only be played on one device at a time. If you rent a movie on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, it is not transferable to any other device and you must watch it on that device. -

Can't stream movies on Netflix.
I have the same problem and I tried installing and unistalling Silverlight from my system but did not work. I had a chat with someone on Netflix and he told me that this is a Silverlight problem an Mac and the browser who use it, he refer me to use Google Chrome instead because don't need Silverlight and it worked. Now for Netflix on my Macbook I'll use Chrome.

I jus got a MacBook pro and Im having trouble connecting to my schools network. It is not secured and only requires to login with school id. A Window pops up to sign in but it never loads anyone know why I'm having this problem? Doesn't have a problem connecting to any other wifi

Nonsense, no problems logging in at sites that you mention. I use OpenDNS servers. For the OP try:
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS. In the left side column click on the + sign and insert the following:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then click OK, then click Apply. -
I rent a movie. I watch 1 hour of it. I go to watch something els efor 5 moinutes. I can not get back to my rental.
I go to check for rentals under settings it loads for ever. Argh! How do I access my rentals during the 24 I have to watch!!! So annonying.I had the same problem and solved it by signing out of iTunes and iCloud, rebooting the Apple TV and then signing back in again.

Your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? There is no iCloud on 10.6.8 - if you had upgraded to Lion, but then reformatted and used the disks which came with your Mac you would have installed an older system, presumably 10.6.8? You will need to go through the upgrade process again to get Lion, so that you can access iCloud.
As to the apps, those which were not part of the installed system (such as Mail, Safari, etc.) will have to be reinstalled either from the original installers or a backup, and your actual files will have to be restored from a backup.
