I repeatedly get a overlapping pop-ups"A USB device is currently drawing too much power. The hub to which it is connected will be deactivated"Any ideas?
This message pops up so frequently that it is impossible to get any task performed because until you press the OK on the pop-up you can't continue. I have removed each USB to see if I could identify the culprit but no luck. There can be a few weeks when it doesn't occur - and then it's back with a vengeance. Currently I can have these pop-ups layered in twelves - and in order to proceed you have to sytematically press the OK button on each of them. It can appear even when I have logged out: when I return to the Mac there are loads of pop-ups to cancel before I can log on again. Help!
This is a mac problem, not a Firefox issue (Btw, update your Firefox). So we can't help you. I would suggest however either taking your mac to a local repair shop, or testing each of the USB devices you have plugged in on a different computer to see if one is malfunctioning.

I recently got both an iphone 5 and a macbook air. im trying to take the songs off my old phone (iphone 4s) and get them onto my mac's itunes and then be able to sync them to my new 5. every time i plug in the 4s into the mac, it says that the USB is drawing too much power and has to be shut off. what should i do to recover my songs?
Are you using a usb hub or anything like that? If so, try without. Otherwise unplug everything from your mac and reboot with your iphone 4s plugged in and nothing else.
Hope it works!

I have a new iMac 27" and just plugged in a Apple USB superdrive and get message, "Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled." I am trying to load Office mac2011 what to do?
If you just bought the iMac and the Sjuperdrive take the superdrive back and get a refund. The by any other brand external DVD drive that connects by USB and try that. Most come with a Y USB cable to allow you to connect to 2 USB ports to supply enogh power to the drive IF Needed.
Or take both back and get a refund on both, you have 14 days to return it no questions asked, and buy another iMac and some other brand external DVD drive. -

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use. One symptom of a bad Lightning cable is the message you are getting.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

i plugged in my ipod and now i get the error message: Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled" - i have a MAcBook pro and now my USB ports do not work - can anyone help me ???
Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

I cannot get the canon pixma ip90v to work with the computer.I get a message about drawing too much power from the usb.
You need to plug in the power cord that was included with the printer and then use it with USB, or use the power cord included with the printer and access it wirelessly from your iMac. I access my Canon MP560 wirelessly from my iMac, which works well.

I've been getting "one of your USB devices is drawing too much power" and my keyboard is disabled
This happens sporadically after the computer has been on for awhile. How can a keyboard or mouse draw too much power from the computor? These are the only things plugged in. Please help, I need my keyboard/mouse.
See "About This Mac" from the Apple menu in the menu bar, and there than under USB, for what's all connected to the USB controllers in your Mac. You'll be surprised, it's not only keyboard, mouse, or what else you use externally.
It also shows you what pulls how much current. Anything pulling the max current can be causing it, either due to a defect or some irregular configuration. Anyway, you should get pointers where to continue searching. -
I keep getting 'USB port is drawing too much power error'
I have an old 2010 13" MacBook Pro. Just tonight, it started giving me a 'USB port is drawing too much power' error. The only thing I had plugged in to my MacBook was my iPhone cable (without the phone) and an Intuos tablet I recently bought. At first I thought it was the tablet, because the tablet started acting wonky after that error message (it worked just fine earlier in the day).
After restarting, the tablet works with no problem so I thought the problem must be the iPhone cable. The thing is, I read in some other forum that a cable not plugged to the iPhone shouldn't draw power, and they said if it does then it's a sign for a short circuit. My iPhone cable is a little bit worse for wear, to be honest.
So my question is: Is the problem my cable and if it is is it dangerous if I use this cable to charge my phone with a USB wall charger? 2nd, Is there anyway to fix this other than buying a new iPhone cable?
Thanks in advance!Thats a warning. if you continually get that warning with the iphone cable and you keep using it. You could eventually disable that USB port.

Everytime I plug in my android USB, I get a message that states the USB device is drawing too much power from my computer. The only other USB device connected to computer is my printer. Even when I disconnected the printer, I was still unable to use the android. When i use a non-android USB to say charge my phone, it will charge it, but it won't recognize any of my android data. What gives?
I'm going to guess that you are plugging into either the USB port on your keyboard or an unpowered hub. USB has two both low power and high power port specifications that determine how much electricity the port can supply to a device. The ports on back of your iMac are high power, the keyboard ports are low power. If you have an unpowered hub it has to 'share' power with all the devices you plug into so it too would have low power ports.

I need to know how to rehabilitate the hub since it gets deactivated as soon as I plug the external drive. By the way the drive contains important information
Buy a drive or drive case that is not bus powered.
Look for help in MacBook Pro forums.
Helps to include what drive and drive case you used and switched to (you didn't need a tech).
You can find good selection and assortment of reliable cases from OWC :

Not knowing what macbook whether you can use USB3, Thunderbolt and other interfaces that would be better.

COnnect it to the computer,

Is English your first language? If not, I can help get someone who can speak your language to translate this article.
Tsnovak, you seem to be on a Apple Logo Loop. This has happened with several iPod generations. Contact Apple Support here: <https://www.apple.com/support/contact/>

Why do I get usb draws too much power with GoPro Hero?
I just bought a GoPro Hero 3 Black and it works fine. First time I connected to a USB port it worked jsut fine. Later, when I tried to connect it again, I got a message that the USB port is drawing too much power. I tried a diferent port and it gave same mesage. Disconnected, tried again and it worked fine.
I'm wondering if it's a matter of the camera battery drawing too much power when charging? E.g. first time connected it was fully charged. I haven't tried it yet again with a full charge.
Any ideas?Which GoPro Hero Camera?
I use both my GoPro Hero 2 cameras with the same MacBook and have no problems.
Try charging the camera batteries before you connect to the MacBook.
I am interested to see if that works for you.
