I replaced my Firefox app with full version, chose English, but everything shows up in Japanese. Can't navigate! How to fix?
Hello,
I recently tried to update firefox to v. 31.0, but permissions issues prevented it. I found answer here and installed full version as it advised. No problem.
I chose "English" as the language, but in the browser and all subsequent windows/buttons, it is in Japanese.
Any idea how to fix this?

Try to run the Firefox installer as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator) and maybe the Firefox program also just one time. -
How do you solve error "You can't use this version of the application Install Mac OS X.app with this version of Mac OS X" when trying to go back to leopard from lion?
Local Mac shop said to hold down "c" after inserting disk to get "disk utility" to come up in order to wipe hard drive. I can't seem to get it to do this.This W7 was purchased for using Fusion, as others did - per reviews from amazon. The technician today called their contact at VMWare - Fusion not officially for use with Lion - even though I read at the VMWare support site that others have made it work. Apparently my setup doesn't work.
Do you know how to do the proceedure for bringing up the disk utility when starting the disk?
BTW, some of the windows applications I want to continue using are Incredimail, Calendarscope, Stamps.com and a few others I have used over many years. What do you use for email and calendar?
Wow, sounds like another reason to not use MS Windows.
Regarding your Disk Utility question, please elablorate I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Disk Utilty is just that...a utility, it's something most users never have to use especially on a new computer. Let me know what you're trying to do there before I give you some instructions.
As for as your Windows apps I would recommend using Mail and iCal, both come as part of OS X and are very robust tools. Don't discount the software built right into OS X it's very robust and powerful not all like the bloatware most Windows boxes ship with. Stamps.com well I'd look for another alternative. It's clear they don't support OS X which makes me a little suspicious that they're so behind the times.
Also if you have not been exposed to these links before I'd strongly recommend bookmarking them and using them. They're extermely useful!

When I first upgraded to 10.5 ical and calculator both crashed when starting and now after upgrading to 10.5.1 I get the following message - 'You cannot use the application ical.app with this version of Mac OS X'
This is only on my G4 powermac. No problem with Intel MacBook.Are you, by any chance, one of "those people" that move applications to something other than the default location?

When I upgraded, I saw the same problem - I had moved iCal (among others) outside of "applications" to something like "Applications/Business Apps"
The version in "Business Apps" was the Tiger version, and it wouldn't run. However, the Leopard version (Installed to /Applications) worked fine.
So, I deleted the "Tiger" version, moved the iCal to where I wanted it, and all was well.
In a similar note, I put a number of iLive apps in a different folder -- and OS X software update stopped finding updates for those apps. I had to move them back to /Applications in order to get OS X software update to run them. -

There is only one version of the Lightroom program. The Lightroom standalone version, the student version, and the CC version are all the same program. The only difference is in how they are licensed. The standalone version that you are using is activated with a serial number. The CC installation is activated with your Adobe ID and Adobe password. I would suggest that you uninstall your standalone version. Then you will be able to install Lightroom from the creative cloud application manager. The application manager will keep track of updates for you as they are released. And when Lightroom 6 is released you will get it automatically, no additional charge, as part of your creative cloud subscription.
Uninstalling your current Lightroom will uninstall the program, but will leave the catalog and all user files as well as all of your images on the computer. Once you have installed Lightroom from the creative cloud manager you will be able to simply double-click on the desktop icon (which will look just like the old one) and start right where you left off. Everything will be intact, business as usual. I know this because I went through the process I have described when I joined the creative cloud. It happened just as I have described. There were no problems in switching. -

If the new version has an uninstaller run it first. Othewise with Mac OS drag the app to the trash and empty the trash. Do an install if a dialog box asks if you want to replace or keep files with similar names choose replace. -
Problems with current version of AIR. Won't load and also can't uninstall

I use AIR 3 to run McMillan Study guides Master your CDCs. when I updated my mac to lion and tried to run the application the application couldn't find AIR 3 on my mac. Is this the error you are getting when you are installing AIR 3.0? Or is this the error you are getting after you've already installed AIR 3.0 and attempting to run AIR applications? If it's the latter, which applications are you trying to run? Can you please send us your logs so that we can investigate further? Thanks!

Warranty and Support are only valid in the country of origin. You will need to take the device to whatever country it originally came from.

When I click on iPhoto icon I get a box that reads "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." Whether I hit Quit or Upgrade the problem is not fixed. Assuming iPhoto 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
