No.  but you can sell it privately and use the proceeds towards a newer used model.

  • Replacing a old photo with a new one.

Using iPhoto right now, would this be something that is easy in Aperture, will switch tomorrow if it works better. A few years back I imported some of my photos off of a photo cd that came with my prints. Now I am scanning the negs at a higher resolution than they supplied on the photo cd. My question is.. is there anyway to replace the old photos with the new photos so that all of my faces, places, dates, keywords etc. will remain intact?

Also make sure you've renamed the new file exactly the same as the old file, same case, format, etc.

  • I replaced an old Itouch with a new one, and now Itunes will not recognize the new one.

I recently replaced my old I Touch with a new one.  Now I cannot get Itunes to recognize it in my library.

    See:

You need iTunes 10.7 or later on the computer.

  • Replacing my old library with a new one

I have the iPhone 5s which was synched to a PC with my iTunes library. My PC broke, so I bought a MacBook Air. When I pulled up iTunes and logged into my account on my Mac, none of my songs (other than purchased ones) were available. I was happy about this because I had been wanting to start fresh with my library, so I built a completely new one. When it came time to sync my phone, I plugged it in, and all the songs from my old library were there. I went into settings on my phone and deleted all the music off my iPhone, plugged it back into my Mac, and all of the songs from my previous library were still there. I want to sync my new library to my phone, but I am worried that if I do that then all the songs from my old library will sync from my phone to my computer, which I do not want. The apps, however, I do want to keep. I tried to delete them through my Mac while my phone was plugged in, but it did not give me the option to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

    Hi rreichlin26,
One way to do what you describe would be to manage your iPhone's content manually. See this article for how to do it -
Manage content manually on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod ...
Content from other sources than the iTunes store, such as music from CDs, will not sync back from the iPhone to the computer.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • If I replace my old iMac with a new one can I burn DVDs on an external drive using Mountain Lion or Toast?

My 2006 iMac is getting a bit long in the tooth and I was thinking of replacing it with a new one. However, Mac have not included an optical drive and I back up my photographs on DVD as well as external hard drives. I also supply DVDs of my work to friends etc.
Will I be able to burn to an external drive using Mountain Lion or other software such as Toast? Does the burn option still exist on the new machines?

    Hello,
You shouldn't have any problem, if you do just try Burn...

  • Replacing my old iphone with a new one, need guidance/help please

    Hello fellow iPhone users.
This is my first post on these message boards ever so please excuse me if this has already been discuessed before.
Recently a friend of mine dropped my iphone pretty badly and it got scratched up except for the screen however he offered to replace it for me by buying me a new one. I insisted he didnt need to but now its too late because he already opened the box. My question is, what is the process I have to do to activate my new iPhone and deactivate my old one? Can someone explain to me the steps involved in this process?
Also, how can I transfer all my contacts that are only on my iPhone to my computer so that I can transfer my contacts back again to my new phone? Also, how can I transfer all my bookmarks on my older iPhone to my comptuer so that I can send them to my new phone? Is there any clear cut easy way to do this process? Any help is much appreciated.
Essentially, what I want to do is restore all my settings, text messages, email settings, wifi hot spots, bookmarks, images etc etc on to my new iPhone while restoring my older iPhone to its blank factory condition.
    Thanks a bunch

    iphonefan1,
To transfer your information from your old iPhone to your new iPhone, you are going to want to do a few things:
    1) Backup any information on the old iPhone to your computer. You can use Windows Address book or Outlook (2003 or 2007) to backup contacts and Internet Explorer to backup your bookmarks. You will need to import any pictures you have taken on the iPhone to your computer (they do not sync) or email them if you would like them saved. Sync your old iPhone with iTunes so that it will make a backup of your text messages and other preference information.
This article describes what information can be directly synced from your iPhone to the computer:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306071
    2) Take your SIM card out of your old iPhone and put it into the new iPhone. This takes all of your ATT account information to the new iPhone so that you will not have to run through a full activation again. You will have to run through a mini-activation, but all of your information will already be set up.
    3) Connect the new iPhone into your computer. As part of the mini-activation process, iTunes will ask you if you want to restore your iPhone from the backup. If you say yes, then it will use the preferences from your old iPhone and put them on the new iPhone. You can then sync any information (contacts, bookmarks, photos, etc.) that you backed up on the computer from the old iPhone to the new iPhone.
This article will help you import the data on your computer to the iPhone:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305741
    4) Once you are confident that all of your information has been transferred from the old iPhone to the new one, you can restore the old iPhone and that will put the software back to factory settings. That will also erase all of your old data. (This process cannot be undone, so please make sure you do not need any information off the old iPhone before you restore.)
    Hope this helps!

  • How to replace an old DC with a new one with out to much work

Without having to unjoin and rejoin all the clients to the new domain?
Basically my company has an old Server 2003 R2 standard and we are getting a new server machine with a 6 core E5 Xeon that will have Server 2012 R2 standard installed. I will be transferring all the data from the company share drive easily
and making it shareable on the new server. I just don't want to go over to each computer and unjoin them from the old domain and join them to the new domain on the new server, and have to setup their outlook, move their data in the user profile etc...
I want to keep the same domain name and users.

Probably your easiest option is to join the new 2012 R2 server to your existing domain, promote it to be a second domain controller, then once it's running as a DC move the FSMO roles from the old server to the new one (see
http://trunkofmemorie.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/how-to-change-fsmo-roles-in-windows-2012.html for a step by step guide to the process) so the new server effectively is in charge, then when you're ready you can demote the old server before disjoining it
from the domain and retiring it.
    See http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/57636-migrate-active-directory-from-server-2003-to-server-2012-r2 and

  • Can iTunes convert a file and replace the old file with the new one?

I am trying to convert my wav files to Apple Lossless to save some space. How can I convert the files and make them replace the old files? Right now it just converts new files so that I end up with two files. I have thousands I want to convert and just replace the old ones.
I have an external program that will do it for me, however if I go that route then when my ITunes files are converted to lossless files I need to re-link the files as they show up with the ! showing they are missing. That would mean manually re-linking every song, which would take forever unless there is a way to mass re-link all the files.

iTunes does not see the newly created files as the same file because they are not the same file.  They are new, different files.  If you have a track that is 1234.wav and you create 1234.mp3 it simply isn't the same file and you can't trick iTunes into thinking it is.  iTunes will handle it as a brand new file.
Check Dougscripts web site for scripts which help modifying tag data.  However, I suspect you won't find any doing exactly what you want doing.  Some tag data are only accessible by iTunes itself.
As for playlists, there's things you can try though they may be more effort than they are worth.  For example, you could add a special code for each playlist to some element of a tag (e.g., grouping).  Convert the file, then make a smart playlist selecting for the code you added to the group of tracks in the old playlist.  If you have hundreds of playlists with a dozen tracks each this will be a grand nuisance.  If it is a handful of playlists with hundreds of tracks each this might be worth it.
Another way to preserve playlists would be to edit the .xml copy of the iTunes library file, replacing ".wav" with ".mp3" or whatever format you are using.  However, this won't help with play counts because that is only stored in the .itl copy of the file which you cannot edit.

  • Controlling my old computer with my new one

I have an old G4 that I want to connect to my TV, but be able to control it, wirelessly, with my newer macbook.
    how do I do this?
I have connected my G4 to the TV via s-cable and RCA cable. I only need to network. while I'm on this subject, how do I use the printer that is attached to my PC with my laptop?

Let's deal with the issues one at a time here.
What OS is on the G4? Does it have an Airport card? Do you want complete control of the machine?

  • Replacing my old Classic with a new one

I'm receiving a new Classic iPod for Xmas, and am curious about what to do about deauthorizing the old one. Is that absolutely necessary before hooking up the new one?

I'm receiving a new Classic iPod for Xmas, and am curious about what to do about deauthorizing the old one.
Nothing. If you're selling or giving away the old one, restore it in iTunes first.

  • Replacing my base computer with a new one

I use Airport Extreme for Windows.  I have a new computer and want to use it as the base computer.  I can't figure out how to replace the base station.  I am hoping I do not have to uninstall Airport and reinstall on the new machine.  Any ideas?

Please explain what you mean by "base computer".  Once an Apple Wi-Fi base station (or any router, for that matter) is configured, there is no special status for the computer that was used to configure the router.

  • Not very relevant, but how do I replace my old router with a new one?

Recently I got a new router and I don't really know how to install it. When I first moved into my house, the guys from COX (my local internet service provider) had to come in, plug in the modem and router, go outside to the electrical box, flick some switches in there, and finally got my router working.
I'm afraid that if I unplug the wires connected to my old router and plug it into my new router, I might reset everything and the COX guys have to come again and all that.
So how do I replace the router without causing chaos?

By reading the user manual that came w/your router, contacting the manufacturer and/or visit their customer support/troubleshooting website.

  • I replaced my old router with a new one, then tried the old one again, now the old one doesn't work.

I've had my old router (i'll call it router 1) for about two years now. I felt like changing it, so I got router 2. When I took the cables from router 1 and put it into router 2, the new router worked instantly. But when I tried switching routers again (I was curious), the router 1 no longer worked. Why is that?
When I plug router 2 back in it works fine but now if I try to use router 1 it doesn't work...

sort of. I had router two on for a couple hours then I turned it off and plugged in router 1. DIdn't work so I switched back to router 2 and then router 2 worked instantly
