I replaced the battery in my iPod 3G, but it still won't hold a charge. Can this be fixed?

My ipod suffered some water damage early this year, leaving the device itself working fine, but making it so that the battery drained itself within a day after each charge, whether it was used or not.
I therefore assumed the battery was the problem, so I replaced the battery, restored the iPod, and recharged it.  Unfortunately, the problem has continued.  Since the battery got replaced, I imagine the battery itself is fine.  What else could be causing the problem, and how can I get it fixed?

most likely the mainboard and 30 pin connector took some damage and wont connect properly you just might need to replace the mainboard and everything will be fine. (P.S.you should cheak for other damage aswell)
hope it works out :3

  • Okay so my IPod touch 4 won't play music through any headphone I put into the port. I've tried it with 4-5 different headphones but it still won't work.  How can I fix this?

Okay so my IPod touch 4 won't play music through any headphone I put into the port. I've tried it with 4-5 different headphones but it still won't work.  How can I fix this? This isn't the first time something like this has happened but it has never stayed this way for such a long time. If I have to send it in for repairs I will but I'm not sure if its under warranty

    To check for warranty coverage:

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for theother 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

  • I am aware that apple does not replace the battery for my ipod touch 4th generation, but I wanted to know if i purchase a replacement battery, can they recommend someone to replace the battery for me?

I have a ipod touch 4th generation, 32gb, purchased at least 3 years ago.  It will not hold a charge, so I would like to purchase a replacement battery.  Can the apple store recommend someone to install the battery for me once I purchase it from them?

Apple does not repl;ace the battery in your iPod. They exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery.

  • I already replaced the battery in my iPod nano, can I still get the replacement?

I applied for the replacement of my iPod nano, 1st gen. I replaced the battery myself a couple of years ago. Can I still get the replacement? I'm still waiting for my box to send the nano back in but don't want to send it if it's just going to get rejected. Is it possible I could even get charged for evaluation if I send it in?
    Thanks,
    Mike

The recall is due to the original batteries being faulty
If you replaced the battery yourself, then you don't have a faulty battery anymore so why bother sending it back?

  • Can I go to an Apple store to replace the battery of my iPod touch 4th Generation without a proof-purchase or if I brought it somewhere else?

I have an iPod touch 4th Generation that needs battery replacement after 2 years of use. Can I go to an Apple Store in my area to get my battery replaced? I brought the iPod in another store. Do I need a proof-of-purchase or it is too late due to the way past of Apple's warranty or I can't due to not officially not purchasing the iPod touch at the Apple Store? I welcome your feedback. Thank you!

Apple will replace your iPod with a refurbished one for $79 (USA) or you could do a Google search on "replace iPod battery" for a local or on line repair place that will replace the battery for less.  You can even find a replacement battery (same search) and replace it yourself if you're up to it.

  • New battery & still won't hold a charge

    Hi All:
I have a 6th Gen 120GB silver Classic. A few weeks ago the battery started to totally drain in a few hours' time. I had a new battery installed a few days ago, with no change.
I've done a few soft resets to no effect. The tech who replaced the battery says it could be the charging port, but it stays charged while connected to my machine or through the wall charger, so I doubt that's the culprit. I'm starting to think my only recourse is a restore, which is something I want to avoid if at all possible--I have everything backed up, but it's still going to take me a few weeks to reload my library
So, has anyone had this problem, and how did you solve it?
    Thanks in advance!!

Presumably, there is a warranty on the new battery. Perhaps you should talk again to whoever changed it.

  • When do i know it is the right time to replace the battery on my ipod?

i do not know if my ipod ever had the ability to deliver 16 hours of playback as the system spec claimed, but right now after more than a year's use and almost always leaving on the charger when i am home, i can get about 10 hours continous playback at best.
i am pretty sure that my battery is in the decline phase of its life cycle. when i am transferring pics with my camera connector, it would go way down to the red, then kick back to green once my camera connector is off. in addition, if i leave it off the charger, it would eat up its battery capacity up sooner than i would have guessed.
my question is really two phase:
1)when do you people usually replace your battery.
2)with the ipod photo feeling like brick, should i even bother? perhaps a new ipod video would be the way to go?
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

The reason your iPod's battery is only lasting 10 hours could very well be that your iPod's battery is going. They say that an iPod's battery can undergo 500 charge cycles or charging the battery fully 500 times. I don't know how old your iPod is, but I have a 4G iPod, and I get about 5-6 hours out of a proposed 12. you can try the iPod battery test here:

  • Replaced the Battery in my iPhone 4s but still drains very quick.

My iPhone 4s battery has been draining in about 4-5 hours almost exclusively sitting idle on standby. (No heavy use)
So I purchased a new battery and replaced the old one, but it still drains in about 4-5 hours with very little use.
I read all of the things I could do to help the battery life, I turned off Bluetooth and most location services. I disabled automatic app updates. I lowered the brightness of my screen.
Still seems to die in about the same amount of time.
Does anyone have any other suggestion I could try to help the battery life a little more on an iPhone 4s?
    Thanks in advance.

I replaced it myself using instructions on the Internet. I was quite careful and used all the correct tools. The battery was the high capacity 2680 Ah but with same voltage 3.7V. Have since remove it and re-inserted original battery. However the problem of searching is still there. Funny because everything else including wifi works perfectly. SIM card works perfectly in another iphone 4 so it can't be the SIM card. Have tried all the obvious fixes such as re-boot, connecting to iTunes, system settings etc but no luck. Surely if the 3G antenna was broken you would still get a message that no SIM card was inserted but I don't even get that. It's permanently in the searching state. The iphone is not jail broken.

  • Hi, I need help. My iPad 2 won't start even if I already went through pressing the home and start buttons simultaneously. I also tried charging the battery for more than 30 minutes. Still won't power on. what should I do?

My iPad 2 won't start even if I already went through pressing the home and start buttons simultaneously. I also tried charging the batteries for more than 30 minutes (done this procedure twice) but it won't still power on. What should I do next? Could it be a hardware issue then?
