I restart and permissions are wrong again...

Hello.
I have downloaded a few widgets, upgraded to firefox 2.0.0.1 and after veifying permissions and repairing them, after i restarting and cheking again, they keep appearing as if i never repaired them.
Is this normal?
This is what keeps appearing after turning the computer on and verifying the permissions again.
I also noticed a slower startup... WHAT CAN I DO TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM??

I have read the thread and it's a relief that all the permissions change because of intego startup applications. So meanwhile, the computer startup time is slower until apple correct the issue through a patch in apple's utility disc right? Or how may i correct slow startup problem? I only have "antispam engine" and "AdobeResourceSynchronizer" apps at start up.

After I got a 27" screen, I had problems with the interface text being too small as well. That can be fixed with Mozilla applications if you set up a userChrome.css file in the profile inside a subdirectory called chrome. The code I used:

My Java permissions are wrong can I correct this?

Ran DiskUtility and did a repair... did a restart and ran it againg, the same permissions were wrong again... can I go into 'get info' and manually reset them?
Permissions differ on "System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Classes/dt.jar", should be lrwx-xr-x, they are lrw-r-r--. Also, some CoreServices are wrong, too...

On Mac, this password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software which can harm your system. Flash Player does not throw this prompt, Apple does that.
Please provide machine credentials of currently logged in User to continue with the installation.

Date and time are wrong

My date and time are wrong on boot up and won't adjust back to normal automatically. I think the internet is telling me it's a problem with either my PRAM or CMOS or NVRAM battery, the little guy that holds info while the big guy is tapped. I want to replace this. Is that possible? What is the battery actually called?

Use your PC to sign-on to your mail service using the browser interface they provide. Delete all the e-mails you don't want on the server. That will prevent the iPad from downloading them.

Can't install Mavericks on new HD. It restarts and starts all over again.

I have recently replaced my iMac's HD and have been trying to install the OS. For I lost the Snow Leopard install DVD that came with my Mac, I decided to plug in the old HD in through a USB dock to use the recovery partition (the only one that still works). It boots into it normally, the Disk Utility works like a charm, but when I attempt to install the OS, it loads a little, but then restarts without the bar being complete, and when it comes back up, it starts from the beginning, asking me for a default language. I do it all again, and it restarts too early indefinitely.
I've tried resetting it through the power cable, resetting the PRAM, but neither seem to work. I've also checked whether the partition I'm installing the OS to was already bootable, but it isn't. I'm not sure what it's wrong. Any input is appreciated.

It is always best to have the original system discs that came with any Mac computer. At some point you will need those discs. In this case even if you are successful in reinstalling Mavericks you won't have the originally included iLife Apps without having to buy them from the Mac App store and not all of them are still offered.
I suggest you contact Apple by phone and ask to speak to someone specifically to order a Replacement Set of Original System discs. You will need the serial # of that iMac and there is a small charge for them. But in the end you NEED Those Discs.
As noted they may not help in your present situation.
I must ask why did you replace the drive? Did you need more space or was the drive starting to fail?
Since it looks like there is a cable going from the drive to the logic board.

If your original drive stopped working when installed inside the iMac but you can boot from it when in your SATA to USB Dock then it might be that the cable is bad and that is why the original drive stopped working and you are having problems installing OS X on the new drive.

WM_SETFONT On ListView Works, But GetTextMetrics And GetTextExtentPoint32 Are Wrong.

   The user can use a dialog to set the font typeface, size and type (bold or italic) for a ListView in a dialog.
   This works great by setting the user's choices in a LOGFONT and deriving a font handle, then sending the font handle to the ListView with a WM_SETFONT message.
   The text of the header labels and the list are the selected font, size and type.
   The problem is that I need to adjust the width of the columns.   The size returned from a call to GetTextExtentPoint32() or the average char width returned by a call to GetTextMetrics() appear to be the default sizes, and are unchanged
by the choices the user makes.
   So the columns can be too small for the larger fonts in the ListView.
   After setting the ListView fonts, I've tried the HDC from the ListView and the ListView's header. GetTextExtentPoint32() and GetTextMetrics() are the same for either HDC, and seem to be unchanged by any choice made by the user.
   So I can't adjust the column width for the new font.
   What am I doing wrong?

   I'm guessing this is a common mistake.
   I was under the impression that a device context created for a window, or control, would have the font used by that window.
   After posting, I tried this simple experiment;

   The GetTextMetrics() call in the ifdef clause delivered the wrong values until I added the WM_GETFONT and the SelectObject.
   So I'm guessing I need to add those lines to any code that needs to know the dimensions of the font.
   Is there some reason the device context doesn't know the font of the window used to create it?
   I believe I can safely DeleteObject() on anything returned by SelectObject(), without damaging stock objects. Is this correct?
   Does Direct2D sidestep these issues, or will I still be contending with these GDI "features" if I move the the new interface?

Mail says my gmail usernames and passwords are wrong but they're not

I'm trying to set up my gmail account on my laptop and iPhone but everytime I try I get an error message that reads "Logging in to the Gmail IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn’t correct, you cannot receive messages." I get this message on both devices but when I log onto gmail from a web browser using the same info everything works perfectly. The username and password are correct but mail say they're wrong. Any ideas?

Why does Adobe so often tell me my ID and password are wrong?

I'm very frequently told that my ID/password are wrong!! I change them and then soon get the same annoying message. How do I stop this recurrent problem?

The Adobe Chat sounds intriguing. Was the bottom line on the chat resolving or unresolving?
If you want to send a copy of the chat to me for private viewing, I think the better way would be to send it to me via the Adobe Forums private message system.
To do that, click on my ID at the top of one of my replies in your thread in order to open to my profile page. To the right of that page you will see an orange envelope icon with the word Message next to it. That is the route for the private message sending.

If you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you can rip (copy) video files from that disc and get the video Files (VOBs) to the Premiere Elements Timeline for editing and exporting. Some insists that these video files (VOBs) should be converted to MPEG beforehand. That is not necessary for Premiere Elements and the route described. If problems surface in the route cited, then we troubleshoot them for many factors. All you are going to do in process
a. put your DVD disc in the DVD/CD burner tray
b. open Premiere Elements (pre-set to DV standard or widescreen) and use Add Media/"DVD camera or Computer Drive"/Video Importer where you select your video file(s) VTS_01_1.VOB and, if large DVD content, more in that series.

APP-V 5 Reporting - Start_Time and End_Time are wrong

Has anyone else experienced issues with the Start_Time and End_Time in their reports? We are using APP-V 5 with latest SP and hot-fixes. If I launch an app 10:00 AM, the reports show it was launched at 4:00 PM. I have checked the time zone settings
on clients and server and they are all set the same and proper.

What is your local time zone? I haven't checked, but I could imagin that the XML files store the time in UTC.
In fact that doesn't explain time stamps that have different minutes.
The reporting data is then sent to the reporting server and that sends the data into the database. So, also the reporting server's time zone settings, the database server's time zone setting may have an impact.
Indeed this doesn't explain all the things you've seen

How can I set Firefox to start using a 32-bit kernal? Some Apps are telling me to restart Firefox in 32-bit mode to continue processing on site. How do I initially start Firefox in 32-bit mode and not have to restart and re-acquire connection again.

PC is iMac using Mac OS X ver. 10.6.8, 64-bit Kernal and Extensions = NO
I would prefer to leave this option alone until I upgrade to "Lion"

Acrobat Pro 9, measurement and units are wrong?

when I measure perimeter or area, and input the correct ratio from the blueprints of say .25" = 1 foot, the corresponding output from the tool is wrong...how to adjust the ratio so it's correct?
I have toggled the "use units from document" on/off, tried custom ratios but nothing seems to work.
Is this a problem, am I missing something?

I was having this same issue oh..i'd say round 6pm ET Sunday...no problem anymore, because my mac has been totally wrecked by whatever this is....got in and started activating webservers pumping out info left and right. at this point i am hoping to preserve my music folder, the rest is trash. almost every file. this morning the filename of almost every process running in activity monitor ended in 'd' as in lookupd, blued.
anyone else?
btw...airport has been "off" since sunday...switched to hardwire...cable modem off since early this morning and im still pumping out and receiving data like crazy. Bluetooth? share files set to off..but it keeps changing on its own.
