I restored my iphone on factory setting now the screen is on sos saying sim card not supported what to do?

any solutions please?

Yeah, I have to agree with RoamingGnome...this sounds like more of a Jailbreak issue, not an Apple issue.  If you bought this phone from a legal distributor and just haven't upgraded your iOS since 3.1.2, I'd contact the place where you purchased it.  If you Jailbroke or bought it Jailbroken to get it Unlocked to use with any carrier, my best solution would be to search the net.  I'm pretty sure there is a current Jailbreak for up to iOS 5.1.1, but I'm not really up to date with that information.  I do know that you can legally now purchase a factory unlock from Apple, but I'm not sure if that's only with new purchases or if you can buy an Unlock for an older phone.
My best solution would be to search your phone revision & iOS online and you should get what you're looking for.  Sometimes you can even just search YouTube and they'll have a step-by-step video showing you exactly how to do whatever you might need to get up & running again.
It's pretty rough being without a cellphone, especially if it's your only communication device.  Hopefully this at least pointed you in the proper direction.

It is now locked to the original carrier. Sounds like that was Orange. Only the carrier the phone is locked to can authorize the unlock of the phone. You may be able to use it again on Orange, or if they provide unlock services you may be able to get it unlocked, however I have read of many phones that have been hacked to unlock not accepting the factory unlock. This support document will explain about some of the problems you have been having. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3743

  • Sim card not supported after unlock iphone 5c

iphone 5c, 12.7 GB, version 8.1.1, after unlocking when i connect it to itunes w/ other sim, sim card not supported error registered,. i check it to IMEI and its unlock, but why icant use it? I try to restore to itunes and erase my iphone nothing works, what can i do?

How was the phone unlocked?  Was it unlocked by your previous carrier?  The only way to unlock your phone is to have your previous carrier unlock it for you.
If you phone was unlocked in any other way, this constitutes hacking or jailbreaking and your phone will not work with another sim card.
Get the phone unlocked properly by your carrier and there is no reason why it should not work.

Your phone is in Recovery Mode. You need to connect it to the computer and iTunes and restore the device. Try this support document. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • SIM Card Not Supported.  Never Hacked iPhone Bought From Apple Store!

My 3GS was stolen yesterday. I have my never hacked iPhone 2G that I wanted to re-activate so I went down to the ATT store and they gave me a new sim to put in and activate. iTunes says that the SIM is not supported. Went back and tried another SIM and no luck. After 2 hours at the store still no working phone.
I never hacked the phone, just always updated it with the latest apple software. It sat in a drawer for a year now until my 3GS was stolen. Restore didn't help.
    ANY IDEAS?

Mmmm...the sim you're trying to use is activated, correct? If so, try this:
See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:
Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. You, of course, would chose "new".

  • IPhone 4 Sim Card not supported Help!

I bought an iPhone 4 off someone under the impression that it was UNLOCKED due to the fact that is had no Network on the box (unlike other iPhones i've had)
but when taking my o2 Sim out of 1 iPhone and putting it into my newer one, iTunes was saying that the Sim was not supported,
so im obviously guessing that the iPhone is actually locked to a Network....
I tried Googling the Part/Serial Number and Vodafone kept getting mentioned so might it be locked on the Vodafone Network?
    (MC604B/A)
Any help with this would be appreciated!!
I need to get this sorted asap and need my o2 Sim working in my newer iPhone before my older one has sold (on eBay)
I purchased a Vodafone MicroSim just incase i'll need 1 for whatever reason..
but is there any other way or anyone else I can talk to to get this newer iPhone accepting my o2 Sim?
I cant get onto the iPhone at all as it stays on the main emergency call page as it isn't activated!
    Thanks.

One of the big downfalls of purchasing an iPhone from a non-official source is a mess like this. Only the carrier that an iPhone is locked to can authorize the phone's official unlocking. Just about every carrier that unlocks iPhones will only do so for users active on their network. Thus, you're gonna have to establish service with the carrier this phone is locked to(after verifying they offer unlocking), then request they unlock your phone.

  • When restored an iphone to factory settings, all the info is deleted, included the icloud account?

If I can to restore an iphone 5 to factory settings it means that activation lock is off, right? so when I tried to activate it, it will not ask me the icloud account that was linked before?

Restore the device from the most recent backup (prior to restoring as new) to put everything back the way it was.

  • I just restored my iphone 3g on itunes but when it finished i had recived a error saying that sim card not supported

i restored my iphone 3g and i got an error (the sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported) any HELP

That message appears because your phone was hacked to unlock it in order to use it with the carrier you're now using. Updating software or restoring a hacked iPhone will re-lock it to the carrier it was originally locked to. You have two choices: re-hack it, or get it officially unlocked(only the carrier it is locked to can authorize such).

  • I upgraded my iPhone 4 software to iOS and i now get a message reading "SIM card not supported"

I upgraded my iPhone 4 software to the latest iOS version and now cannot get network coverage. I only receive a message that reads "The SIM Card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported".
anyone with ideas for a possible solution?

You have a phone that is locked to a specific carrier. If it worked with your carrier before the update that means that the phone was hacked or jailbroken. Updating it "undid" the jailbreak and left the phone locked to its original carrier. There is no way to resolve this, as there is no jailbreak for iOS 7 and no way to go back to the previous version of iOS.
