I reverted to saved when using an iMac programme and lost data. How can I go back say 24hrs to how the system and data was then?
Lost a tune I was working on in garageband by reverting to saved.

Do you make backups of the data? If so, it is possible to recover the file you had 24 hours before, but if not, you cannot recover it.
If you have Time Machine, the only thing you have to do is to go to the folder where you have the GarageBand library with the projects (usually, "Music"). Then, open the Time Machine app, navigate to a backup made before which contains the project you want to recovery, choose the file and select "Restore". If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

After downloading lion in the guest area on my imac, how do I enable it to have an affect on the other accounts?
You can only install software from the admin account, so you will need to transfer the Lion installer application to your admin account or re-download it when logged into the admin account.

With MacOS 10.7 looming on the horizon, using veteran software DREAMWEAVER MX any longer does not seem to be such a good idea. I would like to use an editor that can cope with the new MacOS. Is iWeb that editor?
Specifically, I need some clarity on these issues:
Can I switch to iWeb now to create and publish content in my old website for which I have been using DREAMWEAVER MX?
Can I use the html layout I have been using in DREAMWEAVER, or do I have to steel myself for drastic changes?
How do I import the complete website into iWeb – if at all?If you switch to iWeb you will have to build the site from scratch since iWeb can't read or import html files. Also since the future of iWeb is a little uncertain as to if it will be continued to be supported by Apple it might not be the best move at this time.
You might look into upgrading to Dreamweaver for Mac.

on my previous macbook when using an input device, i.e. external memory or CD etc. an icon would appear on the desktop,have recently bout an imac and this does not happen, wondering if there is a way to put input devices to appear on the desktop?

When using my iMac the screen turned blue and so I turned the compute off. When I turn on again power does get to the computer but there are no chimes and the screen remains black. Any advise please. David

To start troubleshooting this issue where your iMac's screen will not illuminate, please reset your SMC by following the information outlined below.
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord.
Wait fifteen seconds.
Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: For Intel-based Xserve computers that are not responding, you can shut down locally, or by using remote commands, or by pressing and holding the power button for five seconds.

Own Photoshop CS5.1 installed on two iMacs, when using second iMac, rarely used,got error message ~"not authorized to use program" on this second iMac I have two accounts one in my name one in my wife's both share photoshop...was in my wife's account when I got message...never happened on my primary iMac on which I have my own account and one for guest account that doesn't share photoshop....what is wrong..am allowed to install program on two machines?

When I click on the Music tab on my Apple TV 2, a message tells me I have to set up iTunes Match to stream music from my iTunes library on my iMac. I don't want to set up and pay for iTunes Match. How can I get back to the pre-Match system which let me just use home sharing to stream music from computer to Aple TV

You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

I'm trying to reinstall Mavericks on used Macbook Pro. When I log in to my Apple ID, it says it was not the same ID used to purchase Mountain Lion. I need to change user/admin as a lot of the folders and apps are in Chinese!
The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support. -

I recently purchase an ipad2. I also have a mac laptop. Now, when I facetime call using my iphone to my ipad2 or mac, it states busy. how can i fix this problem? I have the same apple id e mail for both ipad2 and mac. it might be getting confuse now. I just purchase my ipad2 2 days ago. yesterday, there was a sound. today there is no sound. there is a sound only in movies and you tube and music. but no sound on all apps and keyboards. I look it up and seems like ther are few that have this problem. I called walmart coz I bought it there and they told me that they have not heard that before but if I can't fix it, just return it and exchange it with anew one since I have 14 days to do that. I tried rebooting it and still won't work. Should I just restore it?

when using my mac book pro, there's a window that comes up saying to force quit applications. i've done the updates cleaned out computer and have taken it in but it wont stop coming up. what can i do?
The force quit window appears when you:
a) type the key combination <CMD> + <OPT> + <ESC>
b) you select the menu item " > Force Quit..." -
My iPad2 no longer connects to my home wifi network but there is no problem connecting to other saved wifi networks. Currently using iOS8.0.2. with storage capacity of 12.2Gb but only 147Mb free. Disconnecting the router and rebooting the iPad worked briefly as a temporary fix but not anymore
You could try this
Temporarily disable security on your home network
See if the iPad connects
If it does then reset the security - with the same or different password
