I right click a link to open it in a new tab and it doesn't load the web page.

In firefox 4 I right click a link and go to open in new tab but it doesnt load the link it loads a Bing search instead. This is very frustrating, how can i fix this?
And why can't i access my add-ons? When i click add-ons it just opens a new tab.

I want to be able to hold control while I click on a link to open it in a new tab. This works on chrome so why not on Firefox?

A Ctrl and left-click should work in Firefox as well.

When I click a link to open it in a new tab, firefox jumps to another tab that is already opened.

I have my options set to open new windows as a new tab. But when I do, rather than staying in the tab I'm in (even though I have options set to stay there not go to the new tab immediately) Firefox sends me to ANOTHER Tab that is already opened (neither the current one nor the newly opened one).

That feature isn't new to 3.6.8, it was changed in 3.6.

When I right click on a link to open in new tab and move my cursor into the dialog box the box dissapears this is new in the last 24 hours.

I'm using Firefox 8.0 on Suse 11.4 today is 11/28/11 the past 24 hours I've been experiencing this: I always try to right click on links and open in new tab, lately when I do so and move the cursor into the dialog box the box disappears. Also if I online shop say for clothing, if I want to change size's when I click the button to do so nothing happens when I want to scroll down and pick a different size, (I can hi-light the size and click on it then when the window scrolls back up the default size is still there. This isn't consistent with all web sites.

Why is it that sometimes when I use my middle mouse button to click on a link to open it in a new tab I will have it open it in an entirely new instance of Firefox instead of a new tab?

Occasionally when I click on a link with my middle mouse button, instead of opening the page in a new tab, it will open a new instance of Firefox.
I've looked through some of the settings and I wasn't able to find anything. It really gets to be bothersome at times because I prefer things to be in tabs instead of a new browser.

It's not specific sites. I can middle-click on the same link 50 times and it will open it in a new tab 45 times and 5 of those times, it will randomly open it in an entirely new window. I don't know what's causing this.
It happens so randomly that I don't know how to pin-point what it could be.

I am running 3.6.12 and my new tab and/or window actions are the same. How can i open new links within apps into new tabs?

I used to be able to control new tab actions such as opening on top of current tab or in a new tab. This is frustrating as i always cover up where I am or was! How can this be corrected so I can open a new tab in a new tab? I am enrolled in an on-line class and can not open tabs in a new tab as needed as it always places the new tab on top of teh current or old tab.
Funny as i use to complain about opening in new windows!
I am missing how to control new tabs and new window actions?

In the prior Firefox version when I opened a new tab there would be thumbnails on the blank page below tabs of web sites that I frequented- now the screen is just blank- is there a way to see the thumbnails below again?

In the prior version of Firefox before I was encouraged to download the newest version... when I would open a new tab: on the blank page below would appear thumbnail versions of web sites I had frequented which was awesome to return to sites without even going to bookmarks. Now when I open a new tab it is just a blank white screen beneath. Is there something I can do to make thumbnails appear again on the screen below when I open a new tab?

Right-Clicking a link to Open in a New Tab

I got used to opening a link in a new tab by right-clicking the link and typing T. Nice and fast, much more convenient than using the mouse to click on the Open in a New Tab choice.
Sometime within the past few months that stopped working. Now to force open a link in a new tab, I have to click on the choice with the mouse. The "T" key doesn't work.
Is there any way to restore that functionality? Believe it or not, for a tiny, picky thing, I really miss it.

I have found the culprit!
The Add-on Copy as Text uses a right click on selected text with a hot key of T to copy the text. If I disable that, the normal functionality to open a link in a new tab works with right-click-T.

Ever since I updated, I can no longer right click on links, choose "Open Link in a new tab" and expect it to do anything at all. WTF!

I should note, I am using the latest version as of today, I am using the portable version, and I have a TON of addons, a list of which I can post if I have to. Any Ideas what could be causing this? I use the "Open link in a New Tab" option every single day. I don't want to have to hit some special button to do so like my current temporary workaround with tab mix plus, I miss the old method, the option is still there in the context menu, but it won't do a single thing ever :(. Also not working is "Open Link in This Tab" and "Open Link in Duplicated Tab" (Not that I ever use those ones so who give a F). "Open Links in New Tabs" Still works though, but not for single links, so its not an ideal workaround. I can't afford to simply reset the browser, my settings, my addons, everything would be gone. I could back it up with FEBE but then I would be right back where I started. :(

Guys, I should wrap this up and let you all know so this page may help those experiencing the Firebug Context Menu Glitch. It's messed up, that was one of my favourite programs :(. Now looking for a version that doesn't do that.

In panorama, when I left click and drag to open a new tab group, unclicking doesn't create the new group and left clicking again only creates another group without finalizing the first one.

In Firefox 4.0 beta 11 (Windows 7 Professional) left clicking in panorama creats a new tab group but letting go doesn't finalise the group. I have XP mode on my computer and firefox b11 works fine in the virtual PC.

I deleted bing as one of my search engine choices, but the bin page still appears when I open a new tab. How do I stop the bing page showing up?

I clicked on the search engine emblem and then I clicked on the "manage search engines" line. I then deleted bing as a search engine option. However when I open a new tab the bing page appears on my screen. How do I stop this from happening?

The most straightforward seems to be: hold Ctrl and Left-Click on the Reload button. You could also Middle-click on the Reload button (e.g. "click" with the mouse wheel, if you have a wheel-mouse.) The thread above also has some other options.
Edit: you could also hold Ctrl and drag a tab next to itself to clone it, another suggestion from the above thread.

My Firefox 8 for Mac no longer will launch properly. It opens, and immediately hangs before loading the home page and connecting to any website. Does anyone have any ideas about how to correct this? Thanks!

All I get is a blank home page, along with a spinning beach ball. I cannot open the preferences to try to clear the cache, and must force quit to get out of Firefox. I have tried clearing the cache from the Library, and trashed the preferences file. I uninstalled the application, and reinstalled a newly downloaded application. I have restarted the computer many times, and run the disk utility to repair permissions. Nothing has worked. I have not added or upgraded anything on my computer since Firefox was working just a few days ago. Safari works fine connecting to the web. I have read through most of the support documents at Firefox Help, but cannot find anything that addresses this specific problem of hanging immediately after launch.

I have the exact same problem--and it just started around November 11, 2011. I have rebooted, reinstalled, and relaunched many times and Firefox just hangs on launch. Spinning beach ball of death and all that.

When I hit my home button, firefox opens a new tab window each time along with the homw page that it takes me to. How do I stop this extra tab from opening?

The above question says it all. I get an extra blank window opened every time I go to my home page using the Home button.

Do you have a '''|''' following the web address that you set for your Home Page in Options > General?
That vertical bar symbol is used to separate tabs URL's when multiple homepages are set as the "Home Page", and if only that vertical bar symbol is there, a blank tab will be opened.
