THis is safe for Mac's? Sorry, I have just never heard of this site before.
And there are literally tens of thousands of sites of which I've not heard, too. Not this one.
It's legit. There are lots of links in Apple Support Communities to the LibreOffice web site, as well as others that are legitimate open-source developers of options to buying MS Office, such as NeoOffice and OpenOffice. I have Open Office installed on one of my older Macs that can't run Office 2011 and it is rock-solid.
I've been here too long to start posting bogus urls now.

If you enter any field information, the modified document cannot be saved with Adobe Reader. It does not have the necessary usage rights applied. You can save with a different PDF viewer that supports forms, such as Acrobat or Foxit Reader.

Shot videos ONLY in landscape. For photos choose what's you like. Maybe you have to rotate photos on PC. What's your operating system?

I assume that you don't have the installation discs, so:
    1. Reboot
    2. Hold command + s key down after you hear the chime.
    3. When you get a text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
    (Type these commands very carefully)
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
    4. You will go through the setup process again, create a new admin account, login to it and then change your existing account password or whatever else you need to do. You can delete the account you made in this process, or not.

  • HT4528 I have accidentally restored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contacts, photos, and apps.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this to get my contacts and photos back?

I have accidentally retored my phone back to factory settings and lost my contact list, photos and all.  I have retrieved my apps via itunes but is there any way to reverse this so I can get my photos and contact list back?

Some accident with all the steps and warning messages provided.
All contacts on your iPhone should be available on your computer. Not a good idea to depend on an iPhone or any cell phone alone for such important data. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Contacts and photos/videos in the Camera Roll should be included with your iPhone's backup which should have been created or updated by iTunes as the first step during the restore process - unless you declined the option.
If you declined the option, the data is gone. If not, restore your iPhone again from the backup that was created or updated before the previous restore.

I suggested contacting Compub in Nassau St as the info is priceless and worth the trouble of trying to regain?
Any thoughts? The poor lady is very distress

If she has backed up her iPhone she can replace that iPhone and set up the new iPhone from her backup.
You can put the iPhone that went into water into a plastic baggie with either new silica gel packets (preferred) or raw rice and let it sit for  4 - 5 days. After that time remove the phone and connect it to power for at least a half hour. While it is still connected to power reset it by holding down the power and hold button, wait for the Apple logo then let go of the buttons. Might take several tries. If it revives immediately back it up.

  • TS1702 Every time I try to install an app of the App Store. The iPad refuses to install it and it just says waiting... For hours. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I am unable to install any applications from the App Store. Every time I try to install an app the iPad refuses to install it and it just says waiting... For hours. Is there a way I can fix this? If so, how?

I have posted these suggestions many times in the iOS forum and a number of these things have worked for other is the past. Maybe one of them will work for you.
Tap the "waiting" icon and see if you can pause it. If it does pause, then tap it again and see if it will resume. If that works, repeat the same steps for each "waiting" icon.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try to update again. Tap one waiting icon only if necessary to start the download stream.
You can also try deleting the waiting icons - tap and hold down on an icon until it wiggles - the tap the X on the icon to delete it. Then try to download again.
You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

  • I have a ton of cookie exceptions, and sometimes I need to change one from "blocked" to "allow". Is there a way to "search" this file?

Paging through the large set of cookie exceptions, to find the one that is causing me not to be able to access a site is getting to be impossible. For example, I want to use ESPN's fantasy football site, but at some point, I must have decided to "block" one of the many cookies that they wanted to set. Now, I cannot get into the site, and I have no luck finding the offending cookie. Is there a way to search this exceptions (or permissions) file so I can find the cookie faster?

The about:permissions was just what I was looking for! Perfect.
Thanks jshcer2000 for the prompt response.

  • Is there a way to crack this file encryption code?

The text below is a little irrelevant for the question, it explains how I discovered the code:
I was randomly making weird binary operations on my notebook (I mean, I REALLY do that, actually...), when I had an idea.
    After a few operations, I found out a way to encrypt files with a password. It was based on operating the original byte with a password in both AND and OR ways, resulting two bytes, then operate them back with: return (byte) ( ( factor & AND ) | ( ( ~factor ) & OR ) );
It worked, but I a few minutes later I figured it can be cracked by simply decrypting the two bytes with every possible byte and seeing which ones return the same result, then testing these ones with the next AND/OR bytes, and so on until a single byte (or a single sequence) remains. Plus, the encrypted file was twice bigger than the original file.
Then I thought a little. The two bytes sum sixteen bits, but the result is only eight bits wide, so there are eight bits that aren't used for anything. If I could match the AND and OR bytes by removing the useless bits, I'd get a single encrypted byte, which means the file is the same size as the original and you could not use the strategy I said above, so it's theoretically uncrackable. I figured out the formula in another couple minutes.
    The question itself:
The formula for generating an encrypted byte is:
    byte res = (byte) ( ( temp & ( ~pass ) ) | ( ( ~temp ) & pass ) );
    //res = the encrypted byte
//temp = the original byte from the file
//pass = the password byteI also realized that the same formula can be used both for encrypting and decrypting.
The question is: Is it possible for anyone to crack this without using the "brute force" method?
Please note I never studied this security stuff before, so I have no clue whatsoever if this formula already exists or something like that (it probably does, somewhere). A book on the issue would really help. Thanks.

    O.o weird
I was using XOR operations and I didn't know it. Just noticed.
    Thank you very much. ^^
By the way, about that book, any suggestions?
Edit: Oh and, if the key bytes are a sequence as big as the file itself, can it still be cracked under frequency analysis?

My daughter got an Ipod for Xmas and I set up the apple account before hand & used my email address to set it up, now I have purchased an Iphone 4 and I want to have a separate itunes for my music.... is there a way to have two separate itunes accounts under the same email address?

Thanks.  I have my iPad on my lap and her iPod in my hand. We can FaceTime each other but it won't let either of us message each other. I know mine is activated as I use it frequently. I have activated hers as well. Maybe I will put it in the too hard basket for tonight, sleep on it and try again tomorrow.

  • I have a pile of images that I need to add dimensions to. (show height, width, depth with arrows). I think data merge won't work for this because the images are all different. Is there any way to automate this?

I've been doing this manually for hundreds of images, and it seems like i could create an action that would reference the folder of images and also reference a text file and merge the two. Is this possible?

basically, i have 300 images that are silhouetted and on a white background. i need to draw in arrows and then place the dimensions on the image, much like this:
But you're right - i will check on the scripting forum. thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

  • Deleted Garageband off my 2007 iMac Intel and no longer have the original reinstallation disk and I don't wan't to buy Garageband again. Is there any way to get it back for free?

Any help? I wouldn't mind any links to where I can install Garageband for free even if it's not from Apple. (Currently running Mac OS X 10.5.8 and will be updating the software tomorrow on February 13th to Snow Leapord 10.6)

If you don't want to purchase the latest version, you have to call Apple to get replacement DVDs for the iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When you receive the discs, just insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 2 and install GarageBand.
If you have a Time Machine backup, you can use it to restore GarageBand. First, open Finder and select Applications on the sidebar. Then, open Time Machine app and navigate through your backups to restore the application

  • Opening Claris Works-documents with Pages 2.0.2

    Hi fellow users,
I've got an iMac with OSX 10.5.5 and I'm using Firefox 3.0.1 as my browser right now. Is there any way I could open my old Claris Works -textdocuments with Pages 2.0.2? If not, then do you know a any other way I could open them?

Thank you both Yvan and dwb. But. The problem is that because I don't have the original Apple Works in my hard disk anymore the AppleWorks 6 Update does not work in my case because it only tells: "The default location required for this install could not be found. This install will be cancelled".
What you got is normal. The updater apply to older intalled AppleWorks 6.
If you need to open your documents, you need AppleWorks 6.
So search a bit on the Net to buy one copy.

    Waiting for reply.

    Eneas,
This is a case of file corruption.
One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the (PDF contents, if any, of the) corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.
Here are some websites where you can see whether it can rescue the actual file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,
    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
    http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-fi le-recovery/
    http://www.illustrator.fixtoolbox.com/
As far as I remember, the first one is for Win and the second one is for Mac, while the third one should be for both.
Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:

External media: It is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky (for a while), but the chances of file corruption and other unpleasantnesses are immensely greater when you use anything but the harddisk, and it is better to be safe than sorry.
In addition to the (far greater) risk of file corruption, some issues are mentioned here:
