  • VS2010 will support Seagate crystal report 6.0?

    Hi All,
This is to inform you that we are currently using the VC++ 6.0 and Seagate Crystal Reports 6.0 in our application and we are successfully upgraded vc++ 6.0 to VS 2010.
but We tried Seagate Crystal report 6.0 to lastest version ,but rewrite application in our side , so we won't possible to rewrite application.
My question is, VS2010 will support Seagate crystal report 6.0?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Esha,
VS supports Managed Code now, using unmanaged C++ code may or may not work. As we've all told you, CR 6 is 12 years old now and it had no concept of Visual Studio 2010 or managed C+. It's still c+ so if you get it working then great, if not there is absolutely nothing we can do for you. There should be no reason it won't work as long as the C++ dependencies included with VS 2010 still supports 1997 VS 5/6 C++ runtime. If those dependencies are not available then Cr likely won't work.
For the last time, upgrade to CR for VS 2010 and move to CR Assemblies, you can still write and use CR in Managed C+, lots of people do, we don't have any samples for you though. Lot's of C# samples which is MS's replacement for unmanaged C+.

Bottom line is we can't Confirm if it will work, you are mixing 1998 and 2011 technologies so there is absolutely no guarantee from SAP this will ever work and you will never get one from SAP. You are on your own....
There are so many reasons why it likely won't work to list, OS's, DB clients, Windows Dependencies, SECURITY, to name a few that even if it did work does your Company want to sell and support something that if your users have issues there is no way of ever getting it fixed?
Seriously, It's time to talk to your Product team and catch up with current technologies and Crystal Reports.

  • Windows 7,  64 bit support to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP5

Will the Windows 7,  64 bit support to Crystal Reports XI R2 SP5  be added?
Moving to CR 12 is the only solutions?
    What are the options?
    regards,
    Srini

    Hi Srini,
No, XI R2 is getting close to legacy mode so no new OS platforms will be added unless some large Partner requests it. Cr 12 is the only option, R2 will likely anyways. It wont be officially supported but it should work.
    Thank you

  • Flawed Support Offerings - Crystal Reports

Finding information on your web site is extremely cumbersome and awkward. I'm looking for solutions to ClickOnce deployment of Crystal Reports 2008.  Searching forums gives me lots more questions, few answers.  This kind of problem should be in a technical note or FAQ somewhere, where is it? or why not?
Downloaded files all seem to be corrupted (regardless of what browser you use.) example ClickOnce Fix 1.6 and 1.7
If you actually get a non-corrupt file, there are no instructions contained within on what to do with it.
Crystal Reports contains an auto-update feature.  But it doesn't seem to work!
Were can I find useful information on ClickOnce deployment of Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 within a Visual Studio 2008 application?  Where are valid non-corrupt files?  Where should these files be placed?  Should deployument files be "download from the vendor" or downloaded from the deployment directory?
Edited by: Shane Brodie on Sep 4, 2009 6:35 PM

    Hi Shane,
For your download problems try using a download manager, it may be that it was interupted and caused a byte to get altered.
Could also be the site has problems, try again.
With the changes to the support sites those links in CR Designer simply re-direct to the way SAP supports downloads. They are still there, just a different way to get them.
As for documentation you will find it under the BusinessObjects tab above and the Articles. We now separate the file from the info. Just select the Product and version and you'll find all the info you are looking for. Do not use IE 8, it's a known issue with this version.
Thank you for your feedback. I'll pass it onto those who manage the site.

  • Mail barcode support in Crystal Reports 2008 - does it really exist?

We are looking to add mail bar codes to our existing reports.  The cover letter of the report includes a mailing label and we would like to add a mail bar code underneath it.  I called 888-229-2276 yesterday and explained what I wanted to do.  I was instructed to download a trial version from the website and take a look at the help as this feature was added in Crystal Reports 2008.  The help didn't explain much more than right click the fieled you want to bar code and select the Bar Code option listed.  What this created was a regular bar code that looks like a UPC you would find in the grocery store.  I tried both Azalea fonts, but got the same result.
How does one create an Intelligent Mail barcode or PostNet barcode?

Having dealt with both PostNet and Intelligent Mail Barcodes (IMB), using CR XI R1, here are a couple of things that might shed some light:
    1.  PostNet and IMB are vastly different, so you choose which one you want to generate.  PostNet requires some calculation based on the zipcode and/or zip+5 whereas IMB requires specific information such as Mailer ID etc assigned to your company by USPS.
    2.  You can download a PostNet font, which can be found on the web as shareware etc.  IMB font can be downloaded from USPS for free.  For more info on IMB check out [https://ribbs.usps.gov/index.cfm?page=intellmailmailpieces]
    3.  IMB is very specific to your company and as such requires a thorough understanding of the type of mail you will be sending and if it is bulk or BRM etc etc.  It would be better to consult with the USPS customer rep for your company to determine if IMB is appropriate for you.
    4.  PostNet is a breeze compared to IMB.  All you need do is determine if the barcode will be based on zip or zip+5 and delivery point codes which determines if the barcode will contain 32, 52 or 62 bars.  You then download the font from the web and off you go.  Information on how to calculate/generate PostNet barcodes is all over the internet, the key is downloading the font.
I bet it is all clear as mud but feel free to post if you have more questions.

  • Fonts supported by crystal reports XI

    Post Author: kapsi
    CA Forum: General
Does Crystal reports XI support postscript fonts?
Does Crystal Reports XI allow postscript fonts to be exported to PDF? (I know that this was not possible in Crystal Reports 9. Has this been resolved in XI?)
    Many thanks in advance...

First check is to ensure the Java JVM can see the font.  The Java SDK comes with the JFC demo Font2DTest.  Do the fonts show up there?
Note that the Java JRE has a lib/fonts directory, where you can place TrueType fonts that the JRE then would use.

  • Chart are not supported in crystal report - on top of SAP R/3

    Hi All,
I have made one crystal report on top of SAP R/3 system. I have included some graphs on it.
But when i uploaded that report on infoview portal, it shows blank page when i try to view it on portal. It works fine in Crystal Report 2008.
I have one other report without graphs, it works fine on infoview portal. This reports works fine with "Enterprise" authentication.
    Products:
    - Crystal Report 2008
    - Business object Enterprise 3.0
    - Authentication: Enterprise
Please help as soon as possible.
    Regards,
    Rishit

    Hi..
Ya.. its strange!! Because when i have created a report without Chart.. it works fine on portal. But when i added a chart in same i get blank page.
And have you make that report on top of SAP R/3 (Or ECC).
Even when i have made report on top of SAP BI with chart.. it works fine on portal.
The issue is just with SAP R/3 (Or ECC).

  • Crystal Report (visual studio 2005)-Hyperlink not working on exported PDF

I have created a crystal report by using VS 2005, there are some hyperlinks inside the report.
After i exported the report to PDF, I check the PDF file, none of the link contains inside the PDF file.
It seems a bug, i google this issue, some people can export to RTF first and then in RTF save as PDF, then the link should be there. I tried it, it works, but it totally mess up my report layout.
    Please advise,
    Tommy

Typing the terms "pdf export hyperlink crystal" in the search box at the top right corner of this page comes up with the following KB (5th hit):
[Hyperlinks to files do not work when exported to Portable Document Format (PDF)|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233313336333633363337%7D.do].
"Messed" up report export to RTF does not tell me much either. A link to a screenshot will be great.
Also, what CR Service Pack are you on?

  • Lookout support for SQLSERVER 2005 Express

Any chance of you folks packaging the newest version to replace SQL's MSDE with your Lookout deployments?
Alternatively, can you define a workaround to get Lookout to work with the newest Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (which replaces MSDE 2000a)?
I really wish you didn't use installers to install both Lookout and MSDE setup with mixed authentication mode!
    Cheers,
    Ed

    Ed,
I am not aware of any plans to upgrade to MS SQL Server 2005 in Lookout
nor of a way for Lookout to use SQL Server 2005.  The Lookout
Release Notes explain how you can change SQL Servers to use Windows
Authentication mode rather than Mixed Mode.

  • Using .csv files in Crystal Reports for Eclipse?

I recently installed crystal reports for Eclipse and much of the basic CR functionality seems to be there, but then I added a .csv file as an ODA flat file data source and I can see it in my "Data Source Explorer", but can not seem to drag it into my report to actually report on the data in this file. Am I missing some basic step?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Not all data sources available via the Eclipse Database Explorer component are supported with Crystal Reports for Eclipse.
CSV data sources currently isn't on the [Supported Platforms doc|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/20c69834-cfc4-2b10-da81-960222254295]

  • SAP Integration Kit for Crystal Reports

    Hello,
I read Ingo Hilgefort's blog on BusinessObjects and SAP Part 2.
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/02/19/businessobjects-and-sap-part-2
Does the current trial version of crystal reports available from businessobjects.com have this integration kit embedded in it?
If not, where can i find it?
    Regards,
    Suraj

    hi shenoy,
    SAP Integration Kit
The SAP integration kit includes drivers to allow connectivity to both R3 and Business Warehouse (BW). In addition, it includes a BW toolbar for Crystal Reports, a specific version of InfoView with Role-based links, sample iViews for Enterprise Portal, and an SDK in Java, COM, or .NET.
    Reporting off R3 Data
The kit includes two drivers to allow Crystal Reports to connect to the ABAP data dictionary via a remote function call or RFC.
The Open SQL driver allows the user to connect to SAP R3, displaying the field and the short text description of the tables and fields. The developer can then join the tables accordingly, using the database expert, and then select the relevant fields from which to report. This driver displays not only transparent tables, but includes views, pool tables, cluster tables, ABAP data clusters, and ABAP functions. This driver is geared toward a technical person with functional expertise in joining the tables and then creating the report.

This driver displays not only transparent tables, but includes views, pool tables, cluster tables, ABAP data clusters, and ABAP functions. This driver is geared toward a technical person with functional expertise in joining the tables and then creating the report.
    Note
In Crystal Reports, you cannot check the SQL generated using the Show SQL Query option from the Database menu. You can check what Open SQL was generated by using SAP transactions.
The InfoSet driver allows the user to connect to an existing InfoSet, as defined by SAP transaction SQ02. Alternatively, you can use an existing ABAP query, as defined by SAP transaction SQ01. The benefit of this driver is that the user does not need to know where the data is stored or how to join the tables. Another advantage is that any prompts defined in the InfoSet become parameters in Crystal Reports.
    Note
To test the InfoSet query, run the InfoSet using your SAP GUI and ensure that it is pulling the required data first before testing it in Crystal Reports.
    Reporting off BW Data
When reporting off of BW data, the Business Objects' Integration Kit consists of three drivers that are used to pull data.
The BW Query driver enables the user to connect to a BW query. To enable selection of a query with this driver, Crystal Reports has its own toolbar, as shown in Figure 15.3, and the user needs to select the New Report icon from this toolbar. The user then selects the required BW query, and thus displays a listing of fields available in the query. The user can then create the report using any of those fields. Variables defined in the query automatically become Crystal Reports parameters. After the user has finished building the report, the user saves the report using the BW toolbar. This saves the report to BW, and if the user selects the option to do so, automatically publishes the report to Enterprise.
Figure 15.3. Crystal Reports after the SAP integration kit is loaded. Note the SAP menu and BW toolbar.
Two new drivers have been added to the XI R2 version of the SAP Integration Kit.
The MDX query driver supports using Crystal Reports to report off either a SAP BW query or a BW Cube.
Furthermore, it adds additional functionality by providing support for
A structure in both the row and column of the BW query
Hierarchy node and hierarchy node variables
Free characteristics in a BW query
The Operational Data Store or ODS driver exposes the ODS tables, so that they look much like the tables of any relational database. However, because of the structure of the objects, it considers them to be like a database stored procedure.
Connecting to the ODS objects is not performed with the SAP toolbar described here, but rather by selecting the driver from the Data Explorer as shown in Chapter 1, "Creating and Designing Basic Reports." After the user has finished building the report, the report can be saved back to BW and published to Business Objects Enterprise by selecting the Automatically Publish to Enterprise check box, as shown in Figure 15.4.
Figure 15.4. The additional options after saving a Crystal Report to SAP BW.
    Note
This publishing method requires some setup. Please refer to the Installation documentation for further details.
    Note
Both the ODS and MDX drivers require SAP transports to be loaded on the SAP BW system. Please refer to the Installation CD in the Transports folder for further details.
Using OLAP or Web Intelligence to Report off BW Data
Included in the SAP Integration Kit are specific drivers to allow OLAP Intelligence and Web Intelligence to report off of SAP BW.
To connect to a BW cube or query using OLAP Intelligence, open the connection browser and select Add. Select SAP Business Information Warehouse and then proceed to fill in the relevant data, as shown in Figure 15.5.
Figure 15.5. The information required to connect to a BW cube or query from OLAP Intelligence.
After you are connected, select the query or cube and process to build the report, as described in Chapter 19, "Creating OLAP Intelligence Reports."
Web Intelligence is new to XI R2 and requires that a universe be built on a BW Cube or Query. However, to aid in this process, Designer builds the universe for you. To do this, select SAP from the list of connects and fill out the required information, as displayed in Figure 15.6.
Figure 15.6. The information required to connect to a BW cube or query from Web Intelligence.
Finish the remainder of the wizard and when you click OK, Designer generates the Universe for you. It may be necessary to move some of the objects around to suit your needs, but when you are finished, export to Business Objects Enterprise.
    Note
Only the BW query driver does not require the query be released for external access. The Web Intelligence, OLAP Intelligence, and MDX drivers require the user to release the BW query. To release a query, select the query properties in the BW Query Designer and select the Extended Tab and then check Allow External Access to This Query.
    Viewing the Reports
Your SAP reports can be viewed either via the SAP integration kit's InfoView or via SAP Enterprise Portal 6. The integration kit provides a number of sample iViews that can be imported by a portal administrator. These include
Folder iView The folders a user has access to are displayed, and from here a user can run her reports.
Alert iView Shows all the alerts that have been triggered by Crystal Reports. The user can then click on the report to view the report. The creation of alerts is defined in Chapter 11, "Using Record Selections and Alerts for Interactive Reporting."
Thumbnail iView This iView displays the Crystal Report as a thumbnail of the report. The user can then click on the thumbnail to run the report.
    Note
These are sample iViews. The organization can create its own iViews via the provided SDK.
BusinessObjects InfoView for SAP is a unique version of InfoView designed for integration with SAP BW systems. This integration includes features such as the ability to log on to InfoView using your SAP username and password. Related to authentication is the ability to access your roles and the Crystal Reports saved to these roles. The roles are defined in Enterprise as folders. The user can also schedule reports in the different languages loaded into SAP BW. This creates an instance for each language.
