I seem stuck in a loop of incompetence

Hi,
I recently rang to cancel my BT TV service, I was talked into staying on a reduced £2 (reduced from £5) a month 'tv essential' package, and duly received an email showing my reduction and that my total would be £2 for 12 months.
I then received my first bill which was for £5, so I rang and was told it would be sorted and was given a refund, I now have my next bill and its still £5, I wouldn't have kept it if I knew I was going to have to ring every single month and wait in a queue just to get what I was promised.
Can someone from here please look into this, as I don't have any confidence in the call centre and really don't have the time or inclination to ring every single month to fix BT's error.

MBP using 10.6.4 won't start - seems stuck in a loop

I have a mid-2009 17" Macbook Pro - and I added a new magic trackpad to it.
I took the opportunity to update my bootcamp installation of Windows 7 at the same time.
Following the installation of the new trackpad patches to windows (and the application of all the latest windows patches), I tried to reboot into OS/X.
Now, the MBP boots into a perpetual loop. The Apple logo appears and the screen goes blue - flashing lighter and darker. This never stops.
I've booted into singe-user mode and run fsck; it corrected two orphan files.
This did not solve the issue.
I booted from the Snow Leopard DVD - ran repair disk, repair permissions and set the startup disk to the MBP OS/X partition. Still no luck. The disk reports as SMART verified.
nyone got any thoughts?

Something similar to this happened to my 2009 17" MacBook Pro a few months ago. I tried everything on the support site and nothing worked. I booted my MacBook using the Snow Leopard DVD and ran disk utility and even that wouldn't fix it, Disk Utility came back with "Invalid Node Structure." So I did some research and it wasn't looking too good so I went down to the Apple Store and I bought Disk Warrior. Disk Warrior lets you "de-corrupt" your hard drive, as this is probably your case, even when it appears that your computer is dead. So I ran Disk Warrior and not even that could fix my hard drive because it was too severely corrupted. HOWEVER, I was able to use Disk Warrior to copy all my important files, photos, and music to an external hard drive.
If Disk Warrior is able to fix your hard drive, then that's excellent. However, if your unlucky like me, try and salvage all your important files by copying them onto an external hard drive using Disk Warrior.
What I did next was take my MacBook Pro into the Apple Store, they said they would have to send it in to AppleCare as the problem was too big for them to fix in the store. They fixed it all up for free and I had my MacBook Pro back in 4 days, working just like it was brand new. Apparently, there was a faulty hard drive cable so they replaced my whole hard drive and even installed a new and shiny glass display plane
I hope you are still on your warranty or you purchased AppleCare, otherwise you will probably have to pay to get you MacBook Pro fixed.

IOS 5.1.1 update seems stuck in a loop on my iPad.

I've tried hooking it up to install from iTunes, but the iPad keeps shutting down and isn't recognized on my computer.
It will start to verify the install, then shut down and restart with just the apple logo on the screen.
I've also tried reseting the iPad to see if that will work - it didn't. Same problem.

All-In-One C4780 screen is stuck on a loop. How can I hard reset the printer?

I have a C4780 and am running Windows 7. I have had the printer for 2 years and never had a problem until recently. I have been unable to print for months because the touch screen on the printer is stuck in a loop. I first noticed the problem because I could hear random beeping and printer movement from the other room. It was doing it all on it's own. There were no changes to the computers, wireless or anything. I had just used it 2 weeks prior to print a passport photo and it worked fine.
It thinks I am trying to print from a memory card and asks me to insert the card. Then it thinks I am trying to print a passport photo. Then it thinks I am scanning and asks me to place the photo face down. (etc, etc) If I try to hit cancel on any of the screens, it moves on to a different task it thinks I want done. If I try to follow through with the task it wants to do, it cancels it on it's own and moves on to another task. It will also move through the screens and tasks without me around. It moves so quickly through the screens that when I do try to get to a certain screen, I sometimes can't, because the printer has taken off in a different direction of screens all on its own.
All software is up to date.
I have tried turning it off, unplugging it, waiting, plugging it back in, turning it on.
I have tried unplugging it while it is on, waiting, plugging it in and turning it on.
I tried a semi-full reset by pressing bottom left 4 times. It was actually really difficult because the printer kept changing screens randomly while I was doing it. I finally got it to do the reset. It got to the "now printing alignment page..." screen and then just moved on to the main screen. Never printed the page. Shortly after that it started doing the screen loop with wireless settings. And now it is back to doing a loop through all the screens again.
It seems to be pushing buttons on its own.
Does anyone have any idea of how I can fix this? Is there a way to do a hard-reset on this printer? Restore it to factory settings? Or doing you think there is something physically wrong with the touch screen where it is actually pressing buttons on it's own?

I'm having the same problem, including paper running through the printer randomly. I believe I completed a semi-full reset that (so far) has stopped the paper going through the printer. And, the random changes on the touch screen seem to have stopped too. But, the touch screen still lights up and goes dark randomly, whcih leads me to believe that all is still not well.
I too would like to try and hard reset if one is possible on this machine.

Cannot sync anymore without Photoshop opening first; stuck in a loop

I can no longer sync my iphone without Adobe Photoshop opening first and then some message from Adobe Downloader. I seem to be stuck in a loop that consistently keeps synching over and over and I cannot reach itunes anymore without getting an error message that it lost connections with the iphone. How do I stop this looping? How do I stop PHotoshop from opening first? I'm about to throw out this iphone. I just upgraded to 2.2.1 but I was lucky I was able to do that. Somehow Photoshop shut it's ugly self off.

This happens to me everytime too. I have downloaded Photoshop again to fix the corrupt files, but it didn't help. So now when I connect my phone, and Photoshop opens, I just click on the iTunes icon on my desktop. To upload any pics I have, I choose another option to upload them. Then go to Photoshop, get pics, and look for files on my computer. Adobe will stay open and will not allow me to cancel or close. Then I have to do ctl, alt, del. Apparently this is an issue with Adobe. Hope this helps.....

Stuck in a loop with iMovie

I'm stuck in a loop. iMovie says it is looking for a certain movie file; says it can't be found and will not play properly and then begins to search again. I can't seem to bypass this and just open iMovie so I can work on something else. I don't need the file it is looking for. I have recently moved all of my movie files to an external hard drive to free up space on my iMAC. I am just trying to start a new project in iMovie. Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem with your library. Go to applications in finder and double click iMovie app while holding down the option key. You should get a dialog box which allows you to choose another library to open. If you don't have another library you can create one here and iMovie should open for you.

Time Machine is stuck in a Loop

Time Machine seems to be stuck in a loop and hasn't backed up in 13 days. Here's the information:

The last line goes from 1 to 2 to 3 then starts over. The Backup never occurs. I checked and both my MBP and the external drive are connected to the Airport Extreme wirelessly. I can even see the drive in Finder. I disconnected everything and restarted both the Airport Extreme and the drive. I then re-connected and the same thing keeps happening. I have a MBP 15in 2.66 Early 2009 and running OS X 10.6.1. I bought the Airport Extreme when they were first sold. All software is up to date.

Ipad will not charge. Stuck in reboot loop.

Hello,
I have an iPad with retina display, 32gb, AT&T.
A few days ago the iPad was left over night with about a 45% charge. The next morning the iPad battery was dead. I plugged it into the wall charger and left for the day. When I came home it still wasn't showing a charge. It seems to want to reboot, but it's stuck in a loop between thowing the red battery and the apple logo, then my home screen picture flashes and it goes back to the red battery. The iPad has been plugged in tthe entire time.

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

U410 stuck in boot loop

Salutations everyone,
Recently I purchased a u410 and it has been running great for a few weeks but this morning instead of waking up from hibernation like normal it seems to be stuck in a loop of displaying the lenovo logo then a blank screen with a few seconds on each. This has been running continously for hours while I try to run down battery in an attempt to reset. I have no bios access during the loop and it will not boot to any usb media. I am now wondering what I should do since it already has data migrated from my old machine and don't exactly want to start over. Is there anything that can be done other than returning it or sending it to lenovo support?

Welcome to the Forums.
If the reboot loop goes to the Lenovo logo where the white dots goes in circles, try to Interrupt the loading of Windows 8 to enter push-button reset mode (this is like a recovery environment to restore the pc fromr previous working state). To do this, hold the power button while on the Lenovo logo with the white dots going in circles. loading (you need to do this 2-3 times).
If successful, it'll run Automatic Repair and if it fails, you'll see this screen:

Click on Advanced Options and from there you can:
1. Follow this guide to enable booting into Safe Mode, If everything's ok, try to restart the computer in normal mode and observe
2. Do a System Restore to undo the changes
3 Refresh your Windows 8 PC or reset windows 8 (note that this will wipe the computer clean)
If the problem remains and the steps above doesn't work, the HDD/SSD maybe showing signs of malfunction and you may need to send the unit for service.

TS3297 iTunes match stuck in a loop.

iTunes Match seems to be stuck in a loop. It continually check the same songs over and over. It get to the "Upload" and doesn't complete it. Then it starts over on the same songs. I have signed out and back in, but it doesn't change anything.

You may have a corrupt file that is causing this problem.
If you go into song view and add iCloud status column. To do this go to menu > view > view options and tick box.
This will tell you the tracks that have matched, uploaded, purchased, duplicate or inelligible. Those that have an iCloud status of waiting may be the cause of the problem. Try deleting from library but do not move to trash. Update match and let process complete.
If successful try adding them back a small number at a time.

My laptop cd burner is stuck in a loop; can't eject cd

Sometimes when I burn a cd, the burner in my apple laptop gets stuck partway through the cd. I'm guessing it might be a flaw in the cd that is causing this. Not sure. The problem is I can't get the cd out or stop the import. The burner seems to be stuck in a loop. You can hear the sound of the burner trying over and over again to burn the trak. What do I do? Turn off the laptop and give up on burning that cd?

Found out the other day:
If you hold down the mouse button while the computer is starting up it will eject all removable media - including CDs whether or not they have been recognised.
So if you restart it's a sure fire way of getting the CD out so no need to panic about it getting stuck.
I can't help with making the thing work though - once you start burning a disk and it makes a mistake that disc is usually ruined, in my experience.

My phone is stuck in a loop for recieving texts!

Can anyone help me? my phone seems tobe stuck in a loop for recieving texts. i keep recieving the same texts from 411. it started yesterday when i had 411 send me a text with the number i was looking for. now i can't recieve any texts except from 411. i can send texts and make calls but i can't recieve any others.

I feel your pain; I use my text messaging featuring constantly and can relate to the importance of being able to receive text messages. I trust that rebooting your phone has resolved the issue by now as it was recommended by other forum members (thank you all!). If you still have this messaging issue please post back with answers to the following questions and we all be able to assist you further.
What 411 service are you getting these text messages from (Several services available)?
Did you subscribe to a specific service to receive messages from these 411 messages?
Are you using a third party application to send/receive text messages?
Additionally, a Factory Reset will most likely resolve the issues if a 3rd party application or system file is corrupted.

How to recover ALOM Main Flash (ReFlash EPROM) ? -- ALOM stuck in a loop

Hello,
I had an issue while flashing the ALOM Main Flash of a Sun Fire v210.
Now the ALOM boot is stuck in a loop trying to load the main ALOM image.
As a result the ALOM Main Flash is broken but I can still access the
ALOM Boot Menu. I can also boot Solaris with the Jumper on FP2 or FP3
but it does not recognize the SC anymore.
Is there a way to recover it from Solaris and/or using the
"f - Wait for flash download from host" from ALOM boot menu ?

Anybody knows if the source code of scadm tool is available somewhere ? (opensolaris etc. ?)
I don't have any additional advice to offer other than asking that you to try the flash-update all over again,
one more time, as if it were the beginning again.Yes but how because the SC is not discovered anymore by Solaris :

Can you try to flash the mainalomfw ? Your log contained only the flash of the alombootfw !

I guess jumper JP2 allows to recover from a failed flash by selecting the un-touched half the PROM.It does not work as the SC is not responding anymore to Solaris

ERROR: ERROR: Unable to open the SC device.
It's a pitty that obtaining OBP/ALOM updates requires a service contract. I got a V210 recently.
Unfortunately both OBP and ALOM are the intial release 4.8.2 / 1.0.I agree but it's probably also because you need support in case it fails ;-)
